  1. there we go thats your account stopped then is the makes of any of the items on the list even better if not
  2. doubt it very much that they will turn up today like most people will tell you on here they dont want your belongings they want your money so stay calm....dont know for sure but think i have seen others on here asking if a bailiff is aloud to enter another property and am sure they are not allowed they have to get another walking (i think ) will look around for you now and let you know if i find anything hopefully some one with more knowledge will look in soon but like i said keep calm know its hard am going through the same...best of luck to you both.
  3. the only way that i can see they can prove you received goods is if you ordered something in store to be delivered to store then when you picked it up you would have had to sign for it on receiving the goods dont think you have to sign for any deliveries if you order it to your house...just out of curiosity how did you sign up for the account???
  4. just a thought here but are bailiffs not aloud to give information regarding a debt to a third party thought that they were only aloud to discuss matters with the person who's debt it is???if this is true then would think that he is not aloud to demand money off your father..hope this helps in some way all the best totts
  5. and what would the minimum fee be????how nice would it be if a bailiff firm started up that did not add any extra charges on just collected the debt that was owed could you tell me why it costs £24 for someone to come to your house and post a letter when it only cost a couple of pence for a stamp how much cheaper would that be....and not to mention better for the enviroment
  6. just to add my 2 pennies worth i think its disgusting that you are aloud to add this charge people are in debt that is why you turn up to get the money back..but why do you think it is that most people are in that situation because they couldn't afford to pay and then to go and add on a few more hundred pounds for A VIEW TO REMOVE not actually doing anything you think that's ok????? people would be more likely to pay the debt off faster if you didnt put all these charges on.
  7. no have not spoken to them yet do you have to wait for a while before you speak to them thought i saw something about once you made a complaint to the council you then have to wait for a further 6 months before making a complaint to them????(but in my world that could be for anything cant remember much about last week let alone what i think i seen back in may lol ) thanks to hallowitches help my mayor and local mp knows all about it...
  8. thanks for that my kids are 7 4 and 3 and i have had to give up work cos i could not get anyone to look after them for me so now my circumstances have changed again have not informed the council of this yet though as it has all caused me so much stress i just cant bring myself to phone them at the moment but i know i will have to do it and soon again thanks all for all the support and help you have all given me on here..
  9. morning all..had a reply yesterday from the letter that was sent to the council off my mp...there is a reply off the council which just says basically that they want another means test off me and a reply from the bailiff which is not good it says that the bailiff who called on the second occasion did not make any contact with me he just left a letter which is bull as you will see from the first post i put on here he gave me till 5 o clock that same day to raise £250 or they would be back....also that he turned up in a big van like car and that most of the info that has been given on here is not relevant as it is not in regards to my case... now that i am writing this i am getting more and more p off as the bailiff company are blatantly lying saying that they never made any contact with me on the second visit when he did as you will see from my first few posts i was on cont down till 5 o clock as i couldn't raise the money..also it says that the first bailiff had 18 years under his belt as working as a bailiff now either he has some very good wrinkle cream or he started working for bailiffs at a very young age....and now due to all that's gone on the agreement that was made for this years council tax to be put on hold has now been taken off and by the looks of it added to this bill as it is now saying i owe £1300...not good times for me at the moment...
  10. personally i would report this even if to your local paper so the can warn other ppl that they are in the area we had guys round my area once saying they were bailiffs my husband sent them packing and we later found out that they went down to the old age complex thats down the road from us some ppl just like to pry on the vulnerable and see what they get luckily no one gave him any money but there was quiet a few complaints put in about this man and he soon moved on..
  11. not to sure on parking tickets but i wouldnt think that the bailiff was aloud to disclose information to to ur husband as to what the debt was for and the fees do seem to be way over the top....sorry cant offer some helpful advice some one will be along soon to help there are lots of good ppl on here who will help and advise best of luck...

