  1. Regarding the communication about warranty I specifically asked about warranty work being done by a Jeep dealer close to our residence and was told it would not be an issue if claim is approved. I really thought it was a warranty backed by Jeep. Regarding me being third owner they stated that prior to the current owner before me there was only one owner. A play on words. Not a big deal in the scheme of things, but misleading. Besides the reg issue and number of owners, there is a serious issue with the glass on the car and all windows will probably need to be replaced plus the mirrors. That is in the processed of being actioned at present.
  2. I found a the Autotrader advert; Grand Cherokee Registration xx18xxx First Registration Month 2018-03 Odometer Reading Miles 35,849 Seller Type TRADE Upgrades - Nappa Leather - Morocco Black, 12 months warranty, Full service history, Excellent bodywork, Black Full leather interior - Excellent Condition, Tyre condition Excellent, Standard Features - 20in Alloy Wheels - Polished Aluminium and Technical Grey, Auto Dimming Rear View Mirror, Auto High Beam Headlamp Control, Chrome Side Roof Rails, Commandview Dual Panel Panoramic Sunroof, Cruise Control, ESC - Electronic Stability Control, Front Fog Lights, Headlamps - Automatic, Headlights - Washers, Heated Steering Wheel, LED Tail Lamps, ParkSense Front and Rear Park Assist with Rear Stop, ParkView Rear Back Up Camera, Power Tailgate, Rear Load-Levelling Suspension, Steering Column - Power Tilt and Telescope, Supplemental Front Seat Side Air Bags, Supplemental Side Air Bags, Supplemental Side Curtain Front-Rear Air Bags, Suspension - Quadra Lift Air, Suspension - Sports, Thatcham Security Equipment, Trailer Sway Damping - Control, Tyre Pressure Monitoring Display, UConnect Voice Command with Bluetooth, UConnect 8.4in Radio with Bluetooth - DAB - Voice Command and SmartTouch Navigation System, Wood-Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel. 5 seats, Metallic BLACK, 1 owner, £28,995. I later did a check, foolishly after purchase, and there were 2 previous owners and I was the third. They then admitted I was the third owner. They do state n the advert that it is a 2018 registered model. Also I was given the impression that the car had a Jeep brand warranty and not a third party warranty. Only found this out when I tried to make a claim regarding the glass.
  3. Thanks. I was not aware that the VIN could identify the vehicle as a 2017 until today. Definitely sold to me as a 2018 model as it was advertise as such on Autotrader. I am not sure if Autotrader can send me a copy of the ad? I have now checked the Owner's manual and it states that the vehicle is a 2017 model.
  4. In Aug I purchased a second hand vehicle which was first registered on 1st March 2018 from a franchised dealership . Due to some issues with the vehicle's windows which the dealership is currently resolving, I happened to check the VIN number and got a decoding of the VIN number. It now transpires that the vehicle is actually a 2017 model registered in 2018. There are subtle differences between the 2017 and the 2018 especially cost. On taking the Jeep to another franchised dealership for the same brand, it was mentioned in passing that there was a difference in that model which set alarm bells ringing. This will affect the trade in price should I trade the vehicle in and the buyer checks the VIN number. I probably would not have gone ahead with the purchase as there were other 2017 models advertised with a similar mileage available at the time and at a lower price. The vehicle was advertised as a 2018 and I bought it on finance as a 2018 paying a deposit with a credit card. Should the franchised dealership have advised me that the vehicle was a 2017 model registered in 2018? surely the franchised dealership would have been aware of the year if they checked the VIN number? Although mechanically the vehicle is brilliant, runs well and is almost in showroom condition, I am now seriously considering rejecting the vehicle was more than likely all the windows and mirrors will need to be replaced plus the vehicle is actually a year older than it should be? What are my options? Thanks.
  5. Never thought of using Council Tax bill. She has only been in the country 3 weeks, but in home less than 10 days.
  6. As said I am querying on behalf of my daughter so I don't have access to her account or invoice as that is her personal issue. I should have been clearer and the actual question is whether a company can request proof of identity, address, employment etc before deciding to deliver? Does not matter which company it is so name can be removed. She has bought other stuff from other companies using the same method of payment as she is slowly furnishing their home so cannot understand why this company is giving her grief. Surely if there was an issue, it should have been mentioned before the delivery date last week which never happened? I suspect that they took the orders for the appliances and then realised that there is a 3 week wait before they can obtain the goods so are now playing it out and were hoping that she would not cancel. However she has emailed to cancel and is waiting for return of funds.
  7. That is what daughter told us. Not sure why I put the name in the heading instead of in body of post. My mistake. Perhaps remove name from heading altogether. Also need to modify paragraph on body of post as referring to the wrong company. Thanks.
  8. I thought it was Appliance Direct, but it is Appliances Direct and they are two different stores. Not sure how to edit the heading as the heading is now incorrect. We have used Appliances Direct in the past with no issue so cannot understand why they want copies of passport etc when they already have the money even it was paid for by a SA CC? I thought money laundering rules only applied to transfers of over £10000? Does the retailer have any right to ask for identification like copies of passport, proof of address etc? She does have a Nationwide current account with a debit card, but all the funds are in South Africa waiting to be transferred. The credit card she is using is similar to the pre Pay CC that we have here in the UK as is valid anywhere in the world. They transfer funds from SA account onto CC to buy goods however address for virtual or Online card is probably in SA.
