  1. Well the alleged debt has been sold to another company Lowell Financial who have been in touch yet no-one has still demonstrated that any debt exists. Is it the Financial Services Ombudsman we need to complain to? Thanks again for everyone's help
  2. Crazy - the sentencing judges should be ashamed of themselves
  3. Not sure killing someone is akin to murder but sentencing should be equivalent to manslaughter unless the intent is proven. I can't understand why sentencing seems to be so low. Many magistrates issue sentences / fines for being uninsured that are so low they are effectively condoning having no insurance. That's what we get for having too many in the legal profession who see criminals as victims and true victims as only out for revenge.
  4. I will not be signing up to this as it is overwhelmingly biased to cyclists and will be both expensive and cause excessive congestion. I would however sign up to compulsory insurance for all cyclists
  5. Definitely FOR The railways are so busy these days that HS2 will release much needed capacity on both the East and West Coast lines. It will also provide construction jobs and hopefully train manufacturing jobs as well
  6. This is an amazing thread. The mentality of these 'freemen' is amazing and seems to be akin to a small child taking their ball home because they are losing the game. I don't like tax, am not enamoured by the government (although I prefer them to the last and the alternative) and did not like the parking ticket I got a year ago but accept that the benefits of law and order and civil structure outweigh the disadvantages. I would not think so if I lived in North Korea but would not say so. England and English law is not perfect but by the standards of most countries or anarchy (I doubt true anarchy would ever be possible as man is too flawed to make it work - it would be nice if it could) it works pretty well. Now I am off to defy the law of gravity because I don't like it!
  7. In my experience train companies do take complaints seriously and generally respond in a measured and sensible way (with the exception of East Coast who are losing the plot at the moment and do not even respond to praise for staff). If you do not get a response contact Passenger Focus.
  8. It seems to me that the OP cancelled the job due to the AAs failure to deliver. To be stuck on the A4 at the Hogarth Roundabout must have been unbelievably scary as the road is still very busy at that time.
  9. What a pathetic post. The fault is entirely with the person who hit them - to excuse him by blaming the police in such an uninformed way is disgusting. I just feel sorry for the two unfortunate cyclists and their families. Unlike you I have no sympathy for the driver that killed them.
  10. Based on reading the rover forums (I used to have a 75) £650 is the going rate for a multi-layer steel head gasket, water pump and gaskets from a marque specialist. There are probably new k-series about with specialists or direct from China where they are still made. A fundamentally good engine spoiled by BMW penny pinching.
  11. For any issues with MGs or Rovers look at www.mg-rover.org as the answers to technical questions are there. Got to say the heater not working is one of the first signs of HGF and the temperature needle up and down is a very bad sign. On the plus side the ZS is a vastly underrated car and handles very nicely. On my basic knowledge it does look like the guy is a trader and therefore SOGA applies (others can confirm this) Finally - whatever you do - do not drive it as it could cause a lot more damage.
  12. I have to object to this post. Many property managers are poorly paid and are earning a legitimate and difficult living. Its a market price - no one was forced to buy one. It also has a resale value too. You don't need to live this one to get value and pay the equivalent of £14 per annum Not true - its not just city centres that have more demand for parking than available spaces - try St Ives in Cornwall for example In the same spirit it helps me to vent my spleen on those who believe in getting something for nothing - can I help myself to your possessions? We have a property manager here who wants to be fair to the owners of the space not profiteer. I think you are confusing someone who wants to do the right thing with those who are [causing problems] profiteers. In the past I have been involved with managing parking and never levied a fine or clamped anyone although I have had some cars moved through safety reasons. Remember the fault here is with those who are stealing other people's parking spaces.
  13. Fair enough - my Dad once had a Renault which made BL products look like masterpieces of quality workmanship I thought they were - so curious now - where are they made overseas? (I know they are going to be made in China, Defenders have been made all over the place and Freelanders are made in India but never knew that about the Rangie)
  14. Thanks for getting back to me: They have not been doing this - I have had one holding letter It has not been busy all the time since late August - I understand what you are saying and completely agree but the time they have had my complaints is not acceptable They have had longer than this Completely agree with you but they should at least give some form of update I understand this - I just need to know it has been or is being fully investigated The points on the rewards scheme which they failed to credit restored, a refund for the mis-sold ticket and a full apology. The simple fact is their staff should not accuse you of lying when you are right and can prove it. Their staff should not upset you and lie to you by saying things like, and I quote "computers never make mistakes" What I need is advice on how to escalate this - it looks to me like I have been ignored. I simply need to know where to take this next not the specifics. It is rare that I write into any company regarding customer service but I am just as quick to praise as well. However, east coast ignore these too - unlike cross country who send replies (in one case the put a staff member up for a service award).