  15. this is the artical on the lady getting overpaid.. Barclays worker paid double can keep it Jaya Narain, Daily Mail 15 June 2009, 8:50am A bank worker paid double her salary by mistake for almost three years has won a legal battle to keep her bigger pay packet. Windfall: Natasha Keenan had the salary confirmed to her in a reference from Barclays. Windfall: Natasha Keenan had the salary confirmed to her in a reference from Barclays. Natasha Keenan, 36, will also be allowed to keep the £20,000 overpayment she has already received. Mrs Keenan, a part-time complaints adviser for Barclays, said she had not realised she was wrongly being paid £17,000 a year instead of the £9,500 she was due. When the bank discovered the administrative error, it demanded she hand back around £20,000. Mrs Keenan took Barclays to an employment tribunal. Now a judge has ordered that the mother-of-two will continue to receive double salary for working 19 hours a week. Barclays had already withdrawn its demand that Mrs Keenan repay the £20,000. The judge has confirmed that she does not need to pay back a penny after finding the overpayment was the bank's fault. In April, Mrs Keenan told the tribunal in Ashford, Kent, that she had no idea she was being overpaid for the hours she worked. She said she had spent the extra money and had used her pay slips to apply for a mortgage on the three-bedroom house in Erith, Kent, that she shares with husband- Brent, 31, and their children Leo, four, and 14-month- old Sunny. Mrs Keenan is expecting their third child. Barclays even provided a reference confirming her salary when she applied for the loan last year. The bank also gave her regular pay rises - including a £3,000 performance-related bonus - without spotting the error. She told the tribunal: 'If I had realised they'd made a mistake with my salary which could be spotted at any time, I wouldn't have put my family's future at risk and used it to apply for a mortgage. 'My manager and team leader must have known what I was getting paid.' Mrs Keenan told the tribunal that she originally earned £9,500 a year working for the Woolwich building society, but when the business was taken over by Barclays three years ago she was assured she would receive a 'significant' pay rise. When she received a new contract stating she would be paid £17,000 a year, she assumed the increase was the pay rise she had been promised. Barclays claims the amount stated was for full-time employment and says she should have been paid on a pro-rata basis. The bank said the error was only picked up in December last year by managers brought in to conduct a financial review. Judge Martin Kurrein ruled that Mrs Keenan was an honest woman who was unaware of her bosses' mistake. 'I am confident that if Mrs Keenan had known that Barclays had made a mistake she would have informed them of that,' he said. 'I thought it highly unlikely that if she had suspected a mistake had taken place, she would have acted as she did in taking out loans and credit cards, committing herself and her husband to a mortgage and having a further child. 'I found Mrs Keenan to be an entirely honest and convincing witness. It was clear to me that she takes a very responsible attitude to her financial affairs, and would not "turn a blind eye" to such a mistake in the hope that she might get away with it.' Mrs Keenan declined to comment on the victory, but a colleague said: 'She's absolutely over the moon - no one gave her a chance in hell of taking on the bank and winning. 'She's so relieved that her children won't have to go without because of an administrative error.' A bank spokesman said: 'We have no further comment at this stage. However, we can confirm that Mrs Keenan remains a valued employee.'
  16. with regards to the overpayment it was not long ago that this happened to a lady working for a bank and she was overpaid by a year and when she got taken to court for it the judge said that it was the banks fault and not her own and there for she did not have to repay it back...it was only a small write up in the paper about it can anyone else remember seeing this will google it now see if anything comes up..maybe it will help a little with regards to the overpayment..best of luck to you both..
  17. thanks for that but the council wont take it back have asked and asked them but because i let them in and have now been paying the bailiff they say they cant take it back...will leave everything outside for them to pick up or can they take more when they come to the house??
  18. happy c is this the one i should now be sending to the council to claim them???many thanks for your help Head of Revenue Borough Council Address 1 Address 2 Address 3 Postcode [DATE] Dear Sir/Madam Re: Council tax arrears and your bailiffs fees Please find a copy of a letter before action that has been delivered by even post to your contractor who is claiming you have instructed to act. You contractor is cheating with his fees and it is my intention to reclaim them by filing proceedings in the small claims track if they are not refunded in full within seven days. As the council is liable for its agents it is my intention to name the council as the principle defendant, however, Court rules require me to give the council reasonable opportunity to settle the claim beforehand. If you wish to settle the claim, please pay me the sum described in the enclosed letter at the above address within seven days from the date of this letter. You may wish to launch an investigation or make your own enquiries; this does not delay the proceedings being filed at Court, and to protect other taxpayers from being defrauded in this way, the case will pass to the Local Government Ombudsman.
