  1. Yes, Im proceeding through the financial ombudsman service, trading standards will only look into it if i can proove they have continued to service customers in the same way i.e. no good cars needing repairs. I would love to get more details from you so that I can add this to the list I am compiling for trading standards, this way they will investigate to all of our benefits!
  2. lookinforinfo, as stated in my earlier post the case wasn't as cut and shut as I made out. I have evidence that the vehicle has carried the fault for 3 years prior to my purchase and further evidence that the traders had sold this vehicle to another person a month prior to my purchase. They had then taken it back following a breakdown declaring it was uneconomical to repair but rather than returning it to their suppliers as they told this other guy they would they sold it on to me. Furthermore following my purchase they denied my rejection claims and carried out most of the repairs themselves therefore accepting liability that the vehicle was not at merchantable quality. I have taken legal advise from the AA and also the Citizens Advice Berue and am currently persuing the matter through the Financial Ombudsman. The financers have said i have no right to withold payment and would proceed with debt collection if i did??? Any How My case is fine and Im confident I'll get justice in the matter, however I posted because Im searching for others out there who have had similar issues with the same trader ( I know theres plenty ) so we can jointly approach Watchdog and Trading Standards so that we an protect others from suffering in this way as they continue to sell poor quality vehicle on a daily basis.
  3. Hi All, Im sorry to read about your problems with Car Giant, I too have had a similar experience . I bought a VW Golf for £7000 that died the next day and over the course of twoyears has cost in excess of £2000 to keep it running and is now beyond repair!!! The case is obviously a lot more detailed and complex but writing up a detailed account would take over the site I imagine you all have found dealing diret with Car Giant gets no where, and the have probably been clever and made sure through there conduct that your out of time to complain to any relevant bodies or related financers and therefore getting any action or justice seems impossible. Well I for one am not standing for it, if we can't get our own money back, then the least we can do in return for Car Giant is make sure they can't do it again. I plan to take the case to the Trading Standards, The Retail Motor Industry Federation and Watchdog and would like for anybody ho has had similar experiences to join me in doing so. I will do all the work and prepare petitions etc all I'm asking you for is an email of your contact details and a brief description of your experience including dates etc Watchdog will only do something if there is alot of complaints so forwarding them all in bulk is the best way to get there attention This may help with any individual cases you may be persuing but at the least we will get there misconduct publicised causing them headache and loss in return for the headache and loss they caused us.