  9. Daughter who is British and recently from South Africa ordered washing machine and dishwasher. Paid using a "virtual" credit card and the company has the funds. Goods were supposed to be delivered last week. On the day of delivery got a text to say not delivering for another two weeks. They are now requesting proof of identity, address, employment etc which she sent to them. Yesterday she got another email requesting the same information. In response she told them by email to cancel the order and requested a full refund. Neither of us can understand why they require proof of identity, proof of address etc. Reading reviews of the company on Trustpilot 86% of reviewers rate the company as Bad. It is a company called Appliance Direct. As it is a "virtual" South African CC I am not sure if S75 would apply. Sadly at the moment CRA 2015 cannot be used and I am unsure of Consumer Contract Regulations? Any advice?
  10. I get a renewal email notice and the cost to renew is £10.
  11. Without the mobility element of PIP I am unsure how OH can apply for a Blue Badge? Any suggestions?
  12. I did look at their website, but it gets confusing what to complete due to the benefits and pensions we receive which are state and occupational. The occupational ones are a lot less than £500 a year between us. I think we will need to sit down with a benefits advisor. Seems weird that once if you reach state pension age you cannot claim mobility even if you already claim PIP Daily Living Allowance. Not sure I understand the reasoning behind this? I suffer with RA which makes movement painful at times unless I dose on steroids and for obvious reasons I prefer to avoid this route. We now both help one another, but at the moment it is only OH who has been claiming carer's allowance. Not sure if we can both get it or some sort of credit towards it, but do not want to abuse the system. As the issue with OH is a rare form of vasculitis it may be months if ever before OH recovers, but in the meantime at appears she has more medication than food or drink.
  13. My wife has been claiming the enhanced Daily Living element of PIP. She also gets her State Pension. Unfortunately now she can barely walk 10m due to a medical issue and unlikely to be cured, apparently as she gets State Pension she apply for and cannot get the mobility element of PIP. As she already gets the enhanced Daily Living element of PIP she cannot also claim Attendance Allowance. She is or was my carer, but now I care for her as much as possible and she is now severely disabled however I am struggling a bit at times. I get the enhanced element of DLA and Mobility. We are not sure if she is entitled to any other benefits? Please advise. Thanks.
  14. I can get reports from National Caravan Council Approved Workshop Scheme technicians as many of them have come across these cracks in the ABS panels on caravans. ABS or Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene is a common thermoplastic polymer typically used for injection moulding applications. This engineering plastic is popular due to its low production cost and the ease with which the material is machined by plastic manufacturers. It does suffer from weather issues. The AWS technician is that after examining the caravan thoroughly for any other signs of impact damage they are of the opinion that the cracks are probably not due to stress related impacts from driving on British roads as a caravan should be designed to take into account state of roads etc as roads leading to some campsites may not be of motorway grade. However it is only an opinion and not expert evaluation. In other words taking into consideration the price paid for the caravan it is not durable therefore not fit for purpose. Also does not explain why caravans sited permanently on a pitch all year round also have issues with cracks. Manufacturer is stating it is impact damage and dealer and finance house are going along with this. The manufacturer has a 1 year warranty on body panels and 3 years if manufacturing defect however CRA 2015 over rides any warranty! I understand that the finance house are responsible for resolving the issue however on an initial polite letter they denied all liability stating that crack was not present at time of purchase. I have since sent another letter last Friday to the finance house using clauses 9, 10, 11 and 19 of the CRA 2016. I am still waiting a reply, but early days I guess. I feel it is a latent manufacturing defect that took just over 4 years to manifest itself taking into consideration that due to lockdown we were only able to sue the caravan for about 3 years. I guess what I really need is an expert on ABS moulding that can state the main reason why these ABS panels crack as the Internet is littered with links to people complaining about cracked ABS panels across all brands of caravans. Not even sure where to start looking as will need to take caravan to the expert for evaluation and pay for the report. I am not sure if this thread should be moved to another forum as my original question has been answered and it has now moved on although an insurance claim is still in place for the damage.
  15. Thanks. It would be nice to see the assessors report as there is a dispute regarding the damage with dealer stating impact damage and myself claiming that is a manufacturer's defect. It is a crack on the ABS body panel of a caravan. Internet is littered with people complaining about cracks of the ABS body panel of their caravan and this is across all brands of caravans. I have put in an insurance claim as dealer is quoting in excess of £9300 for replacement of the front panel however as a back up I am also doing a CRA 2015 against finance house as 2018 caravan cost in excess of £30k and is just over 4 years old taking into account that due to Covid lockdown we were unable to use the caravan for about a year.
