  1. Hi All I am after a bit of advice please. I had a payday loan with Uncle Buck about 2 and a half years ago for £400. When I couldn't repay it back in full I contacted them and offered to pay in installments which they refused. I have heard nothing from them until today when I received an email from Carter Forbes Collections stating that I owed £3424 and that I should contact them to arrange repayment. I do not have an issue with repaying what I initially borrowed but do not understand how they have come up with the figure that they have. Can anyone advise on what I should do? Kind regards
  2. Hi All I have just received an email from Wageday Advance informing me that if I do not agree a repayment plan within the next 7 days they will issue a summons against me. The email goes on to say that once they have obtained judgment they will get an attachment of earnings and/or instruct bailiffs to come round and seize goods to the value of the debt. Am I right in thinking that bailiffs can only be instructed to attend if I default on a CCJ set by the courts? Would like to know this before I send my email back informing them of the rules Kind regards C xx
  3. I have another account with HSBC - when I get in work on Monday I am going to change my account details and have my salary paid in to that one - hopefully they will be able to set it up before the end of the month. Thanks
  4. Hi everyone I am just after a bit of advice. I have received a letter from Yorkshire Bank this morning stating that they have reviewed my overdraft facility and it is no longer appropriate and if I don't contact them within 30 days they will reduce it by over £1000. Obviously this will leave me in a mess - I am going to contact them on Monday (the lines are closed today) and try to arrange a repayment with them but all I can afford is £50 per month. Has anyone else had any dealings with Yorkshire Bank like this and are they likely to accept my £50 offer? Thank you
  5. Hi I had a loan with Uncle Buck which I could not repay about 4 months ago - I tried to set up a payment plan with them but they refused point blank. I then received a letter stating that it had been passed to Meritforce - this was over 3 months ago and as yet I have received nothing from Meritforce. I do check my online banking at least once a day for any direct debits that may have been set up - they did set one up but I cancelled it before they had chance to take anything and they haven't tried again since. With regards
  6. Hi I have a debt with Capital One that was passed to Debitas - they refused to accept a reasonable payment plan and then I received a letter from Power to Contact - fortunately they never turned up. After about 2 months Debitas gave up and passed the debt to Capquest. Firstly I sent them the CCA request to which they sent a valid CCA and then they did not hesitate to accept a £10 per month repayment offer. This has been up and running now for a couple of months with no problems. Regards
  7. Thank you very much, will get that posted tomorrow and wait and see what happens xx
  8. Hi All Today I have received a letter from AIC (dated 16/07/09) regarding an alleged debt that I have with MBNA stating that they have tried to contact me on numerous occasions and I have failed to respond (this is the first I have heard from them) and that I now need to repay the whole balance immediately (approx £6k) or they will consider issuing legal proceedings. The letter also suggests that I can pay them by credit card. This debt is in dispute with MBNA as they have failed to provide a copy of the CCA (just a crappy application form with no terms and conditions). I am a bit unsure as to what to do next and what letter I should send to them. Can anyone help please? Thanks M00nwalk00 xx
  9. Hia I had several loans with multiple lenders - quickquid, ptp, payday uk, wonga and uncle buck. I succesfully set up arrangements (and have finished paying them now) with ptp - via clarity, wonga via credit resource solution and payday uk via keyes whitlock. So that is 3/5 fully repaid. Quickquid refuse to accept a payment arrangement as did uncle buck. Uncle Buck threatened to pass the debt to meritforce but as yet I have heard nothing from them. Thanks M00nwalk00
  10. Hi Not heard anything else from either Uncle Buck or Meritforce. I did not write any cheques for them so do not have that to worry about although they did try to set up a DD after I had contacted them stating that I could not pay the full amount - I cancelled this with the bank and told that any request from this company to set up a DD in the future should be declined (my bank were really helpful). Will post again when Meritforce contact me but by the sounds of it if they cannot get the level of repayment they want from me they will pass back to Uncle Buck anyway. Funny thing is - if they had accepted my payment proposal they would have had £150 back so far!!! Thanks
  11. Just an update, my mum, my 2 sisters and myself have received letters from Great Universal stating that as they are unable to locate the credit agreements they will not be enforcing the debt! Thanks for all the advice
  12. Hi Got another letter from Uncle Buck stating that they will take further recovery action through the county court without any further warning then further down the letter state the account will be passed to Meritforce in 7 days. Will post again when Meritforce contact me. Regard
  13. Just checked internet banking and Uncle Buck had set up a direct debit - needless to say I was straight on the phone to the bank to cancel it. Will wait on them passing the account to meritforce and take it from there.
