Hi all, my elderly disabled mother has recently moved to a bungalow from her three bedroom house. The bungalow she has moved into doesn't have an active phoneline therefore until she can afford to have the line activated she has decided to stick with her PAYG mobile phone. Back in May this year (21 st May) my mum had received a phonecall despite being a member of the telephone preferencing service from some BT sales person who I believe bullied her into taking out a free evening and weekend promotional 12 month contract (My mum is very vulnerable). I have a copy of a letter sent to my mum dated 23rd May 2008 stating "since we have already started to provide this deal, as agreed, you no longer have the right to cancel". Surely this is in breach of The Consumer Credit Act 1974? My mum has just received a bill at her new address charging her £100.26 penalty charge. She cannot afford to pay this bill. I am furious is there anything I can do?
