  1. Can someone please please help me. My partner and I have been living together since 15th August 2008 in the same property. Saturday just gone, he received a letter from Bailiffs Whyte & Co saying that he and his ex house mate owed a years Council tax from the period of April 2007 to March 2008 and that a liability Order had been issued, he had 5 days to pay in full or they will come and seize property. This is the first that he has heard of this. There a couple of points: 1. The letter is addressed to my partner and his ex housemate, my partner is not in contact with his ex hous

  4. My mum and dad want to cancel there BT Vision but from looking on the website it says that if you have a 10 month period to cancel free of charge but if you do it after 10 months it will cost £200.00 ! Is that correct when they were never told this when they signed up and have no paper work saying that they would have to pay £200 for cancelling? Any information will be greatly appreciated!
  5. Just wanted to give you an update, I wrote a letter to 1st Credit and copied it to the Chief Executive of HSBC requesting him to personally look into the details of my boyfriends case. Well got a Final Response letter from 1st Credit grovelling as they dont want us to go to the Ombudsman saying that the matter is closed, they also removed a county court judgement from my boyfriends credit report as well and HSBC replied apologising and putting the blame on 1st Credit. So basically its sorted and my boyfriend shall not be hearing from either company again thank god, thanks for all your help.
  6. Thanks so much for getting back to me and with the information you have provided. Appreciate it Il write them tomorrow and copy the Managing Director of Lloyds hopefully that might speed up a reply. Il let you know what happens thanks again.
  7. Hi There Was wondering if you someone could help me! I filled out an application for a Gold current account with Lloyds back in March 2008, they then sent me everything to get started from the day I received everything, its been in my bottom draw unopened as I decided I didnt want to bank with them and chose to go to another bank. Hadnt heard from them since that time. In April this year Lloyds sent me a statement to saying owe £57.00, apparently the Gold Current account you have to pay for each month and since they didnt have any of my current bank details they had been dedu
  8. Oh dear Mr Man will not be happy. The Law is an Ass at times. Were going to the Citizen Advice bureau next week as some of the info British Gas has provided My partner has no knowledge of in particular them obtaining a warrent to go into the flat to install a pre-paid meter. Ive asked British Gas to supply us with a copy but conveniently they dont have one as it was so long ago, do you know where I could try and get a copy of it from.
  9. Thanks for the reply. In regards to what I said I can understand that he will be liable for half of that money that is not a problem the problem we have is its not fair for my boyfriend to pay the full amount as he was sharing the flat with someone else who was also registered to that account. So can they make him liable for the full amount of monies owed, just because they cannot locate the other person?
  10. Im helping my boyfriend argue a debt with British Gas after being contact by LCS. Basically he shared a flat with a friend, (they are no longer on speaking terms and lived together in over a year) they had both their names registered to British Gas. British Gas are holding both my boyfriend and his ex house mate "severally and jointly" legally responsible for the sum of £956. In a response letter to them I have stated that he is prepared to pay half of the monies upon British Gas providing sufficient comprehensive evidence that he has to pay the debt. I also stated that since b
  11. Ok will get him to send that letter. He called HSBC and spoke to someone telling her what happened. He has to call back tomorrow to speak to the same person as the lady said she will need to investigate
  12. Thanks for your replies. He is going to call HSBC and find out whats going on. And get a credit report as its seems a bit fishy having 3 debt collection agencies contacting him. We are waiting for LCS to get back to him with a breakdown of how they came to the conclusion about him owing money to BG. Due to the nature of my letter they replied straight away saying that they will get the info required I gave them 28 days to get the info they have one week left. Have to wait and see on that one. MY BF hasnt acknowledge or made a payment. So you dont think he should bother replyin
  13. Thanks for your replies much appreciated, will get a letter out and look up about 1st credit, thanks again. Im come back when he gets a reply.
  14. Can anyone give me some advice my boyfriend has recently been receiving letters from 3 different debt collection agencies. 1. LCS for british Gas saying he owes money even though he was on a pre-paid meter his old address. He has never received any letters from British Gas about owing money when he was at the flat. 2. 1st Credit for HSBC saying he owes money almost the same amount as the one above. Even though he closed the HSBC account in 2002 and didnt owe any money at the time and has never receive any letters to that affect from HSBC since closing the account. 3. Macken