  14. I have had a default letter from therm this morning. Says they will pass the account to Meritforce in 21 days - I am going to wait for them to do this as they will not enter into a repayment arrangement with me even though I had tried. Are Meritforce easy to deal with? Thanks
  15. I have started to check my account on a daily basis - both morning and evening just to make sure! Haven't heard anything else from them yet. I have reported them to the OFT (and copied them in on the e-mail) with reference to the threats made to visit me at my work place. Thanks for all the advice. I will post again when I hear something from them.
  16. Hi I have already "lost" my card and now have a new one and am checking on a daily basis to make sure they don't set up a DD! Will let you know when meritforce contact me! Thanks for your help xx
  17. Hi I stupidly took out a loan with Uncle Buck a couple of months ago which I am now unable to repay in full. I have received the following e-mail from Uncle Buck, despite contacting them and asking if I can repay £50 per month. Can they really threaten to visit me at my place of work or ask my bank to pay them from my next payday without my permission? Despite our previous communication, your account remains in arrears. Unless you contact us within three days to arrange repayment this matter will be referred to our collections dept. Their procedure will include:- 1) instructing a debt collection agency, MeritForce, to make contact with you directly in order to visit you at your home or place of work. 2) commencing proceedings against you in the County Court. There will be significant additional charges should this become necessary and your credit status will be at risk. In addition we may also apply to your bank for the entire balance outstanding on your next payday, if this payment is not honoured your bank may also impose charges. If you are in financial difficulty it is important that you contact us now and we will do our best to assist you. I strongly urge you to make contact today either by email at [email protected] or by telephone on 0800 328 9263 before further action is required. A fee of £10 has been added to your account. R
  18. Thanks again! Will get the letter in the post tomorrow.
  19. Hi Thanks for the replies. There are quite a lot of late payment charges/fees on the account as they send statements out every 28 days and I only get paid once a month so the payment is normally a week late. I sent the CCA request as they were continually phoning and harrassing me and was pretty certain that I had never signed anything. Now I have it in writing that they do not have one so I am going to put the account in dispute and was just wondering how to go about it - so will send the letter posted above tomorrow. Thanks again xx
  20. Hi I sent a CCA request to Great Universal and today received a response stating that they are unable to locate a copy of the executed agreement but they are including the terms and conditions that cover my type of account. In the letter they also state the amount of repayments that have been made in the past year and the current balance. I am now unsure as to what letter to send back to them. Please can someone point me in the right direction. With regards
  21. Thanks. Will just ignore it for now and see what happens. Dont like what I have read about this company though - apparently they phone round neighbours and things like that
  22. Hi Just after a bit of advice. We received a letter today addressed to the Occuppier. When opened it states that we are looking for .......... at ................ (my husbands name and our address). This is in relation to a personal matter. If you are this person or know the whereabouts of this person any information you can give me will be treated with the utmost confidence. The letter is from a company called J2 Solutions. My husband has no debt, I do but am on repayment plans with everything. I am just wondering what we should do, I have read several things on the internet about this company and it seems like phoning them is not a good idea. Do we just ignore the letter or send something back? Thanks
  23. Hia Thanks for that. I sent both of the letters above and today have received what MBNA state is my CCA (I do not have the facility to scan). The document is 4 pages stapled together with Application Form clearly written on the top (the rest is pretty ineligible), can someone tell me what letter I need to send to them now? Thanks again
  24. Hi I sent a CCA request to MBNA in November 2008 and have not had a reply as yet - I have proof of delivery and proof that the £1 postal order was cashed. I have since sent the ' Account in Dispute ' letter. On Monday I received a postcard through the post stating that someone would be calling w/c 12th January and if this was inconvenient to call a number - there was no address or indication as to where the card came from (did have a very nice pic on the front) I googled the number and it was MBNA. On Thursday a letter arrived stating that if I did not respond by 22nd January 2009 they will commence legal proceedings . I am unsure of what response I should send back - please can someone help. Thanks