  15. I have written to east coast on a couple of occasions recently to complain about some shocking staff behaviour which, in view of the fact that many of their staff are excellent, I am not going to describe here. However, I have not had anything other than holding responses to these letters / e-mails. The question is what do I do next - no response from Passenger Focus either! East Coast need to be freed from the control of the DfT as soon as possible in my view as, although better than when they were part of National Express, they are not a patch on GNER. Thanks in advance.
  16. For info you can save any MS Office document as a pdf file by doing a 'save as' and then choosing .pdf
  17. Re road v. rail. The answer to which is the best depends on what is being transported and to where. Rail is ideal for large volumes from one place to another e.g. coal from a port to a power station while road is ideal for smaller loads or anything with multiple drops. What is interesting is where rail is used for the main trunk section with road for the ends of the journey - Tesco have really gone for this. I also have a number of clichés which can be challenged (please note most are very tongue in cheek): All French cars are unreliable All German cars are driven aggressively VWs are always reliable Only Rovers get HGF Only pensioners drive Yarises Only footballers drive Ferraris and Bentley Continentals Fords are made in the UK All BMWs, VWs, Mercedes and Audis are made in Germany All vans are white Audis have a manufacturing defect in their windscreens that makes 3cm look like a safe gap to the car in front Chavs and Barry Boys know more about car styling with their stick on stuff than the styling departments of major companies :wink::wink::wink:
  18. An update - this is still going on. We have not yet taken them to court due to other time pressures. They have now apparently sold the alleged debt - can they do this when it is under dispute? For reference they have still to provide any evidence to support their claim - even when a SAR was eventually returned.
  19. @firstclassx - it seems like you are letting your politics get in the way here. Every version of this I have seen showed that it was the aide who discussed fares with the ticket inspector and when a fare was required it was paid. You see people getting upgrades like this all the time - its only an issue if you want to pretend that only the government travels first - not that Ed Milliband would travel first and take the antimacassers off for the benefit of TV cameras! (he does) There are some facts in this: The ticket inspector was obviously very professional and reasonable The reporter who tweeted this has admitted that she did not have a first class ticket yet went there to take a photo - by your logic firstclassx she must be prossecuted If the very senior politicians in this country (cabinet and shadow cabinet) can't travel first its a pretty bad situation.
  20. I know that the price of a car varies hugely e.g. I recently bought a new fiesta at 21% discound from a main dealer. If I was in your position I would be asking the dealer for a quote on a similar nearly new model to see what price they offered and checking the prices of nearly new cars at supermarkets such as Motorpoint - not ideal but pragmatic. This will potentially give you something extra to challenge you insurers with and also let you know what is in budget if you get no more.
  21. Well T Mobile did contact me and quoted me £140 to repair. When I asked for more information I was treated with utter contempt. Me - So what caused the screen to break Response - "you must have dropped it as there were some dents on the case" Me - So what does the technicians report say Reponse - "it must have been dropped" Me - So how did the screen actually break Repsone - I wasn't there when you dropped it You can see that the person who phoned me did not have customer service or politeness on her list of priorities - rudeness however was! I do not think it is unreasonable to ask for more information. Based on the fact that I want the phone and info on it back I said please send it as I can get the reapir done cheaper elsewhere. Based on calls to customer services (not repairs) I was told this would invalidate my warranty- i.e. giving me no choice but to use t-mobile. Customer services on 150 were very helpful. As suggested I called the reapirs 'customer service' number to give go-ahead and after being on hold for over 10 minutes and in a queue and told my call was going to be aswered in a minute for at least 5 of them I was put through to an answering machine to leave my number. Expensive and annoying!!!!!! This has happened more than once. If there is a t-Mobile customer rep can you please get in touch as I am not a happy man at the moment.
  22. Thanks for the reply. I did go into a store but stated the full situation (the staff were very good tbh). I agree most broken screens are due to physical damage and I have broken plenty of phones then swore a lot and then footed the bill. This time its different - I will get evience of the known issues.
  23. My Galaxy S2 is currently with T-mobile for assessment as a result of a broken screen (under the glass) and the view of the shop was that as it was a broken screen it was automatically my fault. I am at a loss as to how they can know this without even seeing the phone. Hence why I was unprepared to pre-authorise a repair without knowing the cost first. I have no issue with paying if it is my fault (like I did when I put a phone through the washing machine or when I dropped one on a sharp stone and shattered the screen or when I left one on the car roof and drove off only to see it bounce in the rear view mirror!) but this time it was very different as the screen went black as if power had gone and it needed to be switched back on - i initially thought it was a power fault. The next day I discovered a crack in the screen. Following research I have found that there are issues with some Samsung phones overheating and this cracking the screen and, as my phone has gone very hot on a few occasions recently, think this was the problem. Any advice on how to respone if, as I expect they will, they say its down to me. For reference this is the first problem I have ever had with a Samsung Phone (apart from the self inflicted problems above) and up to now have been very impressed with T-mobile's customer service. Thanks in advance. A n d r e w
  24. Totally agree - and cars are getting bigger meaning roads are ever more crowded
