that's a good point SH, I will send the statute barred letter tomorrow. I am not in Scotland and the letter basically said, you repossessed the car and are still looking for the full amount and I am not paying it. Thanks for your help

that's the problem, I definitely have not made a payment but I cant remember if the letter I sent was 6 years ago or if it was about 5 and a half years ago!!!

I received a letter today from a finance company regarding a car I had that got repossessed over 6 years ago. I distinctly remember at the time that they chased me for the full amount even though they took the car. The original company was On:line finance. I did at some point send a letter to On:line stating I am not paying it because you took the car and are now chasing for the same amount of money. I know for a fact the debt is statute barred as it was in 2001 when they took the car, I still have the receipt they gave me when they took it! However I am not 100% certain when I sent the letter saying I wasn't paying and what I don't want to do is send a statute barred letter and find I sent the old letter in the last six years. A crazy one I know, can anyone help? Thank You
