  1. thanks.....it looks like the letters will be 'lost in the post' then!! i pay all creditors by standing order anyway. i usually only hear from them when they send monthly statements.
  2. Hi all! I moved house last month and have redirected my mail for 3 months to give me a chance to get around to writing all the letters. It has occurred to me that some of my creditors have been quiet for a very long time, and I am concerned that if I write to them to inform them of my change of address they may start hounding me for more money after realising my payments haven't been reviewed for so long. Do I have to change my address......could I just continue to have the mail redirected? All help/opinions gratefully received! Thanks! J.
  3. .....but can I hand write a CCA request letter??? Have recently moved and printer not yet linked up to laptop. Am useless with these things, but really want to get letter off. Thanks in advance!
  4. Hi dx No haven't sent letter yet. Will do it today (I'm a shift worker so today is my first opportunity since receiving letter from Apex). If I send the letter today, what date should I expect to hear from them by? And I need to send a £1 postal order is that correct? i've never done this before. Thanks!
  5. Good Morning! I have posted about this problem previously but have no idea how to find my previous posts so will have to start again. Will try to be brief! In Oct last year I started to receive texts from Apex saying I had to contact them. I didn't, and waited for a letter which I received early November stating they had bought my debt from Egg and I now owed them £3447.97. I checked my credit report and found that this amount was incorrect, the amounted they quoted was approx. £150 more than I owed to Egg. I wrote back to Apex and asked why the outstanding balance had increased and that i was not going to set up a repayment with them until they had contacted me in writing with an explanation. (I was also advised on this site that they are not allowed to add charges when they have just bought the debt). Two months on I have now received a letter from them. They say that I have chosen not to contact them, however, the amount outstanding is now £3356.69????? Very strange, seen as the letter I wrote queried the balance, they say they haven't heard from me, but the balance has now reduced!!!! I have logged into Experian this morning to check my report. There is no longer any sign of my Egg account, nor any sign of Apex having taken it on. The debt has totally disappeared from my file. What should I do now???? Thanks in advance for help! Jay
  6. Thanks again for replies......i won't do anything now until i hear from them. when they finally get around to replying to my correspondance or when they just decide to write again i will request a copy of CCA. Is there a standard letter template on this site that I could use? Jay
  7. thanks for reply. no I haven't CCA'd either as I know I owe this money. Jay
  8. Back in November I had various texts/calls etc from a company called Apex who had purchased my Egg credit card debt. The balance they quoted me was more than the amount that I owed to Egg, so I wrote to them saying that before I arranged a repayment amount, I wanted them to explain how the amount they said I owed was over £100 more than what Egg said I owed. Anyway, its now been at least 6 weeks since I posted that letter and I have heard nothing. No response at all. No letters, no texts, no calls. Should I chase them up, or just sit and wait for them to come back to me. I'm not disputing the fact that I owe the money, and I am happy to set up a repayment plan as I had with Egg, but really want this query clearing up. Any advice would be welcome! Thank you!!
  9. Hi I had a loan with HFC a few years ago which they then turned into an account with a credit card/chque book facility. I stupidly ran up a debt and defaulted on it. I was paying payment protection. The debt is now with DLC whom I pay monthly reduced amounts to. I've heard bits and bobs about people claiming charges etc back and would like to know if I could do this. I have various credit card debts all of which will have been inflated by charges. Is this something I should look into?
  10. Hi Sorry to butt in here, but I am paying DLC for a debt that was originally with HFC Bank. I was paying Payment Protection until I defaulted. is this something I could claim back? I'm hearing alot about people claiming back charges etc but I don't know what to do about it.

  12. Ok guys, I've just phoned the National Debt Helpline as I wanted immediate answers on what to do about this. Firstly, yes, Egg can sell the debt on if you have an informal arrangement with them to make reduced payments. They can do this at any time. I'm told that if I am in doubt about receiving the 2 letters in the same envelope, I should write to Egg to confirm this and also write to Apex to tell them I am corresponding with Egg and will be in touch once I am satisfied that the account has now been passed to them. On receiving confirmation from Egg to say that the account is now with Apex, I should send my financial details (incomings/outgoings) to them with a pro rata offer of payment. I do not have to tell them who my Employer is, nor do I have to provide payslips, bank statements etc if they request them. If they do not accept my offer of payment and want to take me to court, this would be a paper exercise and the judge would simply look at the financial info I have given Apex and if the amount I have offered is fair that would be that. Apex cannot harrass me with phone calls. If they ring, tell them that written correspondnce only will be acceptance. If the calls persist complain to them in writing and if they still continue to call the next step would be to complain to The Financial Ombudsman. Also the CCA letter is to prove the debt exists. I KNOW my debt exists so I won't be bothering with that. What I want is proof that its Apex that I have to pay. Hope this helps/puts minds at rest.
  13. Have no idea why they've sold. I've always paid on time. Would my first step be to send the CCA letter to Apex then? That needs a £1 fee doesn't it? I've not done this before.
  14. That thread should have started, 'same here', not 'me here'.....lol......sorry!!
