  1. Yeah i will do. She'll be here in about an hour or so, so i'll stick it up then
  2. Yeah thats what i thought. But she spoke to citizens advice and apparently its a legit letter. I just wanted to make sure that if we wrote this letter or filled the form saying there's no chance he's getting money we'd be in the right. He's probs just a really dodgy guy who trys to [problem] students with this every year.
  3. Allegedly it was upped because he had to wait for too long. She's comming round tonight so i can help her write a letter to him. She received a letter from a court, not a summons, just basically asking her to pay the money or state a reason why she won't. Is it best to fill that in than to write a letter?
  4. Right ok. The only damages she was liable for was they painted 2 walls and were not told they needed to be painted back when they left. The guy then billed them for 260 quid for re painting then because she was on holiday and didn't respond, he upped it to 500 for not replying. They also were charged for cleaning the garden (which was a state before they moved in to the point they never used it) and taking stuff to the dump. They also charged for having the fridge and oven cleaned. When they moved out they had cleaned the house to the same state when they moved in basically. So cleaning charges are bull. And no they didn't sign any inventory when they moved in.
  5. Hello guys, A friend of mine who was at Uni last year rented a house with a few other people. As it turns out, when she signed the contract, the guy didn't ask her or anyone for any sort of deposit. Now she has moved out and about 3 months after, he calls her and says she needs to pay like 500 quid to fix somthing that she apparently didn't do. Is she protected by the law here as she wasn't asked for a deposit?
  6. Thank you for your detailed response! I feel i may be in a spot of bother then as i don't recall when it was that i requested the cancelation or the persons name or anything. I guess the only thing i have to work in my favor is that the contract has not been used for about 6 months. Not one single minute or text as i took out another contract when i asked them to cancel it before the renewal. I have my phone set to automatically go to answer phone at the moment as i don't want to talk to them (its buchanan clarke + wells). I just find it to be really dishonest of them to renew a contract without my consent. Whenever i have phoned them and been like WTF are you still charging me for?? they just say theres no record of me contacting them to ask for it to be canceled. You think i should file a complaint with them then?
  7. Hi guys, Just a quick question really. I had a t-mobile contract a few years ago and asked them to cancell it at the next renewal. However i keeping getting bills from them at about £35 a month and its now at the debt collectors for a few hundred. I've spoken with them and they say i said no such thing to them and i must pay it. Naturally i tell them where to go. I just need to know... If i didn't sign a contract to renew it, are they legally allowed to continue charging me? Could i just ask the debt collector for the contract (which doesn't exist) to shut them up? any help would be great. Thanks!
  8. Basically, i have 2 accounts with HSBC. One is a normal account and one is the Plus account (which i pay for the 'pleasure') I recently got my student loan into my normal account and am experiencing financial difficulties as hsbc keep giving me 175 pound bank charges. My plus account was 440.38 overdrawn (no overdraft and most of that being bank charges) Ive just logged on to my online banking now and seen that hsbc have transfered 440.38 from my normal account into my plus account thus taking the balance to 0. WTF!? is this legal?? Are they just allowed to move my money around without telling me about it?? Ive chekced the t's and c's and cant find anything. Please help me! That was my rent money!!
  9. Hi guys, Not sure if i'm posting on the right section, but im really ****ed off at the moment. Basically I was just on my way out earlier today and i got a knock on the door. I opened it and it was the repair guy who does maintenance around the apartment building. He said he was asked to do some (non urgent) repairs on the lights. He then showed me the keys to my place that the management office gave him. I obviously told him where to go and he left. Didnt hear anything back from the management office (who are on site and also have my number). later this evening, all the lights in my kitchen exploded - shattering glass all over the place! I only moved in about a week ago and was not told of any problems at all. So now im even more angry that: a) they obviously knew about a fault with our lights and b) they gave some random maintenance guy our damn keys without asking us 5 days in advance as written in our tenancy agreement, who would have then just gone into our apartment and done whatever. What action can i take? Can i sue them? Coz who knows how many people have been in here before without me knowing!
