  1. Hello, I am not sure if there is anything I can do about this or not. I have a joint bank account with my ex-partner. This had an authorised overdraft on it during the time we were together which we would occasionally use , however, during the period we were seperating it was used a lot to cover the costs of paying for our mortgage whilst the house sold when we were both living elsewhere. I repaid my half of the overdraft in full and he agreed to do the same but failed to do so. Correspondence was going to him regarding it and so I didn't realise until too late that he had failed to make payment and by this point he had accrued defaults on the account and it had been passed to a debt collector. After contact from me he made a payment agreement with the debt collector and that was that..or so I thought..until he failed to make payment repeatedly ( after the initial three) and defaulted again. I have since started paying this debt as I want to remove the financial connection from my credit rating as promptly as possible and I do not want any more default..there are a total of 6 now. I understand joint liability in legal terms and whilst it sucks having to take on someone else's debt when you hoped they would behave better I know I have a liability to do so. I just wondered if I can contest at least any of these defaults on MY record on any grounds.. these along with the fact I have moved a lot and my own ( fairly modest debts) have led to my credit rating being decimated and I can't get credit except with the dodgy firms. Any help or advice appreciated.
