I have just been charged £22 for going over drawn, this was a mistake and I put the funds in the account 1 day later. This was a "reserve usage fee" overdraft charge. They said they will not cancel any charges which are not down to bank errors, they say this is a policy as of the 180808. They state even if it was a highly lucrative account for them they would still not cancel charges (which i do not accept at all). Can I get these charges back, if so how? Thanks in advance.

a major increase in my use of electric units?
Paul35 replied to Paul35's topic in Utilities - Gas, Electricity, Water
The power supplier have admitted that an incorrect meter reading (by one of their meter readers) has probably caused the problem. They have not yet given me any specific information as to how and when it all went wrong, all they have offered me is an adjusted bill which still charges me for 6457 units yet at the pre electric price rise. I have refused this and they are taking it to their management. I get the feeling this could run and run! It just feels like they are hoping I would respond to a slight reduction in my bill, yet as far as I can see at the moment thay have got their figures in a total mess and are just grasping at figures and hoping I pay up. -

a major increase in my use of electric units?
Paul35 replied to Paul35's topic in Utilities - Gas, Electricity, Water
That could make sense as we have had a lot of new electric work / light fittings over the last 2 years. If you do not mind can you please give a bit more detail as to the problem / solution. Thanks Paul -
My electricity unit use is roughly 1400 per quarter. My last bill has come in at 6000 units. This is a read meter as opposed to an est. I cannot think of any practical reason why there should be such a sudden surge in use. Could it be a faulty meter? Has anybody else had any similar experiences before I speak to my electric supplier? Thanks in advance

threatening council letters re council tax
Paul35 replied to Paul35's topic in Welcome to the Consumer Forums
Thanks a lot I have put it into the relevant section. -
Hi I pay my council tax via debit card, I admit to always being late (i.e. I need a reminder before I pay). I have never ever failed to make a payment, however our council (bury-uk) operate a three reminder system in which after 3 reminders for seperate payments the full outstanding amount is demanded. They threaten legal action and the full payment within 7 days else a court summons will appear and I have to pay the costs. Can I challenge this? Can they make me pay the costs? Is this all just hot air on their part? Thanks in advance
