  1. Aldi is another company who has just employed a questionnable PPC to 'look after' their customers. I will go to my local market - friendlier too.
  2. The ball starts rolling in the local press? Needs a few balls all at once. Snooker break...
  3. And in addition I received a final demand from Rossendales Colllect:As you have not paid we are entitled to issue legal action through your local court, which may result in:- Judgment/Decree being entered against you An order being made to secure the debt against any property you own Your personal effects being sold to repay the debt. We will also instruct them to ask the court to award statutory interest and add legal costs which will significantly increase your debt. Any court judgment lasts for 6 years and will severely affect your ability to obtain credit in the future. (so there - Ed)) Any legal eagles here...? ho hum.
  4. Are they getting closer? Bogus parking ticket warning in Todmorden Published Date: 19 February 2009 A BOGUS parking ticket has been issued in Todmorden to a disabled badge holder by an organisation operating without jurisdiction. CPM, Carpark Management UK Ltd, of Accrington, issued a ticket for £60 to Todmorden resident Stephenie Booth, who was parked in Bramsche Square car park on Saturday, January 17, even though there was a disabled badge on display in the windscreen. But through an investigation carried out by the Todmorden News it has been revealed that the organisation is not authorised to issue tickets in any Calderdale Council car park controlled by the parking services department, which includes Bramsche Square. The Primary Care Trust, which owns the nearby Rose Street Health Centre car park, has also said that the organisation is not issuing tickets on their behalf. At the time unaware that the organisation had no jurisdiction to issue tickets Mrs Booth attempted to appeal the decision by sending a letter explaining the presence of a disabled badge, which has been issued to Mrs Booth's husband Tony, a photocopy of the badge and a cheque for £60 as requested. But when her bank informed her that the cheque had been banked she stopped it immediately. CPM then sent her a letter saying that as the cheque had been stopped she had not paid the penalty in time and now the charge would be £86. "I sent the cheque for £60 in good faith hoping that when they opened the envelope they would see the letter about the disabled badge and realise there had been a mistake. But instead they banked it. "I thought the organisation was working for Calderdale Council; I didn't realise they shouldn't have been giving out tickets there at all," said Mrs Booth. Martin Gonzalez, of Calderdale Council's parking services, said: "I have spoken with Mrs Booth about the details of the ticket she has received. "The ticket was not issued by parking services, as the amount she has been fined doesn't match any of the amounts we charge, and her ticket doesn't have the standard council reference number on it. "We have advised Mrs Booth to contact the company which has issued the ticket, to ask them to provide proof that the ticket has been issued legally, and not on parking services property. "If the ticket is found to have been issued on parking services property, we will take action. No third party organisation has the authority to issue parking tickets within parking services car parks. "If this is what has happened we will be contacting the other parking enforcement company to ensure this doesn't happen again." Mrs Booth has written to the organisation again requesting proof that they have issued the ticket legally. West Yorkshire Trading Standards would be interested to hear from anyone else who may have been issued a bogus parking ticket. "From a legal point of view if this organisation has been issuing tickets in a car park in which they do not have jurisdiction then that is fraud. "We need to look at the evidence in this case," said Dave Lodge, of Trading Standards. He said that there are civil and criminal sanctions that can be taken against organisations that have been operating in a fraudulent manner if sufficient evidence can be found. The police said they were not currently investigating any organisations giving out car parking tickets in this area. CPM has not been available for comment. To contact the Trading Standards telephone 08454 040506. - If you have been issued a bogus parking ticket contact the Todmorden News reporter Carol Longbottom at [email protected]
  5. If they don't use the post office, but an alternative, the post office can't date stamp.
  6. Parksafe Carpark Management. Just to let you folks know that this very misleading web site has now disappeared, and so maybe has the company. Not sure whether BPA or TS has had a hand in that but will continue to pursue these people. Carpark Management UK Ltd which had same telephone number but incorrectly registered address with Companies House has yet to reply to CH. Will post again when I know anything. I was contacted by phone by Rossendales Collect as they had been nudged by CPM to chase my debt to them...
  7. Hi, I don't think they will take any notice. The CPM (carparks) didn't and neither have the debt collectors. Even with Special Delivery they said they didn't get the letter. If your cause is just and the fine you got is not legitimate then don't respond. Once they do get a letter you have supplied them with an address. Mind you, anything they send can be kept as evidence, even ones saying they haven't received your letter. I don't know about the companies you are dealing with - they may have 'history' and maybe someone her can advise.
  8. I've copied the letter guys, just in case. From my past experience they don't respond at all and pretend they haven't had the letter. I suspect they just take the cheques out, any without are binned. If it gets annoying I've got a couple of choices. Must be one of the industries that's booming now. Cheers.
