  1. The total amount for the gas I have used from August to December 2008 is £40.26. My first gas bill in August was £5.31 and with VAT this came to £5.57 which was duly paid. My present bill is £34.98 and the VAT on this is £1.74, which means my present bill should have been £36.97. However British Gas have charged £2.01 VAT (the total sum of the cost of gas I have used) When I have already paid the VAT on my first bill. I wonder how many other people this has happend to?
  2. I took out a mortgage with HSBC in 1999 and I was told that one of the conditions of the loan was that I had to take out a PPI. At the time I was only working on a part-yearly basis (January to September) So for three months of the year I was going to be unemployed anyway. I eventually cancelled my PPI without any hassle a few years ago. Since it was so long that I was made to purchase this insurarance, which was really of no use to me, I am not really sure if I can make a claim to the bank to recover my money.
