I received a letter in 2016 from Platform homeloans explaining they had found I was charged excessive late fees etc on a mortgage I had with them, I had a total of £427 returned to my mortgage account including interest payment. I recently wrote to them asking for full breakdown of the refund as I wanted to check the correct interest was returned to me, I also asked that any charges added to the mortgage would be addressed. I was sent a statement of account together with a letter telling me they were happy with the fees returned to me, but no breakdown of the fee's as requested. I went through the list and used the compound interest calculator on this group. The compound interest calculator shows a sum totalling £1124.00. I have also received a letter stating they have overcharged the interest on a misaligned date in my mortgage offer. They haven't given any dates but have offered a small amount together with interest at 8% Should I write back requesting the total of £1124 less the £427 already paid? Many thanks

Well I for one am up for challenging these terms and conditions, To say I am paying £2000 odd pounds per month and find I am £60 odd thousand pounds in arrears shows what company i am up against. Will I have to wait for the SAR I have sent in to be answered? I am worried that as they are looking at giving me £9,687.39 (which is written on the letter three times, to remind me I should be ever so grateful) so wonder if they're going to push for the return of the £61,498.92
  4. The wording in the letter is "I am satisfied we are entitled to apply charges in line with clauses 2b and 2d of the terms and conditions of the loan agreement and it is not illegal for us to do so"

Further to the above, I still haven't received the full statements I have asked for to date however I have received a seperate response to my letter asking for a full breakdown of any charges applied to my account and a full breakdown of the £61,498.92 that they have said has accrued on the account. The letter states that a review of my account has taken place and £4.655.00 has been incorrectly applied in line with the relevant terms of charges at that time. A sum of interest will also be repaid to my mortgage account totalling £9,687.39. The letter ends by explaining the other charges are not illegal and the conditions of the loan agreement entitles them to be applied, The final paragraph explains the loan agreement is not regulated and therefore the financial ombudsman service or the financial conduct authority will not be able to look at my complaint! What steps do I take next? Thanks as always for your help.

  9. As mentioned at the top od the page it was due to financial difficulties, the payments are back on track as I have a good job and good tenants In the property. But I was aghast as to the amount of charges they have added.

  16. Good afternoon, I received an up to date account statement from Together earlier today, I have run the figures through the Compound interest calculator found within this group. The figures show an amount of charges of £25,465.00 and an amount of compound interest £21,914.20 giving a total of £47,379.20. Could you please tell me the next steps to take? I was also wondering why Together are telling me the amount ourtstanding to bring the account in line with the original term is £61,498.92. Thanks for your help.

  18. Hi all, I have a mortgage that started with Lancashire mortgages, this was taken over byTogether a couple of years back. I had taken the mortgage out on a block of flats for £200k plus the £4k costs added by Lancashire mortgages. No accounts were required and just a copy of a valuation I had paid for was used. My story is that after a few missed payments due to financial difficulties and Lancashire Mortgages trying to repossess I found the money to repay the outrageous charges and get back on track. Today I received a letter telling me that I now owe £61,000 in outstanding fees, and the mortgage would not be paid as and when it should have. I have been paying £2200 per month for the last 11 years and still owe £203,722 to date. The charges include £500 per month arrears charge, issue of demands charges of £500 a time and the usual £35 per phone call and letters together with repossession charges added on top of the charges I had paid. I have been given one month to pay in full!! Could anyone help?? Many thanks for your time.
  19. Just a quick follow up: I was sent a cheque for the full amount requested less my new insurance payment for the year together with a letter of apology. Happy days!!

  21. Sorry about the length of this thread but I wanted to get everything in. I am a buy to let landlord, I have recently got into a couple of problems with tenants paying late and have run up small amounts of arrears £100-£150, I have taken steps to reduce the arrears over a 3 month period. I have been making payments to Platform by cheque each month, I have more than one account and make one cheque payment to cover all the mortgages, I enclose the mortgage account numbers in a letter and on the back of the cheque with my request. Two months ago the cheque was cashed and added to only ONE account, the others were marked as UNPAID, I wrote to Platform expressing a little anger and was told it was their mistake and that it wouldn't happen again. I was told to make the payments as agreed and it would be sorted at their end. At the end of May I again sent a cheque for the total amount with the letter and cheque, I then received a visit from my tenant telling me of a visit by "Move with us" telling the tenant I have defaulted on my mortgage, when I took this up with Platform they explained that they received & cashed my cheque on the 4th June but it wasn't spread to my accounts until the 24th June. I would like to know what steps I should now take?

I'm not asking for distress, inconvenience etc, I have asked for the £40 per letter (stated in the paperwork I received as a charge if they had to write to me), I have had to write to the company (6 in total), telephone calls, time away from running my business to sort out problems that would not have arisen if they had done their job in the first place, I would have thought that as they have agreed £50 to "shut me up and make me go away" also the apology letters for their mistakes was justification to take the matter further. I will find the compensation amount I have read and will try to put a link on here. Thanks for taking an interest
  23. From the FSA website, I know they have changed that's why I am asking whether to go straight to court, don't know what the ombudsman would say. Rachel has written 3 letters apologising at the companies error but have had no reply to the last letter I sent four weeks ago. Thanks

I took a motor trades policy with Peacock insurance in December 2012, I paid the deposit and the first months payment was paid, I was asked to send paperwork in and the insurance was done, I did this and happily drove round. I then received a letter from the underwriters stating the policy had been cancelled. I phoned my brokers who told me it was cancelled as I had not returned the paperwork, I argued that I had and the lady "found" it, she could not explain why it had been cancelled but told me someone would get back to me, I spent the day phoning and phoning until at 5 pm I got through to someone who had been told to "sort it". He set up a new policy and after asking for MORE money which I explained there would be no more money as this was not my fault, he eventually finalised the policy. Then when the paperwork arrived they "asked" for a full payment which was more than I had agreed, and the paperwork was in the wrong name. Since then I have written to Rachel Gow the director of the company and after a lot of twoing and froing I have received an "offer" of £50, together with an apology for the companies error in not forwarding the paperwork correctly, I have told her I am not accepting this as the FSA have stated a compensation of £750 minimum is due when a case of maladminstration is found. I have written and asked for £524 as this is the total amount due with letters time wasted etc is taken into account. to date I have not received a reply and have waited four weeks. I am wanting to know if I should bother with the FSA as was or should I take Rachel Gow to court? as I need this matter sorting quickly. Any help is much appreciated
