  1. That has really made me laugh! You obviously have a lowly regard for Link and their methods. Of all my debts, their's is for the smallest amount - but I've read about their dubious tactics on here, so want to tread carefully.
  2. And here is the latest letter. scan0002.pdf
  3. Hello, has anyone got any thoughts on this? This was sent last year and I got the impression that the original agreement was probably iffy. However, I have recently received a letter before action stating that they will obtain and enforce a CCJ without further notice. I don't really want a CCJ as I hoped to reach a F+F with them on my terms later this year. Any thoughts welcome. Thanks, DTB!
  4. Right, MBNA agreement from around 1997 / 98. Sold to Experto Credite a month or so ago. I've CCa'd them in late October, nothing back yet. I also had PPP on the card from the outset so they've had a fortune out of me over the last decade or so. Suggestions on what to do next please... By the way, I just want to make it clear that at the beginning of this year when I first realised I was in a mess, I fully intended and wanted to get everything back to normal by dealing my creditors in a businesslike and grown up way. Wast a waste of time and effort that was. I might just as well have stopped paying and waited for the attack dogs. These companies really are not interested in working with you to find a solution. They just see you as a means of making money - They deserve nothing!!
  5. It was 120 month agreement started in late 1999 so would have been finished by now if things hadn't gone pear shaped!! Last normal payment was in about Feb this year. Since then I've made a few £1 token payments until GE sold it to Link.
  6. So the lovely people at link bought my debt from GE Money and subjected me to the usual demands for immediate payment of the whole debt. I have CCA'd them and they've come back with a copy of the original agrrement. Now, here's where it gets interesting: The original agrrement was with First national Bank from the late 90's. I was going to settle this a few years ago when I was financially a little more flush. When I contacted them for a settlement it turned out the loan was now with GE Money. The friendly man said if I didn't choose to settle he could transfer me to a new preferential loan for the remaining term of the agrrement. In fact he was so keen that he sent the new agreement out for me to sign. I never did though!! Now, comparing my FNB agreement and the GE Money one I can see some differences. The financial section of the FNB agreement does not contain any note of total interest payable or total amount payable under the agreement. To my mind that is wrong isn't it? I guess that's why GE had wanted me to sign a new agreement at the time.. So is this enforceable or should I tell Link to take a hike? I've already paid double the original loan amount back as well! Thoughts please?
  7. Ok, I've got some equity in my house (not enough to settle my debts fully) but my question is: If I moved to another part of the country where you get a bigger house for your money, would I be able to offer a reduced F+F to my creditors and at the same time hold some back to provide for required deposit. I would be taking my existing mortgage with me (as on fixed term) but would be reducing the mortgaged amount. Sorry if the post is confusing! I know what I mean, I think..
  8. It's not that bad, everyone on here has experiences they can share with you - you are not on your own so please don't worry!
  9. Hello, well after finding this site late last year when I first started to realise I might be heading for Armeggedon! I've finally cracked and am going to give my creditor friends as much hassle as they're giving me... Now, for reasons that will become apparent, I am not going to name my creditors.. as I know they're watching and I want the upper hand where at all possible. However I owe about 40k over 3 cards, bank overdraft and a loan. I made the decision to be open and up front before I fell behind on any payments - don't know why I bothered. As others here have pointed out they just carry on regardless and hound you / treat you like a criminal. So I'm going to CCA and SAR them all as well as going for bank charges. This site is great and a huge morale boost but there's just so much info I'm struggling to know where to start. Anyway, just put the phone down to one creditor who told me she couldn't authorise my recording of her call:p:cool:
