  2. OK, I'm secretary for a Sports Team and after recently returned from holiday have found that we have incurred £105 in charges, total charges over 4 years being £175. Basically the person looking after the accounts whilst I was away didn't. Anyway I sent the first letter on 25th Nov requesting £175 of charges to be repaid. (I should say now that another signaturies mum works at said bank and managed to get £35 reclaimed on 28th Nov) I received a letter today saying that since that had recently recredit the account with £35 that we should stop and it's our own fault blah blah. Seems like the standard replay everyones getting really. "If we do not recieve a responce within 8 weeks, your complaint will be considered as closed" and "If you reseed to court, we will counterclaim" Now I've recently successfully reclaimed from HSBC so know the procedure, but wondering how difficult YB are being in refunding charges. The rest of the signatories didn't want me to pursue a claim but I have, is it worth going all the way?
  3. I'm Treasurer for a sports team and over 4 years, they've incurred £210 in charges at £35 a time. This is partly me not doing my job properly and partly, the manager and coach writing cheques and not collecting all the subs in. Anyway, we are looking at changing banks (to one nearer our home) and trying to reclaim charges. They currently bank with Yorkshire Bank. I know the process as I've successfully claimed the full amount personally from HSBC recently. Many thanks for your replies
  4. I have just had all my statements through from HSBC, I closed the account last august after being charged £100 in one month because they messed up my deposits. Good luck in your quest!
  5. Thank you, I've read all the sticky's previously but only thought about my old bank account! Never thought about my credit cards, or my partners for that matter - I've just taken on his debt because he kept forgetting to pay ontime and was paying a day late and so getting late payment fee's and also he had no idea about card tarting!
  6. yeah, I've got 8 months to pay £4k off a credit card so it would come in handy! Can you claim against credit cards too? even if they've since been closed?
  7. I got 167 pages of bank statements through yesturday, adding up all the charges, in 6 years I got a total of £223 of charges, £100 in one go - which prompted me to leave HSBC. Is it worth trying to claim back £223 ?
  8. I closed my account with HSBC last August after a huge ammount of unnecessary charges, HSBC was less than accomodating when I went in to challenge the charges and this resulted in me taking my business elsewhere. Now I'm looking at making a claim against them and have found on a old direct debit form, my account number and sort code. Should this be enough to get a list of charges/copy of statements? thanks in advance leni

    Can I claim?

I had banked with HSBC for almost 10 years, had a loan and credit card with them and paid them both off without a hitch! Then last Jan I got £100 of charges for going over my £50 overdraft! This was due to christmas and the cheque I deposited did not clear before the debits were taken out (I remember they showed on the statement as the same day but debits come out before credits) I booked a meeting and went in to complain and was well and truely fobbed off with excuses and they wouldn't budge! Since then I have changed banks and closed my HSBC account down and destroyed all statements! Is their anyway I can claim?
