  1. Currently I am unemployed and receiving ESA, due to an ongoing medical problem. I am also in receipt of housing / council tax benefit, on my rented flat. I am seriously thinking of moving(only a few miles) to a similar priced acomodation, but it falls under a different council. I realise what housing benefit you receive depends on the post code you live, which I have checked, and there is minimal difference . Would I be in my rights to move, and still be in receipt of similar financial help? Thanking you in advance.
  2. Hi, I wonder if you could answer my question? I am renting a flat through an estate agent, My contract was initially for 6 months which started on the 10th Oct 2009.After the 6 month agreement I decided i wanted to go on to a rolling monthly contract, which was fine with the landlord.I believe Ionly need to serve 1 months notice, and the landlord needs to give me 2 months ...is this correct? Should I decide to give notice does it need to be served by the 10th of the month, or does this date not have any significance now? Much appreciated.
  3. I now realise that it may have been harder for my employer to terminate my employment, but at the time i din't think the outcome would be as it has. Yes i was only signed off on Tuesday,my ex employer is not aware of this.
  4. After being unemployed for sometime, i started a new job 4 weeks ago, initially for a probationary period of 13 weeks.During this time my health has deteriorated, and my GP this week signed me unfit for work for a minimum of 4 weeks .As i did not want to risk loosing my job, i dismissed his advice and went into work yesterday. Unfortunatly my Manager noticed that i wasn't performing aswell and sent me home.To my shock today i have recieved a letter informing me that my employment has been terminated. My dilema is now that i am unsure how i go about enqiuring what benefits i maybe entitled to, until i am fit to look for work ( housing, unemplyment or sickness etc) Am i still classified as unfit for work? Thanks in advance.

  6. I have been unemployed for 6 months plus and i am now claiming job seekers allowance(income based).Earlier this year my relationship broke down and the house we shared was sold. After paying debts off i was left with 40k.I am now renting the flat i moved into, and have notified the job centre of my change of address. As i wasnt asked if my financial situation had cjanged i did not inform them of what proceeds i was left with from the sale of the property.(Was there any need to do this?) My local council have now informed me that i may be eligable for upto £90 weekly towards my rent, and help towards my council tax. Aparently if the proceeds i have are for another property purchase then this is an exception to the general rules, and i am eligable for help. I would like to make a claim, but i am concerned that as i did not notified the job centre of monies from the sale of my property that i will be excluded, and would have been illegible for claiming my JSA, and therefore i would be asked to repay what i have claimed since the sale of the property. PLEASE HELP Thanking you in advance
  7. Hi all This is my first thread, and i am hoping you will be able to give me the much needed information i need. I am and have been out of work for around 12 mths, and have been claiming JSA, which i believe is now income based. Although i have owned my property outright, i have also been able to claim help towards my council tax. I have now accepted an offer on my property, which should be finalised within the next 3 weeks. After paying my debts off, i am hoping to clear £45000.00.My short term plan is to move to privatly rented property, for 12 months, and then hopefully purchase again. Therefore a large portion of the estimated £45000 i would like to keep towards a large deposit. I would like to know if i. ......... 1) Will still be able to claim JSA until i return to work(currently aprox £126 every other week) 2)Will i still get assistance with council tax, and if so at what level. 3) Will i be entitled to any financial help towards my rent. Thanking you in anticipation Craig
