  1. Hi, Can anyone offer any advice please? I am writing on behalf of an elderly friend. Her father has recently passed away and she is executor to his will. He did not own his own house or have any assets. The little savings he had covered the funeral expenses. A bit of background:- My elderly friend has had many a long frustrating conversation with british gas regarding her dads gas bill over the last two years, which caused her a lot of stress. Basically, she made lots of calls to them, believe it or not, to TRY TO GET THEM TO SEND A BILL, as they did not send one for 18 months. The telephone calls were incredibly frustrating as they kept saying, her father was not with British Gas, they kept promising to sort it out and send a bill - but never did. She wrote down all the names, dates of the people she spoke to and times and dates of the phone calls. After the recent death of her father, she wrote a letter to british gas probate explaining the situation, giving them the meter readings, enclosing a death certificate and explaining that following the funeral expenses there were no savings left to pay any bill. They have now replied (if you can call it that), by sending a bill to her (named as executor) for £1,500+. They have not included any other correspondence with the bill. These people just don’t seem to listen. My friend is not in good health herself and this is causing her undue stress, all at a time when she is trying to grieve for her father. Can anyone tell me what the best course of action that I can recommend for her please? Sue
