  1. We have a 'walking bus' scheme in our village and this appears to work well. However, no doubt there will always be people who are selfish and who disregard parking restrictions, traffic laws in order to save themselves a nano second because their 'important' lives are far more relevant than ours. Same can be said re MLD...........SELFISH!
  2. I'm afraid that children expect all things delivered on a plate these days i.e. a car journey to school. They acquire quick return from computer games, tv, etc..........why should their journey to school be any different? Too many parents are too quick to pander to their 'darlings' requests, a simple NO is often sufficient, followed by an explanation of why their demands will not be met. Of course I understand safety implications of children walking alone (especially younger children), so walk with them! This would ensure safe and legal parking for the few children who live beyond walking distance from the school. I realise my point of view is controversial, however, I believe that parenting has somehow lost its way. We may attempt to make our childrens' world perfect but are we preparing them for a world beyond our parental status? In my opinion far too many parents are prepared to make their childrens' lives 'easy', this offers them no favours for the 'real' world they inevitably face. Off subject I guess, but my rant over!!!! My children 12, and 15 walk to school, and are well aware that myself and my partner can and do say NO when applicable. Sos for the rant but feel better now!
