  1. The whole system relies on you believing you have a genuine PCN as issued by the council and paying up without question and not realising that in reality all they have sent you is an invoice. They rely on this and fear of the stated consequences to scare people into paying an unjustifiable sum and while a percentage do this they will say in business. They have no intention of anywhere near a court as their paperwork is inevitably full of errors and at most all they can claim for is actual losses so it is ot worth there while. You will now be in the letter train purporting to come from debt collectors and solicitors and in desperation there may be a few phone calls to try to intimidate you into paying. Stand firm and ignore as it is the PPC in disguise and have asked several to take it to court yet they continue to fail to accomodate me in this respect
  2. Do not believe he has any idea of how to about taking anyone to court as have requested this course of action personnally during some interesting phone conversations and guess what the papers have failed to appear
  3. Not a good idea as they could have a genuine claim against you - damage to hearing My approach is either to say I will try to find him or her and then leave them hanging on whicl I make a cup of tea, do the Times crossword, mow the lawn or if feeling devilish and I have some spare time to waste engage them in a 'pythonesque' conversation - basically talk drivel, silly accent, ask them to speak up, speak slower, take their foot out of their mouth so its clearer etc. etc. its their phone call and it is costing them money As to the question of a court appearance - they have always failed to carry out their threats even when requested to send the appropriate documents as soon as possible ECP have said in the Times that they have never done court and never will
  4. Basically they are grasping at straws as more and more people are becoming aware of this 'fleece the motorist system' and they are loosing their income Have had a number of conversations when GW have phoned (Roxbuggers/PPC in disguise) and have ended all with my request to send the Court documents as soon as possible. This lets them know that I am not afraid of Court (Haven't done anything wrong so why would I be) and know exactly what sort of chance they stand of winning in Court - Zero Ignore is the best course of action as it keeps the threatograms to a minimum. Writing makes them think you may be wavering a bit more pressure with valueless bits of paper will head your way
  5. Normally when they they ring I just let them know I am looking forward to receiving the Court documents. This so far has made them give up because they know that I know just how much chance they stand of winning should they take it to Court - zero Ignore is the simplest solution If you wish to irritate them back when and if they phone again just say hold on I will try to him/her and go make a cup of tea, mow the lawn, do the weekly shop - phone call is costing them and they will get the message
  6. It is NOT a fine and is just a speculative invoice dressed up to look official. The system (for want of a better 4 letter word also beginning with S) is based on bluff and they hope that yopu do not know this and pay up. Ignore this bunch of modern highwaymen who in spite of their threats of court (via themselves, themselves pretending to be debt collectors and finally themselves pretending to be solicitors) as they have no intention of leaving their sqaulid portakabin. All they can possibly claim for is their actual loss which is zero Ignore everything from now on and in spite of their forthcoming threats they cannot touch your credit file without firast taking you to court and winning which will be virtually imposible PARKING EYE DO NOT DO COURT Have personally ignored a number of these PPC's and even when requested to do so when some of them phone pretending to be solicitors they will not take me to court
  7. You have understood perfectly T&C infest my local ASDA and also my local retail park and can asure you from personal experience that ignore works well. They will do their best to scare you with debt collectors and possibly solicitors letters (actually T&C wearing different hats) but the reality is they have no intention of going anywhere near a court. Their rules are designed to entrap and recently having brought an item from Halfords for the car and returned to exchange for the right part within their stipulated 2 hours no return period. All it achieved was to to cost them the DVLA fee and postage paper etc. to get nowhere. If everyone ignored them they will go out of business so spread the word on how to deal with these parasites and deprive them of their ill gotten gains.
