  1. Hi meg&mog, firstly i would keep to a recordable media such as email or letter, unless you already have phone recording equiptment! 1: What services do you have? Such as tv basic, phone L, BB L & so on 2: What day of the month do your sevices start & end? For me its 16th - 15th yet bills are produced 19 - 27 of the previous month. 3: Where did you send your letter to? 4: When was it received? If sent via RM track & trace service. 5: VM stated that you offered VM £50 per month, have you paid any of this yet? 6: If possible can post a copy of the contents your letters and emails to this forum or via PM? Please remove all personal data such as your name, address, Tel no, email address, account numbers, signatures & so on!
  2. NTL Telewest 01 Apr 02 £2 Non Direct Debit fee introduced. 01 Jun 05 £3 01 Jun 06 £4 01 Feb 07 £5 also NTL Telewest rebranded to Virgin Media. Virgin Media Billing - The Consumer Forums
  3. Hi skywreck, firstly sorry just multipling by 3 is just a rough estimate, in fact most of the time i cannot count on the spot with more than 4 digits. Direct links to all Measurement conversions Types of gas meters and how to read them gas converted to kWh kilowatt-hours>
  4. Hi skywreck, quite simple they have muliplyed by 3 instead of deviding by 3. 700 / 3 = 233.3333. 233.3333 / 3 = 77.7777 Write back & tell them about their error!
  5. Hi meg&mog, firstly NTL Telewest were not taken over, they just re branded to Virgin Media! Can i ask for the direct debit penalty charges be removed? Yes, it only costs them a maximum of 15p to receive a payment into their bank account. My questions are What should i do now? You should request that your contract with VM be terminated, however the account will remain open until the arrears are cleared off, but it wont cost you ongoing monthly fees. You should write with your offer again with a copy of the 1st letter you sent, but send to the corporate CEO of Virgin Media, add your account number to speed things up. neil.berkett@virginmedia. co.uk Remember to remove the space.
  6. Virgin Media Billing - The Consumer Forums My TW / VM billing history. BACS Consumer / business Direct Debit FAQs The true facts about D.D. Barclays Business Banking : Our Charges RBS | Business Current Account Note the Free automated tariff (basically an internet based account). As for the mail that is late i have done quite a bit of research already and know possibly what is happening, but i am not yet ready to break the story as i still need to confirm a few basic facts. AnimalMagic, remember that you have 7 Bank Days starting from the day after you receive your bill if paying by other means and 10 BD for D.D, also have a look at BT's T&C's about defining the date you must pay by, RBS it means "payment will be backdated to the day you paid it", HBOS it means "payment must be paid at least 3 BD before the due date"! Mark_Blackpool, spare a thought for us poor VM users at £5 per month regardless and when we get a red invoice it automatically adds a £10 late fee, at least for me the late fee is unenforceable as i pay 1 month in advance at their standard terms.
  7. Hi seanamarts, the onus or liability is not on the consumer to notice that D.D payments have ceased, but it is the company's liability to inform the customer that D.D payments have ceased and to arrange an alternative means of payment. With VM their way of informing you is just sending you a bill with thier Transcash cheque attached, also note you will be charged their Non D.D fees at £5 per month regardless. Did you get any of these bills & Red inked reminders which carry an automatic £10 late fee? All banks hold details of Direct Debit Instructions on file for a minimum period of 13 months from lodgement of the Direct Debit Instruction, in the event of no collections, or from the date of the last payment. I would first contact your bank for your Direct Debit mandate for VM, they may still have it, if it has not been canceled, then contact Mr Berkett, Virgin Media Corporate CEO neil.berkett@virginmedia. co.uk (note the space between the "." and the "co") with a brief outline of your story, include your account number so it can be dealt with quicker! Also ensure that all non Direct Debit fees, late fees are refunded and your CRA record is zeroed during this time of default that is reported 1 month in arrears! Finally i would not be surprised if VM take the whole outstanding amount including your next months payment in one go! For further info on Direct Debit: BACS Direct Debit FAQs
  8. 1: When a customer takes a Transcash payment slip to either a bank or Post Office, does the bank or PO convert this payment into an automated BACS payment or credit to the target company. Post Office Counters Ltd. has confirmed that a Transcash payment converts into an automated BACS payment to the target company! 3: What is the fee charged to the customer for: A: Customer pays 100% fee at PO? The PO charge a flat fee of £2.35 and there is no 50% fee. Also the same £2.35 fee is payable on A&L Girobank cheques (not DWP benefit payments) and other bank giro credit cheques for bill payments.
  9. Hi jan2002, firstly i am sorry to hear that this issue has not yet been resolved, as to their online billing system, it is not much better according to a few sources as some months you may not receive emails, this could be due to VM not sending or thier own anti-spam filter being too zealous or other ISPs blocking VM's domains as spam. I too have a similar problem with HBOS & VM, at least i get mail eventually, HBOS cards seem to be a problem, a CC replacement took over 10 months to arrive only 2 days after its replacement & a DC took over 3 months 3 days before its replacement arrived. As for VM see here. Virgin Media Billing - The Consumer Forums

  12. Hi Raymond, no it is TW cable just like yourself, i have been paying £25pm not including their non-D.D fee since 16 Nov 04, for their 4mb BroadBand L only, however i noticed on the 16 Mar, that the price is now £16pm! So when did VM reduce it? Note to any Moderator: Please move this thread to the "Broadband and other internet issues", thank you!
  13. Anyone know when Virgin Media reduced the BB L (4mb) package down to £16 per month, it was previously £25 per month!?
  14. Barclays, even better, did you know that it costs BT & Virgin Media 15p (at standard corporate fees) to receive each and every automated transaction including Direct Debits, Transcash, BACS, CHAPS! However those standard corporate fees could be negotiated right down to zero with the turnover that either BT or Virgin Media have. Go to Barclays main site, click commercial +20m: click Trade & cash solutions, scroll to bottom of page, second last item on left hand side is Our Charges click on that, then download the Barclays Business tariff.pdf. This is only part of the research that has been ongoing for the last year or so.
  15. Hi Raymond, so thats Hong kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC)!?
  16. Hi Bearmaggie, what items did you have prior your change and what items do you have now, was it a simple up or downgrade or did you take on services you did not have before?
  17. No first you will need a BT line installed as it is usually ADSL type service being offered by O2, which is not compatible with Virgin Media's cable phone lines!
  18. 1: When a customer takes a Transcash payment slip to either a bank or Post Office, does the bank or PO convert this payment into an automated BACS payment or credit to the target company. HBOS has confirmed that a Transcash payment converts into an automated BACS payment to the target company! 3: The customer has an account with that bank. C-E, HBOS confirms that all Transcash payments are free of charge with a consumer basic or current account. 3: The customer has a no account with that bank. F-H, HBOS refuses to accept Transcash payments if you have no account with them!

  20. When a Direct Debit Originator has paid their collection fees to collect money from their customers, does your bank charge an additional fee per D.D to receive the money in their business / corporate current account at your banks standard business rates? Update: Bank Of Scotland (HBOS) have confimed 25p per D.D their standard fee for automated transactions, the D.D.O collection fee is only to collect from their customers and not to receive if successful! However this 25p fee can be reduced to zero by negotiation for a branch based account or via an internet based account.
