  1. Hi, I recently (like so many) lost my job and am trying to return the vehicle i was leasing to the company i got it from. Unfortunately they have claim that I have missed payments (which i havent) and so need time to go through my payment record before they can give me a settlement figure. They also claim that until they get back to me I must continue to pay them the same monthly amount. I have refused to do this and have asked them in writing to (a) Put my account on hold until they have resolved the problem and (b) come and pick up the car so it can quite clearly be shown that i am not using it, while the dispute is ongoing. Both of these requests have been ignored. I have sent them every single statement from my bank account dating back to when i got the car clearly showing that no payments have been missed. I have sent emails, placed telephone calls and written letters all to no avail. It took them a month just to send me a copy of my original contract, which i am entitled to by law. What makes this worse is that it is one of the countries biggest leasing firms, although i will not name names just yet. It has now been a month and a half and i still have heard nothing. In 2 weeks I will have missed 2 payments, meaning that i will have broken the terms of the lease and i have no doubt that they will then come after me for the full value of the car. I am at a loss at how to make them come up with a figure and would have no idea how to tell whether they are cheating me should they come up with one. After their exploits in spinning out the problems they are having i wouldnt be suprised if they did. Any thoughts?
