I current have a debt collection agency after me, due to the fact when I cleared my student overdraft they claimed there were still oustanding bank charges to pay. As i was already chasing the reclaiming of these I refused to pay and the charges have increased. I've recently researched this and discovered that a debt collection agency is not allowed to ask you to pay debts that are from penatly related charges eg. bank and credit card charges. Do anyone know if this is the case? Has anyone been in a similar situation? Sorry if this topic has already been covered!