  8. They cannot touch his credit record and it is NOT a fine and it is NOT a penalty - all he has is a valueless piece of paper demanding a sum of money. It is nothing more than an invoice and can be safely ignored. The system works on scaring their victim with intimidating correspondance and as he sent them one cheque they have assumed he can be conned out of even more. As regards the potential court case I would take a chance and cancel the cheque. PPC's in general do not like court as they are operating on the fringe of legality and when they do they usually come away poorer and with their tails between their legs. Picking on a vulnerable disabled person (their ideal mark) would not go in the favour It could be said that your father cancelled the cheque because he thought it had gone missing i.e. as it had not been cashed and that they sent another INVOICE for a higher amount this made him think that it had got lost in the post LIke many on this forum I have an assortment of PPC invoices and associated correspondence and on the few occasions they have phoned pretending to be a solicitor they have been invited to take me to court and as expected they have failed to do this
  9. Mole PPC species - small insignificant creatures that prey on unsuspecting motorists. When they crawl out from under their stones and post they are invariably spotted within minutes as they are generally not overly bright and give themselves away. G&M is not one of these, cantankerous at times maybe but most of his posts are useful ones
  10. Yes, 'creative journalism', nothing new and perhaps ignoring is better than fighting it but if it serves to make more people aware of the [problem] and not pay up without question then that is not a bad thing. The point G&M /MM is that not everyone is on the internet and aware of this and other forums and articles like this help to get the message across that all they have is a speculative invoice It will also irritate the PPC industry who rely on people not knowing it is a [problem] and pay up without question
  11. Yes just ignore and read the various threads From these you will know to expect letters from a debt collectors (powerless nobodies) and maybe a solicitors letter or two Parkng Eye do not do court and their threats are empty ones
  12. If your BF starts to waver again then todays Daily Mail has an article http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1386568/How-I-took-parking-Nazis-won.html#ixzz1MDbIDBlZ
  13. Euro Car Parks along with MET and Parking Eye are very easy to ignore and will not do court even when requested to do so Just ignore everything and they will eventually realise you have not been caught by their little scheme and desist. Expect letters from a supposed Debt Collector (PPC disguise number 1) and possibly a Solicitor (Lady on street corner in very short skirt and high boots who writes threatening junk mail) Todays Daily Mail has an article on another of these wretched leeches : http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1386568/How-I-took-parking-Nazis-won.html#ixzz1MDXg9mk9 Basically get used to receiving this form of junk mail as this is a growth industry and they will soon infest every private carpark in the UK with petty rules designed to be broken and cheat the innocent out of their hard earned cash Ignoring them and passing the word around about this site and how to deal with them is the best advice and once they are deprived of enough of their income they will be out of business
  14. This is an industry that is almost unique in the way it extorts money from ordinary people Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1386568/How-I-took-parking-Nazis-won.html#ixzz1MDXg9mk9
  15. Well done Julie however boycotting all the stores that use PPC's is going to be difficult as the infestation is spreading to almost every car park in Englands (and Wales etc.) green and pleasant land..... or do I mean 'rip off Britain'
  16. Yes you do need to take an action and that is pick up the letter and take it to the waste bin The debt collector letters are part of the game and is more than the likely the PPC wearing a different hat or sitting at a different desk. Once they realise you have not fallen for these they will probably send a solicitors letter in reality the same PPC but a different hat and different desk so you will have a lot more trips to the bin over the coming weeks maybe months PPC invoices are becoming a part of life as these wretched companies now seem infest just about every store car park with petty rules designed to catch the unwary and make them pay an unjustifiable amount for breaking them by sending out invoices dressed up to look like a official council or police pcn/fpn. For more effect they will use red ink and even capital letters but this does not change the fact that they are waste paper and unenforceable They rely on a percentage of people believing they have genuine 'fine' and not realising that it is just an invoice and paying up without thinking Have never paid any PPC invoice most of which had had photos of a car and enlargement of a number plate and on the few occasions they have phoned pretending to be a solicitor they have been invited to take me to court and guess what - it has never happened and never will because they know full well that they would lose Follow the advice given and ignore everything - you are one of the lucky ones and have not become a victim of these con artistes
  17. Ignore and do not contact them at all as this proceedure will limit the amount of junk mail they send. They will not take you to court as they are well aware the outcome will go against them and the whole system is based on scaring you with there silly bits of paper dressed up to look like official council or police PCN's / FPN's. All you have is an invoice nothing more and nothing less and totally unenforceable The correspondence will continue and will get scarier as they will use red ink and even capital letters but this does not make them anything more than the tear off sheets of paper found in toilets There will be bits of paper purporting to be from a debt collector (PPC in disguise #1) and possibly a solicitor (PPC in disguise #2 and possibly using a differnt portacabin) Contacting them makes them think they have a victim who will cave in and they will up the junk mail I have a file full of PPC nonsense and I now do my best to wind them up where possible and if they up the correspondence then it is costing them money and I do not have a problem with that. Have requested that several of them take me to court and they always refuse Best to get used to ignoring PPC junk mail as they infest most of the car parks in this country with their silly little rules designed to catch the unwary As for me - have successfully ignored MET, ECP, PE, T&C but there are quite a few more to go before I have a full set ignored PPC's though
