  1. Conniff.

With respect, why did the Tory' s not take this stance, with regard to the welfare/Philpott issue prior to the court verdict?

Philpott had been in receipt of benefits for years, it was on the telly etcetera, so none of it is a surprise.

The Tory' s could have debated this at any point over the last couple of years, so why now!!!

Allow me to have a stab at the reason...

The Tory' s decided to act now, therefore riding the wave of public outrage against a, and let's get it right, child killer. Yes he was milking the system, but that was nothing new as I have already stated. The Tory' s want an excuse to cut more from the welfare bill, they are desperate to do so, and this sick act committed by Philpott is their golden ticket. I bet IDS feels like Charlie Bucket!!!

  2. This is something that I did not expect, excuse the sarcasm: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-22041787

Big Dave backing up his buddy.

I don't understand why the Tory' s don't just come clean and admit that they want to grind the unemployed, sick and disabled into the dirt. It might be political suicide but it would be honest. The trouble is what happens when they push people to the point where they have nothing left to lose?

  3. Nice one jadeybags. I don't recall any government debate with regard to the wage of a GP in the aftermath of the Shipman case. Was he not paid by the taxpayer!!!

And off topic. Surely anyone who pays income tax, vat, road tax, fuel tax etcetera is a taxpayer!!! You don't have to be working to pay tax. I know that many will state that those on benefits are paid by the taxpayer but it's not just people on benefits, you have royalty, emergency services, MP' s, military etcetera.

So the taxpayer paid for Shipman' s lifestyle!!!

I am a veteran but I wonder how many taxpayers really consider that their name is inscribed upon every round that is fired.

  4. Conniff. I agree that the taxpayer should not be funding the amount you state but that Father killing his kids has nothing to do with benefits. This is being used as a weapon, not because of the crime. Would this be treated the same if it was a working family? No, it would not!!! Yes the appalling act would still have been committed but the government and the papers etcetera would not be trying to draw parallels between 'working' and 'murder'. The government are just trying to rally more support for their draconian benefit cuts by exploiting the sad loss of six lives.

  5. This is seriously sick: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-22025035

I'm worried now because I have kids and claim benefit. Guess that all benefit scrounging parents will have to be mentally evaluated, probably by Atos, to check if they have any pyromaniac inclinations.

Personally I think that it is seriously sick. Is there no level that the :x Tory' s will not stoop to just to rob the poor!!!

  6. Estellyn. That is exactly the point that I am trying to make. There are eleven houses on our street which have one or two spare rooms. One of them will be hit by the 'bedroom tax', four of them are pensioners who are exempt and the rest pay their rent. So out of the eleven you might force one, via the 'bedroom tax' to downsize.

This does not enforce the picture that the ConDem' s want to free up social housing. They just want to persecute the benefit claimant. The other households in the above would in all likelihood not be able to afford to rent similar properties in the private sector.

  7. Something interesting to consider with regard to the 'bedroom tax':

We have a neighbour who lives on his own in a three bedroom social housing property. He works from home and pays his rent. He uses the other two rooms for stock.

Another neighbour lives on his own also in a three bedroom social housing property. Like the former he also works and pays his rent.

Yet another neighbour who is a pensioner lives in a two bedroom house and will be exempt.

Now considering that social housing rent is on average cheaper than the private sector why should they all not be forced to downgrade!!! It is not right when the primary reason for the 'bedroom tax' is to free up houses!!!

As for the MP' s, Councillor's etcetera, why don't they set an example and scrap expenses!!! Don't quote the usual c**p about it being part of the 'job entitlement' and 'all above board', just do the MORALLY CORRECT THING AND DON'T CLAIM THEM YOU SCROUNGING S***S!!!

  8. We received ours yesterday. Typical, on a Saturday when you can't contact them. We live in Cornwall, Band A with a liability of 25% Works out at just over £20 per month.

Is this the new Poll Tax then? I bet it never goes down again. Not once they realise they can squeeze money out of people who have little to begin with. Especially with the threat of bailiffs, court and prison if you don't comply!!!

  9. Received a reply from Debt mis-Managers. They state that Arrow Global have instructed them to return the alleged account to them. They also state that they have closed the alleged account and will not be pursuing it any more.

Hopefully this will be the last that I hear from them.

Thank you BRIGADIER for all of the assistance and letter templates.

  10. UPDATE:

Received a reply from Debt mis-Managers today:

    • They state that the account was passed to them on 10.01.13
    • They have included a copy of their complaints procedure.
    • They state that they 'act in good faith' and that they were 'unaware of any ongoing dispute'.
    • They state that they will contact me back when they receive a reply from Arrow Global.
They state that they will not send around a 'doorstep collector' though I can take them up on their offer as it is free!!!

What a laugh!!! I had never heard of Arrow Global until Debt mis-Managers sent me their previous letter. And as for 'ongoing dispute', wht the hell are they reffering to?! How can I dispute something, prior to my last letter, that I have never owed, to a company that I have never heard of or from!!!

I did make sure to warn them under the Protection from Harrassment Act 1997. Hopefully this will do something. And I also informed them that I am a veteran who suffers with PTSD, Fibromyalgia, IBS and acid reflux/dyspepsia. Not that I think that they will care at all.

I am slightly relieved by the fact that their doorstep collection service is FREE!!! I would hate to have to pay for it :-x

  11. Who is the alleged 'original creditor'? And how would I contact them, if it's Shop Direct, about an account that I have no recollection of for atleast the last thirteen years, no reference for etcetera. Shop Direct are a big group. All I can see is me wasting £10+ in money that I cannot aford to do so.

My wife recently did that with Robberscum. She paid £10 to Shop Direct for a SAR on an account that she knew, Robberscum knew and Shop Direct knew did not exist. Only to prove herself right in the end and make Shop Direct £10 better off.

  12. UPDATE:

Cancelled the 'sms text messaging system' on the land-line as Bazooka Boo stated.

Received a letter from Debt mis-Managers (Services) Ltd today. It states that they are collecting on behalf of their client 'Arrow - Shop Direct (Carval). And that the alleged outstanding balance is £177.59.

I have checked, once again, my Experian file and there is a Shop Direct on there but this was resolved over four years ago. The ammount owing is higher and I have a letter from them stating that they will not enforce due to the lack of a Consumer Credit Agreement.

After checking my own records at home I do have one other Shop Direct outstanding, not listed on my Credit File, and for a higher ammount again. As before it dates from over four years ago and I have a letter stating that they will not enforce due to the lack of a Consumer Credit Agreement.

I am not aware of any other debts outstanding with Shop Direct. And could state 99.9% that there has never been anyother debt.

So what Debt mis-Managers are stating makes no sense at all. They have even stated that they are going to send an agent from 'Call Serve' to my house to discuss repayment.

    Any advice?
