  1. The absolute best place to contact is www.unlock.org.uk - they are a fantastic charitable organisation who help people experiencing similar problems to yourself. Read, join their forum, or give them a call. They will answer any questions you have, and will go out of their way to help resolve your problem.
  2. Hi there. The absolute best place to contact is www.unlock.org.uk. They are a fantastic charitable organisation who help people turn their lives around after a criminal conviction. They will give you advice and support and, if they don't know the answer to any question, they will find it out for you. Join the forum or telephone them in the morning. I hope it helps. just to add.......Unlock often posts job advertisments on it's forum.....Organisations will contact them as some employers are keen to employ people with first hand experience ie Criminal Justice, Prison Service etc. Worth a try.
  3. There's a thread on here a couple of months ago, where the loss to Boots was a £1.50 sandwich.
  4. Thanks for your replies guys. Do you know if she would be able to reclaim any of her private treatment under the NHS? Her dentist advised today they don't take NHS patients but I'm not sure how the whole thing works? ie can she pay private then claim from the NHS if the dentist confirms on a form how much she paid?? Sorry for my ignorance....I'm just thinking out loud.
  5. Hi there, My experience of RLP is that they are pretty quick at sending out claims and issuing/replying to letters. I sent numerous letters to them regarding my case, and they always replied within a couple of days. So I would think you're pretty safe to assume you won't hear anyting.
  6. DBC, I see where you are coming from, but please do not be frightened and intimidated by this company. I have read through all the posts on this forum, and not once did you actually name the company!
  7. Glad to hear it went well DBC! That is encouraging news! Erm.....I think that the said supermarket have got it the wrong way round.....shouldn't they be the ones facing harrassment allegations?? Their insistance on this thread being deleted, in my opinion, further highlights the fact that they know they are in the wrong hence seeking to destroy any incriminating evidence against them! Again, as others have said, it is you who has posted.....not your husband! Well done again!
  8. Hi guys, Just wondered if anyone could give me some advice on the following... My mum is on guaranteed pension credits. She lives alone, owns her own home, but has a very, very limited monthly income....ie just her state pension. Her dentist has went private, and, following a check up, has been advised she requires quite alot of treatment. Would she be able to claim anything from the Pension Service for her treatment? She doesn't have any savings - just lives month to month. Thanks for taking the time to read my post!
  9. How sad is it that people come onto this forums for 'entertainment' purposes?? One day Hammy1962, you might find yourself in unknown territory, with a problem that keeps you awake at night, and this 'entertaining forum' might just throw you a lifeline!
  10. Good luck huni! I've been following this thread and shaking my head at how this incident has spiraled out of control! Thinking about you and hope you get the outcome you deserve! xx
  11. suchaworry, if you read your childs first letter from RLP, this should refer to him/her as a trespasser? Second paragraph?
  12. Join the forum and post - you will get some good advice from people who have experienced similar hurdles.
  13. Yes, I think you would need to put down your employment history, but I believe most employers only request 2 references, one from your last employer, and another from another reputable person ie professional person who knows you and can provide a good character reference for you. Its sometimes a good idea to take a character reference along to an interview with you to present to the company. Could your brother in law get help from Job Seekers with regards to training or courses etc? He just needs to get another employer as his most recent and not go into too much detail about the job he lost.
  14. No probs! Let me know how you if it was of any help to you! ps....if anything, this forum will hopefully provide you with the hope that gaining employment is definately possible. Some of the people on Unlock have mountains to climb before they can secure employment, but they do! Your brother in law just needs to get rid of his last employer as a reference - what about voluntary work or a short term college course whereby he could put his lecturer/tutor as a reference? The more he can put his previous employer in the past, the better!
  15. Dismissed is not a good word to use, but then again, being dishonest is not great neither. Bit of a catch 22 situation. One way I can compare is people with criminal convictions come across the same type of problems but are still successfull in gaining employment - here is a link to a site - www.unlock.org.uk Unlock is a charity which helps ex offenders. I know your brother in law is not in the same situation, but he will be coming across the same kind of discrimination i.e. gaps in CV's, whether he should be honest in an application form, honest at an interview etc. Go onto Unlock and read through some of the posts....hopefully it will provide you with some help in deciding how best to approach his dillema. Good luck!
  16. Sorry, meant to say, if it is because he is not getting a satisfactory reference from his ex employer, then maybe a way round it would be to take a short-term, less paid job......basically just anything he can get his hands on to then be able to put that down as a present/previous employer and therefore cut out the one he was dismissed from. I know jobs aren't easy to come by, but it's just a option that he could consider.
  17. Hi there. Is your brother in law finding it difficult gaining employment because of the reference he will receive from his previous employer? When you say 'were you honest in your application forum' do you mean the reason for leaving or are you referring to CRB/Disclosure checks?
  18. Hi Feline, The boys name and your daughters name will already be on their 'database of defenders', regardless of payment or not! RLP are above the law in this country, and it is up to the defender to prove their innocence, rather than the other way round! It is proving very difficult in ensuring my details are removed from RLP/Cireco Ltd! Aparently, Boots withdrawing the action is not sufficient for RLP??!!!:-x:-x:-x:-x:-x:-x
  19. Oh no. I'm really sorry to hear your news I can't offer any constructive advice on a tribunal as I have no experience in this field but just wanted to say I've been thinking about you today and am so sorry for you all. Hopefully you will get good advice from other experienced members on this forum. Good luck and keep your chin up xxx
  20. I don't understand neither?? Guilt must be proved!! they are not above the law and therefore this theory does not apply!! Makes me so angry! Have they suggested viewing the CCTV? Would this show your daughter carrying them? If you do decide to admit to your daughter holding them, as scousegeezer says, they will question you as to why you didn't admit this sooner. It is a double edged sword........your union rep says theres nothing you can do if you can't prove they were paid for.......... but if you admit already knew your daughter took them will this provide them with ammunition against you? I really wish you well and will be thinking of you today! Best of luck huni x
  21. On the premises.........I take it that means anywhere in the building including the staff room?? What?.......when you're eating a pre-prepared sandwich from home, you must prove where the ingredients were purchased?? I just wonder how they can enforce such a rulling??......... Scenario........ you pop gum into your pocket from the kitchen table at home...........another member of your family purchased it........from where???........you're not to know.........you chew it at work.......get asked to provide a receipt........unable to do so as you didn't purchase it..........disciplinary hearing as you have broken clause 12 in the company handbook!! Ridiculous!
  22. just another thought.......do you really have to justify everything to this man?? Does the manager in question have the right to ask for receipts for say, your husbands socks (im assuming they sells socks?). No, he shouldn't have been eating on the job, but that doesn't give the manager the right to assume that just because your husband can't provide a receipt for the chocolate raisins, doesn't mean to say he stole them!
