  1. hi, any help on this subject would be great as im sure our landlord has broken the law and refuses to come to any agreement on giving us some rent back. We lived in our previous property for 6 months. A day before we were due to move in we were told the electrics werent working and we couldnt move in for a month. We stayed with parents for a month then moved into our new house. When we arrived we were told the living room heating small cottage with just a fire) still didnt work as they were waiting for parts. There was no other heating in this area and being a cottage with thick walls it ws cold so we didnt use our living room. Four months along the line, lots of phone calls and they finally fix it, in the process breaking our central heating and leaving us without hot water for a week. We found out from the plumber that the reason the fire not being fixed in those four months was because the landlord wanted to see if he could get the parts cheaper and get his mate to do it. we have now moved out and the landlord refuses any compensation because he was 'naffed off' at how we left the house. There were a few minor damages, but these will come out of our £800 deposit. Can we get some money back off this guy? would we need to take him to curt? We left the house at the end of the 6 months as we didnt want this idiot to have any more of our money. It just seems so unfair paying to live in a house where there is no heat in the main living area. Also the tennancy agreement states that the landlord is required to heat every room. Any help is welcome and would be much appreciated. Pippa
