  1. Thanks for that, it was very useful.
  2. Hi, the allegations were personal and also attacked my competence and ability to do my job-specific examples were given in writing by the person concerned, who obviously did not expect me to find out. The allegations were used as the reason for rejecting my appeal and I was given no opportunity to challenge them. This came to light during the Tribunal. The allegations were sufficiently serious to prevent me working in my area of expertise ever again, and I have good reason to believe that they have been repeated to other parties. I have a copy of the letter in which the allegations were made.
  3. Defamatory comments were made about me which cost me my job, I discovered at a recent employment tribunal. Is there any action I can take?
  4. Bought blinds following a cold call. Paid in full, received no paperwork-at all, credit card debited for full amount. Did not show to fit blinds, no phone calls returned except when threatened with cancellation of order and legal action. Now promising to fit blinds tomorrow if I give them one more chance-I agreed. Am I mad?
  5. £12 late payment fee, loss of 0% interest rate (now reinstated) and £55 interest-apparently incurred during the temporary loss of 0% interest. The credit card company were very sympathetic but say although they realise it wasn't my fault that the DD wasn't paid, it wasn't their fault either. They have advised me to take up the matter of the costs I have incurred as a result of this with my bank. Thanks.
  6. I had a direct debit 'bounced' and a charge applied even though there were sufficient funds in the account to cover the direct debit. The charge was cancelled the same day after I protested, but I have now incurred substantial costs as a result of the unpaid direct debit. Does anyone know where I stand on this? Thanks.
  7. 'Got them all! I shall try and scan it. Can I PM it as very embarrassed at being caught out like this?
  8. The local council issued the tickets and according to them we have no grounds for appeal. Unfortunately, as my husband is the registered keeper he is liable-saying he wasn't there at the time doesn't count apparently. The builder was using our car as he was a bit down on his luck and we were trying to help him get back on his feet.
  9. Our builder was using our car with our permission. Unbeknown to us-until 'THE NOTICE TO OWNER' arrived, he has racked up £300 (so far) in parking tickets and we have been told we must pay this. Is there anything we can do? He is a bit of an itinerant and we don't have a forwarding address for him. Are there any grounds for contesting our liability? Thanks.
  10. I have just had a letter from GE money which indicates they will be trying the same thing. Did you take pictures of the car after you had cleaned it to prove thta it was clean and free from defects?
  11. These people offer to act as a 'broker' for a private individual (name given as Jean Jacques Devaux) trying to buy up shares in Holiday Clubs-ours is Club Class-and offering £200 per share. We apparently have 100 shares so quite a lot of money on offer. Actually seemed genuine and almost foolproof, with advice from 'Leyla' at M A B suggesting ways to protect ourselves against scams (!). Only money up front that was required was to be paid directly to Spanish tax office. So far so good. But paperwork was faxed from MAB from an untraceable fax number. 'Phone calls were allegedly made from Spain from a land line to my personal mobile but there was no cost on my PAYG 'phone. 'Phoning the Spanish landline only got you an answering machine, and in fact we never managed to call them on a Spanish number. The "direct lines" were 0700 numbers, which I believe don't work outside the UK. Email was a fastmail.us address. Attempts to verify that the bank account we were instructed to send £3300 to, was in fact the Spanish tax office, failed. During one of the many 'phone calls made, we mentioned that our bank had advised us to carry out checks with the Home Office and the police. We then received a very badly worded email saying that the advice was rubbish more or less and if we didn't complete by this Tuesday the deal was off. Needless to say we've heard nothing since! Incidentally, this all started approx one week after we had been hounded by Key Properties trying to get us to part with money to take Club Class to court in Spain-they wanted £800 plus upfront and we told them where to go. PS an internet search for 'Jean Jacques Devaux' came up with an actor! John Wayne would have been more appropriate for this bunch of cowboys who incidentally were untraceable on searching with Google.
  12. Just to try and put things into perspective. If your grandmother was nursed at home-privately-agency nurse cover would cost £480 plus agency commission, and that is a minimum! Bed,meals, investigations, drugs other treatments etc not included!
