The above debt was originally from Provident card taken over by Monument, I fell behind with payments an made payments to a debt collection agency called NCO Financial, and on evening whilst I was at work my husband received a phone call telling him the balance on the account and it was not a joint account ! The man was from NCO Financial....I was so distressed as my husband didn't know about the debt and he was offered a final settlement figure !! I called he next day and asked why they had broken the Data Protection act to which i was told they had not, i asked

  5. Can anyone help give me advise please i am being pursued for a debt from cabot of £1600, I do not owe this amount and it is over 6 years old - I cannot remember acknowledging the debt but they say I did in Feb 2004...... This debt was originally owned by Monument which was passed on to NCO Financial who broke the data protection act by telling my husband about the debt at the time and offered a settlement figure of £521, obviously this caused a lot of arguments as my OH didn't know about this at the time, I did call and request why they done this and I just got shouted at by the ope

  8. Hi Everyone i am very new to this site but already have found it extremely useful... I am a bit confused as to wether the account is now statue barred, no payment has been made since 2003, the account was opened in 2001, which was originally provident which was then sold to NCO Financial, then moved to Monument and now Cabot... the balance is now over £1600 and the balance was roughly around £600, so as you can imagine I am more than reluctant to pay this as I do not owe all this money - NCO were very nasty and were originally advised that I could only pay £40 per month which I was p
