  1. Hi woodpop, Just wondered if you have heard anything from those amex boys? They sent me a nice letter telling me the APR would be changing next month.....which is nice!
  2. There is a very good explaination by tinkerbelle re working out interest its under the nationwide group in reply to Juicy on 21st may if you can find it. http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=7056&page=3 It is worth looking at as it explains the difference between interest charged on your account and the interest you can charge when you file your court claim. Plus tinkerbelles posts are usually good to read! Good luck with your claim
  3. I am just in the middle of going through my statements for Barclaycard. I kept all mine and they date from July 1999. At the moment it appears that i missed several payments and I can find no penalty charges at that time for missing payments or for late payments. They used to politely remind me that I had forgotten to make a payment and include the minimum payment in with the next months request. On my account there used to be a yearly membership fee, but never any penalties until a statement for Feb 2002. A late payment charge for £15, rising to £20 in Sept 02 and it has been that charge ever since. I believe it was around this time that they also got rid of the annual fee, probably they realised how much more money they could make by implementing late payment penalties. Hope this helps, though I'm sure this is not what you wanted to hear.
  4. Hi Ragster, Am in the same boat, I sent my prelim letter on 23rd May asking for £207 in charges to be refunded. I had a reply offering £60 on the 26th May. I have amended the letter before action to include a section saying I will accept this offer only as an interim payment and not as full and final settlement and that I am seeking immediate repayment of the full amount. As the letter before action is due to go on Monday anyway, and they have made an offer, I decided to combine both points. They should get this on friday so they just have it before the weekend! Hope this helps, if you have time the LBA is in the library. But I have seen other peoples letters on different threads listed in this halifax section. Libertie p.s. I haven't signed the form yet but my understanding of this is that if you want to sign it you can cross out anything which you don't agree to i.e.the full & final settlement bit.
  5. Hi Woodpop, I am new to this too but have spent a fair bit of time reading lots of threads, I would say yes you are right, stick to your time plan and send your letter before action 14 days after your prelim letter. Interestingly I sent my prelim to Amex on Mon 22 May and just got the standard reply back this morning ( scarily efficient compared to other establishments!) Hope all goes well for you, its good to know others are out there in the same boat. keep in touch ----------------------------------------------------------------- Prelim to Amex sent 22/5/06 Prelim to Halifax sent 23/5/06
  6. Thank you Vampiress, it helps enormously knowing other people are out there..... and in similar situations. Will keep you updated.
  7. I just wanted to say have just finished typing my prelim letter to halifax, it is late so will be off to the post box in the morning. I have been reading everyones threads for the past week and you have all inspired me to ask for my charges refunding. It's only small compared to some peoples but am starting off:) I was in my local branch today the man there is lovely. When I asked for address details for halifax he was intrigued to know why. I told him and he said he would be very interested to hear of my outcome so that he could tell other customers how to go about asking for their charges back! Am going in tomorrow with full details of the website. How cool would that be if he had your details on his counter!! Prelim to Amex 22/5/06 Prelim to Halifax sent 23/5/06
