  1. I''ve sent Capital One two standard letters ref credit card charges and each response has been the same - knocking me back. So I will make a court claim but as the charges are more than 6 yrs old ( 2001) I'm wary this might be a bit more difficult. How should I proceed to ensure they don't get away with it particularly with the charges being over 6 yrs.
  2. will do this .I must have the right to know how MBNA inflated the balance with all sorts of charges etc before selling to Link. After all who's to say its genuine in theory they could have made it up
  3. I'm in a similar situation with a MBNA card which I took up in 2000- I got into trouble in 2002 paid them via a debt mngt company and although I thought they had suspended interest they did not and it was sold to LINK financial for about £2000 more than it should have been. Iv'e paid Link for 5yrs at £50 per month and the balance now is actually higher then it was when I got into trouble in 2002 . MBNA /Link are the worst by far I've dealt with ( over 15 creditors most of whom have been reasonable). They led me up the garden path in allowing me to think they would accept a full and final settlement which a third party was going to pay for me. I'm considering going bankrupt. MBNA have refused to give me statments pre july 2003 so I have no idea how they arrived at the figure they sold to LINK. Bit like yourself. This has to be wrong . How can I get copies of the statements pre july 2003. And what approh should I take the total is about £9 000
  4. As a rule they generally accept 50%. But maybe less maybe more depending on how much they think they can screw out of you. Offer 40% - I think you will get that
  5. I sent back the cheque but got letter saying they will not go back before june 2003. That statements are on microfiche from April 3003 to May 2004 and then electronically from then. Very annoyed about this as talking thousands between 200 and 2002. What should I do now ?
  6. Thank you all for the responses. Yes I did send the £ 10 which they returned. I shall now press harder - will keep you posted
  7. I paid a whacking amount of charges between 2000 and 2002 to several credit card companies including Barclaycard. Reckon a couple of grand minimum. I had that much elsewhere to worry about that I never got round to reclaiming anything from the companies whose acccounts incidently got closed in 2006. Recently I chanced my arm with Barclaycard but they got back saying they only deal with records from 6 years ago. Read somewhere on this forum that others have not acccepted this and succesffuly pursued them for more than 6 years ago. Would like to do the same as we are talking a big sum. Could anybody advise if there is any way to push for reclaiming sharges from more that 6yr ago