  18. They may also use CAPITAL LETTERS for an extra scary touch - just ignore. These companies invent rules and regulations to suit themselves and catch the unwary and rely on the potential victim not knowing that all he has been sent is a piece of waste paper dressed up to look official Have requested some of these companies to take me to court but they always refuse because they are well aware of their chances of success - zero Ignore, ignore and if still uncertain ignore. I have used this system for dealing with a number of PPC's - the first time was mildly worrying especially for my other half who was taken in by their waste paper but now I almost feel like breaking the rules in the car parks of every PPC I can find just to complete my collection of invoices - any idea how many of the companies exist so I can estimate how long to a full set 8-)
  19. Ignore all they send after a few threatograms they will give up and move to an easier target There will be letters purporting to be fromm Debt Collectors (powerless people who write nasty letters) and Solicitors (PPC in different hat) some with red writing and maybe capital letters for that extra scary touch. All is bluff as they are hoping you do not know that all you have is an invoice and totally unenforceable Read the Parking Eye threads on this forum if in doubt and if still unsure google "Morrisons, Parking Eye, Reigate" where customers have set up their own website to counteract this bunch of highwaymen
  20. Perhaps it is desperation trying to get enough cash to pay their fine - all or broke - hopefully the latter and this will be the final straw
  21. Probably has and its just the PPC or Roxbuggers using his name. I think the real Graham White Solicitors of Hemel Hempstead would like to see him gone as well Have had a variety of people claimng to be from GW phone over the past couple of years including a nice well spoken young lady who was told to try and find some honest employment and a gruff man who was told I would not be paying them a penny and had better instigate the threatened court proceedings and as I said above am still waiting patiently for the papers to arrive. I wonder if they have forgotten me or even worse are ignoring me..... perhaps I should send them a reminder
  22. Like their heads - EMPTY Have requested this bunch to take the matter to the courts and here I am 12 months later still patiently waiting for the summons to arrive. Am very disappointed with GW over this with all this talk of taking me to court and then refusing to carry out their threats. Great pity as the defense would have seen them in deep do-do Simples - even if you are ex directory there are plenty of databases compiled from the results of form filling e.g. applying for loans, credit cards etc.
  23. If it definately says "Penalty Charge Notice" then they need to be reported to Trading Standards With regard to CCS just ignore what they send as it is scare tactics to make you pay an unjustifiable amount of money to them for nothing
  24. As has been said on this and many other threads ignore The 'scheme' only works when the potential victim does not know that all they have is a bit paper dressed up to mimic an official document as issued by a council or the police and falls for it. You have found this forum now know what it really is so do not pay and become one of their victims. The pieces of paper you will now start to receive will purport to be from debt collectors (powerless individuals who write nasty letters) and solicitors (usually the DC or PPC in disguise). These will have lots of mays and mights with regard to court proceedings as well as red writing sometimes in capital letters for the extra scary touch but in reality they have no intention of going anywhere near a court as their paperwork is invariably dodgy and all they can claim is their actual losses. Have personnally ignored quite a few of these companies and never paid them any of them a penny. If they are silly enough to waste their money on the DVLA and pare, envelopes and stamps and the only downside for me are the extra trips to the bin Ignore and do not conatact them as appeals in 99.9% of cases will fail as it is a money making scheme
  25. Relax, it is going nowhere especially after this length of time. As others have said ignore as it is a speculative invoice trying to get their potential victim to pay an unreasonable amount to them for exactly nothing. There are charities desperate for money so if you resally feel like giving money away send it to one of your choice ewhere it will do some good not this bunch of chancers The theory is that the person who drove into the car park read the signs and agreed to their T&C. Usually the T&C are misleading, too high to read from the car or not really that prominent. Note it is the driver not the RK and they do not who this is so there is their biggest headache. As more and more people get wise to the 'scheme' (for want of a more apt but banned word) the PPC's will be ever more desperate for cash hence reviving possible old unpaid invoices and could even just issue them to anyone in the hope that the person after a gap of several months or years (i.e. yourself) cannot remember ever visiting the carpark and simply paying them a sum of money as the threats are too scary to ignore. I say possible because have had a certain PPC issue their invoice chain to me for a car park I have never even been in so dishonesty on their behalf is a part of their system. I am still waiting for this particilar bunch to take me court especially as I made a request for them to do so over 12 months ago and am still waiting for a certain Mr Sobell to oblige as it be very interesting especially for them IGNORE everything they send unless in the 0.0000000001% of cases it is properly issued court documents complete with claim number and court seal in which case plenty of advice to be had by the experts on this forum Expect several mopre reminders including debt collectors (powerless individuals) and maybe a solicitors letter or two. Some will have red letters in bold type and even CAPITALS to make them look extra scary but all can be ignored. Writing an appeal tells them you are listening and they will up the threatograms
