  1. N4B, still trying to get time to find my mortgage paperwork for you. Seeing as so many people are asking, what's the chance of putting together a spreadsheet that'll do the calculations for people?
  2. Mines just been rejected this morning by Watford Council.. nice arrogant letter too. Will put online in a bit..
  3. If it's 0778148xxxx (you're missing a number on the original post), it's C&W Guernsey. Let me know what the full number is and I'll drop C&W a mail.
  4. I wasn't offended, just a little curious as the way you phrased it made it sound like you were tarring everyone with the same brush, and calling everyone else ignorant. Anyway, moving on..!
  5. Can't speak for anyone else but the main reason I put a SAR into Egg isn't for charges etc, it's for something completely different. And TBH in my case time is of the essence, as it's causing untold problems for me and needs to be resolved. Previous attempts to do through normal channels have failed, so now having to result to doing things a different way. Not saying Egg are at fault in every case, but a lot of things I read lead me to think they (and they're not alone, from what I read) are using the 40 day limit and identity requests to their advantage. If they receive the request, and correct payment, then on day 39 decide to write to the individual to ask for further identification, don't you think this is an unreasonable amount of time thats elapsed between the original request and request for further identification?
  6. Not gonna split hairs on this, but from the back of the recorded slip.. If you don't ask you don't get.. I then had to send a follow up letter special delivery to cover the loss of the first one, so it's at least a fiver by now.
  7. Took me half an hour to write it, proof read, print, fold the letter, and so on and so forth. My time is worth £64 an hour, for the purposes of this claim.. .. or it could be that it's the maximum you can claim under standard recorded insurance
  8. Thanks, I know that - but as I said in another thread when you're doing god knows how many of them in one go, all those tenners add up! HSBC have said they'd do it for £2, which was a result.. Worth keeping an eye on recorded, Royal Mail actually 'lost' a recorded item a few weeks back! I resent the letter special, then put in a complaint to Royal Mail for £32 compensation. Knowing my luck I'll get it all back in stamps... which is a bit useless, as I use Smartstamp and print all my postage Will keep you posted..
  9. I sent them £2, they wrote back and asked for a tenner. Even put in a pre-paid envelope for my response too.. although I chose not to use it and send it recorded 1st instead so I can keep tabs on it The exact words were..
  10. Ah gotcha. Thanks for the explanation
  11. They even responded to my DPA request with a recycled envelope and a normal stamp too. Had a business account with Co-Op themselves for a while too, it's amazing the questions they ask - like does your business generate nuclear power, or build weapons of mass destruction? Or by chance are you involved in deforestation in South America? All good though..
  12. Not as stupid a question as you may think, this is from The Co-op DPA response letter (was for Smile): Does this mean I'm going to get a stack of spiral bound notepaper with random biro scribblings on it?
  13. Check the wording of what you signed very carefully. If you said you'd never claim your bank charges back again, then I guess you're a bit stuck (sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong). Stupid question, but if your DDs are being paid without you having enough funds, why don't you just cancel your DDs for the time being and pay things manually? If you can't afford to pay them, that's a whole different kettle of fish.
  14. Afternoon.. sending off my SAR request to Egg today. Slightly modified it to request *all* information they hold, and also put in there.. .. just in case they try to stall me (as I believe they like doing, from reading the other threads). This is a slightly more complicated case than the usual unfair charges stuff, will post more when I've got something more to tell
  15. Can you post a link to your thread (save me looking through? Thx!) So basically, if I read this right, someone has opened a Littlewoods catalogue account, which shows as not only a credit check but also an active/historic account on your Equifax/Experian/etc files? And it's not actually yours? I'm thinking at this rate we're gonna end up with our own CRA subforum
  16. Take ten people, ask them who their recommended bank is, stand back, and watch the sparks fly as no one will agree All as bad as each other.. although saying that I always found Smile were good til they really ****ed me off one day and threatened to have me arrested at a Co-Op branch for turning up 5 minutes before closing to pay in some cash to put me back within my OD limit
  17. Any chance one of the mods can merge this with http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=10295 - would make more sense to keep it all in one thread.
  18. Not sure about Experian as I'm still working on getting my report (any day now!), but Equifax divide it up into credit searches, and 'other searches'. What category are yours in? I wrote to Equifax, and said: To which they replied.. (stand by for the usual fob off!) Perhaps Tom, like me, didn't give his permission to the companies to search his records. If so, how did they manage to do it?
  19. Well, I think it should say date of issue and date of contravention. . I know it says '(date of issue)' underneath the date, but not sure if that's good enough. Anyhow, how about.. - I question the validity of the PCN as the PCN in question states “You are therefore required to pay a penalty charge of £60 within 28 days” contained on the bottom of the PCN. I find this confusing as it implies payment of the penalty is required from the driver of the vehicle whereas in fact liability rests with the owner of the vehicle. This conflicts with Section 66 (2) Road Traffic Act 1991 and does not adhere to the standards demonstrated clearly by the DoT model ticket
  20. Interesting.. maybe they forgot they didn't (and never did) hold the deeds. But anyway.. I'll dig out the info and PM you in the next few days, as it might take some digging Thanks!
  21. Still no response from Egg's solicitors. Court want proof of payment before certificate of satisfaction is issued, I haven't got that proof, so.. next stop, the solicitors that I used for selling I guess?
  22. Definitely - but can I go a step further? Once you've sorted it with the council, as soon as there's even a whiff of any contact from the bailiff, phone them up and tell them that under no circumstances should they contact you again, and any further contact will be classed as harrassment - which will result in you making a formal complaint to the council and the Magistrates Court - and possibly the police. I got a letter through the door a few days later, remarkably it had a statement showing the payment I made to the council to clear the debt as a minus entry, then the remainder balance (ie the bailiff fees) showing as owed - and they'd come round to take furniture etc to cover that cost. Phoned them up, and when the women tried to argue it I just talked completely over her, stated the above, and put the phone down. Never heard a sausage after that. A bailiff (not the same one as I mentioned above though!) called the police on me once because he said I'd 'assaulted' him by frog-marching him off the premises. Police turned up, and suggested next time I wanted to remove someone I should call them to do it
  23. Thanks everyone. Wasn't intending to speed things up or bypass anything - I have said in my letter back I was disappointed that they took so long to respond, and trust that they will be able to meet their requirements to provide the data within 40 days and no further delays will occur. Would have sent them all £10 each, but didn't have £60 spare at the time. Anyway.. moving on
  24. Good to hear they've finally seen sense. When did you first make your request for the information? I'd start counting the 40 days from then, rather than this latest letter.
