  1. Hi, I am trying to find out some information as my partner and her family have received notice from Northern Rock that their house will be repossessed if the mortgage is not paid off in full by the 8th of August. The family inherited the home from their father who sadly passed away and it is not lived in currently, the company have been happy to receive updates every few weeks and have not even slightly suggested this would be a course of action as the house has been up for sale for the last 18 months. The company have not in that time even asked for the mortgage payments to be kept up with so seemed happy with the arrangement and this letter has been a bolt out of the blue. I'm wondering firstly if this date could be delayed whilst the family work out a way of dealing with the amount of money needed or if this is indeed a threatening letter that may be solved if a certain amount can be paid off to appease them while the home is sold? I'm told they were not very willing to co-operate over the phone yesterday but from what I have read up on so far, if someone in the family can make a payment it should be able to be solved whether with the lender or in the worst case scenario at court through a plan alongside a lump sum payment. Many thanks for your anticipated help.
  2. Hello, my partner is currently suffering from severe depression and is to be reassessed to see if it is possible he has bipolar rather than unipolar depression. Recently he has had spells where he spends money endlessly until he has none left, but this weekend it has gone up another level as he has spent £500 gambling online with my details. I know this is because he is ill and not in any way his usual behaviour but wonder whether any of you may have any advice on if/how I can go about getting this money back as I hadn't given him permission? Many Thanks.

  4. I was under the £100 overdraft limit until they charged me £1 for every day I was using the overdraft which is what took it over. Is it simply a ring up and be told to pay it even though I have no way of doing so or is ther anything I can do or say to help my situation? Thanks for your anticipated help!
  5. I have for the last 6 months been suffering with mental health issues and as such have not been able to go to uni/replace this with a job, so at present i am in limbo as I am hoping to be deferred until september and be well enough to continue my studies. I am being charged £5 a day for being over my £100 overdraft and it has now reached nearly £400, I have tried to solve it today but was told it had been passed to head office. Does anyone have any advice on what I could do about it?
  6. Thanks for the advice! I have contacted Consumer Direct and they advised me to write to both companies which I am already in the process of doing but I'm a little confused as to the other suggested courses of action as I want the companies punished but don't want my Nana to be going through anymore unnecessary stress.
  7. Hello, I am absolutely furious to find out my terminally ill grandma is receiving up to 3 letters a week and had been receiving up to 15 phonecalls a week and has now changed her sim card to avoid them. They are claiming a debt of over £7000 is owed to them that was originally owed to Direct Line, my main problem with this is that Direct Line are currently processing the evidence provided about my grandma's illness in order to write the debt off. I find this incredible and I'd appreciate any advice on how to get rid of this ridiculous company. I know what I'd like to say to them but possibly this method will be much more productive in solving the issue. Many thanks
  8. Thankyou Amy I have spoken to the bank on the phone and they have suggested that I go into my local branch in the morning and fill a form in and if that is ok, the funds should be back in within 48 hours. Does this seem correct to you? Also I'm certainly going to sort out the monthly payments I'm behind with as soon as the funds are back in my account.
  9. Hello, I have just checked my online banking only to see that O2 have taken over £500 from my account. I spoke to O2 six weeks ago to explain that due to my student loan not arriving as yet and being made redundant I would only be able to pay my direct debit once it arrived which it duly did this week. Due to being busy with uni deadlines and family problems I forgot to sort it out until tonight and have just seen that the full contract payment has been taken today and I'm wondering where I stand as I was obviously going to pay the £75 to reconnect plus this months when I was to ring to sort this out but I am basically penniless if I cant sort this out and reverse this. Many thanks for any help. Lee
  10. Hello, I am looking into information for my Grandmother who has been diagnosed as terminally ill. It has only just come out that she is in fact owing around £25,000 with £9,000 to be written off due to her insurance. The other £15,000 is not insured as for some reason she isn't sure about it was cancelled in 2007. I am wondering what the best course of action would be regards whether to look into having the debt cancelled due to the circumstances, offer to pay a lower amount now that she is leaving work or whether something such as bankruptcy is a viable option. My Grandmother lives with my mother and has no estate as such so I understand that there would be no liability towards my mother as my Grandmother is not on the mortgage. Many thanks for your anticipated help
  11. Hi, I have been in full time emplyment from October 2006 to November 2008 but the Jobcentre are saying i didnt contribute enough in 05/06 which is true but as it is 2009 surely they should look at 06/07 and 07/08 where i have contributed fully. As it stands i am receiving nothing despite living with my girlfriend who works part time and having rent and bills mounting up. Many thanks for your anticipated help in advance.
  12. Hi, i have been unemployed since October and have received a job offer today but due to my current problems with Lowells, i cannot go through with the process with their claim for debt on my file. I have this £400 debt from an old mobile phone contract years ago that i naively took out for my sister who then didnt pay it. I currently have no money whatsoever and know that just having this job for a month would resolve the problem and free me to get on with things without worrying about this. I really need to get rid of this so i can commence employment and would appreciate any ideas on what i should do to resolve this? Is there a way around this so i can take the job?