  16. If I am making a claim for damage on a caravan can I request a copy of the assessors report? Thanks.
  17. You can only deal with BGAS by writing to them or the chat system. I joined the chat system at 67 in queue, but did not take long to be connected to a representative. It seems that it was an oversight due to the transfer and they have now applied it and should reflect on my account within the next 7 - 10 days. I dislike BGAS with an intensity from previous experiences, but I am really impressed by the way they handled my complaint. Unfortunately not much point entering into fixed contracts or even changing suppliers at this point if you are lucky enough to find a supplier that will take you on.
  18. Our previous supplier Bristol Energy went into administration and was taken over by BGAS on 4th Feb. Neither one of them have applied the Warm Home discount. Bristol Energy are not answering emails etc. According to the last statement supplied by them on 10th March 2022 the discount had not been applied. According to them I was £71.72 in debit to them which I have since paid. I am not sure where to go now to resolve this issue as £150 is a lot of money to us.
  19. Many thanks for the helpful advice as it has been a bit of a worry since they told us they were emigrating over here.
  20. We are retired and receive Housing and Council tax benefit. We have close family i.e. daughter & family emigrating from South Africa to the UK and initially they will stay with us until they can find employment and rent a place. At this point they are unsure if they will have employment when landing on our shores as both are skilled workers. They also have a young son of 14. They will probably be with us for about 6 weeks and we are unsure how it will affect our benefits as they will have money when they emigrate and will probably buy their own food and contribute towards electric and water costs. The other thing is that last year we paid a deposit for a short holiday in the UK as at the time we were not aware that they would be coming to live in the UK. If we go ahead with the holiday, we would be away for about two weeks so again unsure about the benefit thing. We do not want to lose the benefits and then have to go through the stress of re-applying for the sake of about 6 weeks. Any advice would be appreciated. thanks.
  21. He doesn't have CCTV overlooking our garden and we have a 6 foot fence between his property and ours however if he stands in his kitchen door way he can overlook part of our property. I think the best suggestion is to start to keeping a proper diary of these incidents. Unfortunately neither of us carry our phones with us when at home, but may need to consider doing this in future.
  22. Thanks I was inside the garage when I assume he took photographs or pretended to take photos. We also suspect that he has taken photos of us moving around inside our garden, but proving it may be impossible. Obviously the benefits agency cannot react to any photos even if it showed me doing somersaults in our back garden however they could decide to pay us visits etc. LOL! That doesn't really bother me how many times they visit as there is no cure for RA, but annoying if he keeps reporting me for silly things. It is the constant harassment and feeling of being spied on that is getting to me. Also someone is throwing old meat into our garden hoping our dogs will eat the meat. Taking into account where it lands, we suspect it is being thrown over by him during the night, but again proving it is another matter. He has a thing about our dogs.
  23. I received DLA both elements as I have mobility issues due to RA. To help me get around I use elbow crutches as my right knee gives way unexpectedly. Only recently within the past 30 days I had to have a steroid pain killer injection into the knee and have another appointment next week with the doctor. Our neighbour is always trying to catch me out so that he can report me to the Benefits agency. I have had DLA since about 2011. In 2018 I had to undergo an examination for PIP and had to supply proof of my issues. Today I had walked across with my carer to our garage which is less than 20m from our back garden. The garage is full of stuff, I leant the elbow crutches against a wall in the garage as I could support myself on the stuff inside the garage. Lo and behold our neighbour appears and starts taking picture of me not using my elbow crutches obviously with the intent to send them onto the benefits agency. He has done this previously and in 2018 I was called into the benefits agency to explain my income and outgoings. This issue was not regarding my DLA, but our income. Apparently I had not updated them with an increase of £0.21p in my pension as this affects my Pension Credit income. Again I had all the necessary documentation and got a letter later from them apologising as I had supplied all the necessary information previously and they had been notified several months previously. Although it could be coincidence I suspect that he reported us for some reason. Later in the same year I was asked to go into the benefits office for the PIP examination although i was receiving DLA. At the time I could hardly walk and despite a doctor's note plus proof of treatment it was insisted I go into the office in the town. I went there and on the way to the office in the building I fell over as had a lot of difficulty walking. It was then arranged that someone would visit me at home and they did all the checks and approve the PIP. However every time I go out and about whether just in our garden or to walk to my vehicle, I feel as if I am being spied on by the neighbour and on a number of occasions we have seen him taking pictures or pretending to take pictures. It has not bothered me up to now, but today with him taking pictures again of me by our garage really annoyed me. My wife has had endless hassles with him and this has been reported to the housing association, but they can do nothing as it is difficult to get proof of the harassment he is causing my wife. Is there anything we can do to stop this harassment and for him to stop taking pictures of us whether in our garden or walking in the village. The latter applies mainly to my wife as my walking is mainly limited to walking to the vehicle parked outside the home. Surely it is an infringement of the Data Protection Act taking pictures of us without our permission, but how do we prove it? I am reaching the end of my tether with this person as it is causing a lot of stress and I have enough stress already in my life!
  24. I wrote to the CEO at Maidenhead on 9th Sept and have had no reply, but I have had no more threatening letters etc. Not sure if it has now been put to bed to will come back to haunt me at some point in the future?