  9. Thanks, will tell my fella that! Still wonder how they got a number that's not in my name.
  10. Hi, I have posted about this before and was told I was near the end. Not quite. Tonight there was a call from 'Keiron' to a number not listed in my name, but my fellas. He said he wanted to sort my debt out as CPM had called him. Obviously they want the money. I told him it was not my number but asked where he'd got it from. Said I must have rung up and left mine. Well, anyone who's read my postings will know i wouldn't ring. He then said it was given by a 3rd party. (I'm not in phone book). I asked who but he wouldn't say. Some cause for concern here - ring up my workplace, my friends. Dodgy practice? I told him debt was in dispute, CPM was being looked at by TS and that I had sent letters to his company, Rossendale's Collect with no reply. Well, got one on Friday, a third, as if I'd never contacted them - computer generated? He said it was nothing to do with him he just had to collect the money. Told him to go and read the letters his boss must have. He seemed keen for me to ring HIM up and wanted a different number which of course I wouldn't give. Put the phone down. Can't say he was rude (yet). Any thoughts? Support from here would be great as I have a fella who just thinks I'm mad for NOT going along and paying up!
  11. It is interesting that the Court decision is being investigated - the MP is involved. I cna see why bailiffs may well be needed to collect debts but I'm just trying to put myself in the position of being taken to a cash point .....
  12. Full article: BBC NEWS | England | Lancashire | Man dies during visit by bailiff 'Mr Miller's family said they had told the Lancashire magistrates who ordered the bailiffs about his health problems. Justice Minister Jack Straw has ordered an inquiry into Mr Miller's death. The bailiff called at his house in India Street on 7 January and persuaded him to get into his car and go to Accrington town centre. The father-of-five collapsed on his way to a cash machine while the bailiff parked and waited for the money. 'Under duress' The death is not being treated as suspicious.'
  13. Keep ignoring the letters. I think this is their web site: MET Parking Services Three more Mcdonald's (December 2008) We have recently been selected by McDonald’s Restaurants to manage the car parks at a further three of its restaurants using our Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system bring the total number of car parks we operate on there behalf to more than 40. That might give you an insight into who you are dealing with. Another thing, do they actually dress up in uniform as in the pictures? I can appreciate that those who have land which their customers use can get fed up with 'outsiders' parking vehicles there. This happens at my workplace and at my local health centre. However, the standards of companies that are employed to enforce vary considerably. If they are breaking the BPA code then complain to Richard Hilton at BPA.
  14. I agree. Don't phone either. They wrote to me saying they hadn't received any reply. Yes, lamma, took your advice and sent an in dispute letter by SD. Anyway I went to Royal Mail Collection/Delivery office almost next door to them and the posties were stunned since the guy picks up every morning and signs for it. Even got his name. Sent a 1st class letter with copy of original and to tell em that they had communication/ organisational problems in their office - just for the hell of it. Instructed them not to correspond with me again. We'll see.
  15. Great money spinning racket - the only business in Britain that's booming?
  16. Ditto. They 'bank' on intimidating people into paying - and so many are that it makes it a worthwhile [problem]. Since no 'law' is broken, it's hard to see why your 'offence' should land you in court.
  17. I would agree that it is best not to correspond with them. If you do contact them send the template letter. I did this but it was ignored. I do however, have it as evidence that they were informed. After some agitating etc,. The parking company concerned has been written to by Trading Standards who were 'leaned on' by my MP; TS have told my mP they are waiting for a response. Companies House has also written to them regarding irregularities. I am interested to see what happens next, and with the support available on this site I am not intimidated and will battle on.
  18. Well, you haven't had a response yet. Have visited TS site and bookmarked your recommendation...just in case. Cheers
  19. Got that Lamma. Good luck boxmorg. Just out of curiousity have you seen the attendant who gave you the advice in the first place? His training may not have been up to scratch?
  20. Hoping so. It'll be a nice tale to tell the grandchildren. I'll look up those acronyms - this site is a real education! Thanks.
  21. hi, Guys, I keep jumping around from thread to thread and have found solace in knowing there are others in the same boat regarding letters from Rossendales Collect. Much needed as my husband would just pay up anything. I am stirring it as much as I can by compaining to authoritative bodies but I have heard, but may be wrong that the behaviour of PPCs is being brought up in the House of Commons next year. Correct me do.
  22. I have had 4 demands from a PPC and 2 demands from Rossendale Collect. Do you think that it is likely I will receive any more demands from the debt collectors? I looked up PATAS as I'd never heard of it but it doesn't deal with Parking Charge Notices - is there an organisation that deals with these, like PATAS. I would consider looking at compensation for harrassment if it goes on.
  23. Well, I have followed advice and ignored the invoices from a dodgy PPC - Carpark Management Ltd, who sent me 4 demands to pay an invoice which was no where near so 'professional looking' as NCPs. My case is now being 'dealt' with by Rossendale Collect from whom I have had 2 letters. Do I just ignore these as well? I have been pretty proactive about passing all info on to powers that be but I'm wondering just when they will give up. OK, invoice not enforceable, some people seem to think it is. You will have to stay tough.
