Hi, I need guidance/advice on the matter above. I used to study in UK for 6 years and before I left UK for my home country for good in 2003, I had a student overdraft with HSBC (UK) amounting to about GBP 1,500. At that time, I had the intention to pay back progressively via the HSBC branch in my country after I start my new job in my country. However, I was earning just enough to cover my daily expenses and did not have the money to pay my overdraft as what I initially planned. Now that I am more financially stable, I wish to pay back the overdraft amount I owed. However, I am worried that I may have to pay the accrued overdued interest on the overdraft since 2003. Please advise me on how I should go about settling my overdraft. Is my overdraft considered as statute barred? If so, what are its implications on me? Can I still enter UK in the future with the overdraft unpaid? Can I still pay the amount owed without having to pay the accrued overdue interest? Thanks in advance.
