  2. Hi all Several weeks ago i was approached by a specialist recruitment agency for a job in Africa. I submitted all relevant c.v's, and qualifications etc., which were all genuine, and was offered the post for a minimum of 6months. I gave in my notice, to a firm i had been with for several years, and took up my new role. However, it transpired that the job in fact was differant to what i do, and in fact wasn't qualified for, and i was(quite correctly) let go after 6weeks. This has left me unemployed, and out of pocket. Have i got grounds for any legal action against the recruitment agency here, as they promised me 6 months work on the strength of the information a gave them, which was honest and true. I am down at least £32,000.
  3. Just noticed your thread. My case was settled early last year(check the thread history). I too was ordered to attend a pre-lim hearing by the court, and just before........Abbey settled(shock horror!) Hopefully you'll get the same. Good Luck.
  4. sorry guys, what i actually meant by interest, is the interest i have been charged per month on my overdraft. I'm assuming it is legal for them to charge interest on my overdraft, and as such un-reclaimable. Is that assumption correct?
  5. I am about to begin a claim against the natwest. Having received my statements, i have realised my account has actually changed from a "current plus" to an "advantage gold" and is now a current account. I have read natties thread concerning the "ag" account, but with the subsequent current account, there are monthly entries just labelled "charges"(the amount varies); is this reclaimable? Also, is ALL the interest i have been charged whilst overdrawn over the past several years reclaimable? I would be grateful if anyone could answer these questons, or at least point me in the direction of any relevant threads. Thanks All
  6. I found this website address yesterday, it's very helpful: Private PCN issued at Petrol Station! - FightBack Forums It seems there is quite a few of us in the same boat.
  7. On 2nd September 2006, i pulled into the BP garage at Gatwick Airport. i parked in a marked bay, bought a sandwich, a cup of tea and a newspaper, and got back in my car to eat my sandwich, drink my tea, and read my newspaper. Last Friday i received a parking charge from a private company(civil enforcement ltd) from Nottingham, asking for £150 , £75 if settled inside two weeks. Iwas parked there for 37mins(which i don't dispute), which was a breach of terms and conditions "prominently displayed at the entrance and around the car park". I don't dispute they were there, but i didn't see them. what should i do?
  8. sorry to but in on your thread guys, but just some support. Keep at the buggers, they really are pirates, and they will pay in the end. I wonder after reading so many stories on this web-site how the banks(all of them-not just shabby) can sleep at night, and the really mad thing is, they're STILL charging people, knowing fully well it is illegal. How can they get away with this. Anyway ,good luck.
  9. Last week, i chequed my account to find £2790 in my account, this was slightly more than i claimed, but there have been a couple of charges since my initial claim; the thing is , i've received no notification of either Abbey ,or DLAPiper about this being settlement without admitting liability etc.. Should i have? Also, the charges levied against me DID causse real hardship to me and my family, DID cause me stress, and DID cause pressure on my relationship with my wife. In view of the settlement, what steps can i take to sue Abbey for compensation, or have i "missed the boat" for that cause of action? Finally, how do i donate?
  10. Wild, well done seminole- we'll both have a drink this week eh?
  11. Cannot submit exact details as i'm working away from home until the weekend, but abbey have paid me £2700+ into my account. I'm not sure of the exact figure, but there it is!!!! A big thank you to anyone on this marvelous web-site that helped me, especially when my resolve was weak, and to anyone else who is in the same boat......DON'T GIVE UP, be strong and they'll pay in the end. They have to WE are right. Once again, CHEERS EVERYBODY.
  12. well well angry princess, thought i'd post on your thread for a change! Looks like i'm on my own now then eh? So from this Chester Boy.................................. WELL DONE AND CONGRATULATIONS GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. when did you receive notification of that then?
  14. sounds the same to me. Mines on the 10th august. I'll post the full letter tomorrow and you can make your own mind up. What day is yours on?
  15. i've been ordered to appear at a preliminary hearing in the middle of august to discuss expert witnesses, amongst other things. As far as i know, this is a first on this web site(i'd be interested to know if it isn't). From what i can gather having read through some other bank's threads, the Abbey just seems to be the one which is taking the longest to roll over. They seem to fight each case as long as they can I will get back to you over this , can you please post this in your own thread so as not to hi-jack this one , thanks
  16. i've been reading someone else's thread, and if i'm not mistaken, they said that if requested i could read the submitions on abbey's allocation questionnaire; is that so?
  17. sorry to but in so late in your thread, but have dla piper got to reveal the details of their alloation questionnaire on request? i've got a pre-lim hearing in a month, and that information would certainly help.
  18. thanks for that al; the letter also says that if either side fails to turn up, an order may be made against them, and also that if both sides agree at the hearing , he can make a decision. Should i push for this do you think. Also in the other case , what was the outcome?
  19. received notification today of a prelim hearing to consider "use of expert evidence;special directions as to the evidence to be filed; time estimate for the final hearing. Any thoughts anyone?
  20. if it's any help, they have used the same tactic with me(you can compare their defence on my thread) and (eventually) NeilP. Personally, i've refused the offer and am now awaiting a court date, but obviously the decision is yours.
  21. sorry to harp on seminole, but do you think if i send(by post) a copy to the court, and a copy(by e-mail) to the solicitor(dla piper), that should cover it?
  22. cheers seminole.... i have followed all the guidelines in the step-by-step(l.b.a etc), and used the excel facility to calculate the interest etc-should i just send the court in the spreadsheet(and abbey), with a key to the breakdown, or a morer detailed document(inc. photocopies of relevant statements) do you think?
