  1. We are sending all paperwork to the Dublin address, registered post. We were stuck in Portugal for one week we are claiming the cost of the villa for a week ( a third of the cost of staying in a hotel ) and a hot restaurant meal a day ( we went to the superrmarket for other meals as we could prepare cold meals at the villa), I belive we could claim upto 3 meals a day plus accommodation so I would hope that Ryanair will see reason. We are talking to our other insurer about what we can claim on the extra weeks car rental and petrol but they have now said we talk to the airline first despite a
  2. Hi, we were stuck in portugal via Ryaniar, on the first day of the chaos I called my bank Natwest who covered us via the Advantage Gold policy they confirmed they would pay out on this and at that point I was assuming Ryanair would try and find a way to not pay out plus i had no webiste access ( i was on holiday ) and Ryanair didn't answer there phone. Now back and Natwest are saying all claims should be referred to Ryanair. A couple of points, I wondered if anyone had a view? Ryainair is basically accommodation and food. Natwest covers travel, we had a hire car ( we were in a villa in th
  3. I am in a situation where my house sale is about to go through, am going to try and settle a lot fo debt I owe a Scottish collections company about £20K asked them what they would accept first figure £16.7K I said I would have may be £9K and they said immediately "we can drop to £15.5K". They then said phone when you have the cash basically. Any one any stories to relate as to where these companies are settling. Bigger picture we will be moving into rented, so the chance they have off securing the debt will go and I am paying £50 a month so not really making any inroads. Also have a
  4. Well if you know how to make any inroads I'd be pleased to compare notes. They have now sent me the application form and I will complete on the basis of what we hope to buy. If worst comes to worst i will sell and rent and then start afresh. It just strikes me as barking mad that there is no-one at MExpress saying "look these people here ( ie arrears possible repos etc ) have one problem that requires a different answer to people like me ( had a problem BUT can extricate myself from it with a little clear thinking from MExpress ). To be clear I am not having a go at anyone with mortgage
  5. I am trying to deal with these muppets, we are trying to sell and have mortgage with MExpress, was originally told yes you can port and keep mortgage with us. I am selling up paying off £100K of mortgage and clearing all debt to tune of £60K so in all reducing liability by £160K and putting down deposit of about £40K on new home. MExpress now don't know if they can underwrite...... I explained look if you allow me to port mortgage to smaller house I no longer have to service other debt as all paid off ( have satisfied £6.4K off ccjs's this year ), will reduce monthly mortgaage payment by
  6. I will be talking to Amex solicitors lunchtime, what are the three questions I should ask to show I'm serious and get them to take me seriously?
  7. Letter from sol says "we are now applying for judgement" this is dated 6th Feb.
  8. No not been to court yet, sol is working on that bit.....is it to late then to do the stuff you suggested?
  9. They are now at the point of applying to thye court for the judgement, what are the steps I should take then? The sols were, as I mentioned, basically not interested what would muck their day up? The agreement one of the old debtor agencies sent through was a photocopy of the agreement i signed but no other signitures on there. What should I say to the sols tomorrow? Sorry asking a lot here.
  10. I have been the agreement route they responded rather too quickly and accurately. They have applied for a ccj, I spoke to the sols and offered them £3k and they said no way. Were not looking to discuss it .....thoughts? I am thinking I go back with half the balance, say £4700? Any comments welcome.
  11. Thank you I did not realise that, that is very helpful. I shall try at that level, I figure Spratt Endicott, given they have a charge over the house will not feel they have to negotiate? Any thoughts there or would they be targeted on what settlement monies they can bring in?
  12. Hi I am worryingly close to court action with Amex for a debt of about £9K and I have a ccj and charge against my home with Direct Line/RBOS ( via their Solicitors) for £5.3K. I have finally been paid some money that has been due to me since the summer of last year so can now look to negotiate with both parties. Amex have now taken the debt back after letting I think 2 agencies try and recover the debt, over the past 2 years I think I have paid those agencies about £1500 in total, this has not been shown anywhere though in AMEX correspondance to me. What do we think Amex would settl
  13. The sols I am negotiating with in regards to Direct Line/RBOS is Spratt Endicott, I don't know if anyone has had dealings with them?
