  1. Hi, I was moving house on Feb 7th so I used the BT website to start the home move on Jan 15th. I received messages saying the order was complete & I moved in on Feb 7th to find the phone was working but no broadband. I complained & they said there had been an error & they would have to make a new order for me & it would be 7 days. On day 7 they messaged me to say it was all working. It was not. I called again to be told there was a fault on the line & I would have to wait 7 days for an engineer. Then the phone stopped working. They cancelled the engineer as the phone had a fault. After 22 days of this nonsense an engineer finally came round & said it was all fixed & told me what the problem was. Apparently the previous tenant had not been paying the bills & BT had placed a block on the line. He said they could have fixed it the first day I called as it was on the computer system & there was no need for me to be unconnected for so long. As I am disabled & rely on the internet for my son & I to get food, gas, etc this was a nightmare month for us. BT assured me I would be compensated. When I got the next bill they had only knocked £11 off the bill. How can I go about asking for compensation as the mobile calls made were more than £11 & I don't see why I should be out of pocket because of their mistakes. They had over a month from the point I initiated my home move & they messed it up all the way through. And to make things worse it has started playing up again this week. I have now been 4 days without being able to open Gmail due to connectivity issues. But I am still paying then £45 pm. I'm really not happy with their service. Thanks
  2. I had a car insurance policy with Swinton from jan 29 2011 - jan 29 2012 On jan 05 2012 at 3pm I called their Aberystwyth branch & spoke to Bryn (I have a BT record of the call) I told them I did not want to renew my policy with them, at this time I was told they had actually taken an extra £60 payment & that this would be reimbursed if I did not renew as I had already paid in full - cheeky buggers On jan 30 2012 I called to ask why I had not been reimbursed the money only to be told they had in fact auto renewed my policy without my permission & would be keeping the £60 I then explained that I had already called & cancelled & they said they had no record of the conversation I told them I wanted to cancel the policy as I had informed them I did not want to renew & then they charged me £38 cancellation fee Now Bryn is saying I cannot get my £60 back or the £38 charge, so in effect they have taken £98 off me for less than 24 hours of insurance What can I do to sort this out As I was already paid up how can they keep my £60 & as I was 1 day into the cooling off period how can they charge me £38 for cancelling I am a disabled single mum & cannot afford to keep my car on the road at all now
  3. Is there nothing I can do? I've been on benefits for more than a year & clearly have no other income. Will it continue as Cont based indefinitely or will it change at some point? I just don't understand how it makes me ineligible for any other help when I am still on the same pitiful rate as income based! I've worked continuously since leaving uni in 2000 & now I need help I'm not getting any! Does CB change to IB after a certain amount of time? Or is it forever?
  4. Hi, When I rented my current house, through an agent, I was listed as the sole tenant on the lease, I paid the money & I have the receipt. But the letting agent registered the bond in my ex boyfriend's name at this address (even though he NEVER lived here), so all correspondence about it arrives here but not for me. I tried explaining the error to the TDS but they will not discuss it with me as I'm not the LEAD tenant!! I am the ONLY tenant!! I have spent 2 years arguing with the agent over this issue but they have done nothing to rectify their mistake. I am hoping to leave in the next few months & am concerned about getting the bond back if it's in my ex's name, and as we are not on good terms I don't think I can rely on him to repay me! I have been calling, emailing & visiting them for 2 years now & they have done nothing. What are my legal options now as I need to ensure I get this money back to use on my next property. How they think they can behave like this, when I paid their fees, is just beyond me! Thanks!
  5. Hi, In 2007-2008 my partner worked self employed & we claimed WTC & CTC. Late 2008-2010 I worked full time & we claimed WTC & CTC. From March 2010-present I have been in receipt of contribution based ESA & have been claiming CTC. Last week I got a letter saying they had overpaid me £4800 since 2008 & I have to pay it all back, including my CTC. But We did not make a fraudulent claim & I can prove that. My partner has long since gone & left me to deal with it all. Can they really claim back that far considering they did not notify me of overpayment in those years? WHy are they only chasing me & not my ex, who is in full time employment now & not paying child maintenance? My total income from all benefits from april 2010-april 2011 was £4400!! That's for me & my son & they say I've been overpaid! I just can't understand it :/
  6. Hi guys, I was put on ESA after leaving work in March 2010. Because I had a partner at the time who was working I was put onto contribution based ESA. We have long since split up & I informed them of this immediately. When he left he took half the furniture, including the fridge & the washing machine, & left me with about £3000 of debt to pay off in bills, etc. I have tried to get a budgeting loan or a community care grant but have been told I am not eligible as I'm not on a means tested benefit. They said I cannot change onto income based, despite having been on ESA for more than a year. I have a 5 year old son & I need to get a replacement fridge & washer, but have no other source of income to turn to. Are there any other sources of funding I could try or can I get my benefit switched onto means tested? It seems ridiculous that because I worked long enough to qualify for contribution based I am now penalised by not being eligible for other funding. Thanks for any help you can offer me!
  7. Hi, I've had SLE, Sjogren's & Xerostomia since 1986. AS a child I had gum disease due to it & have suffered with dry mouth & tooth decay ever since. My teeth literally crumble in my mouth whilst I eat. My dentist just extracts my teeth rather than trying to repair them. I have only got 16 teeth left now & it is becoming hard & painful to eat. More of my teeth are crumbling & I'm worried for the future. I am 32. I have read that you can get implants & cosmetic dentistry on the NHS if you have congenital defects that affect oral health. My diseases & my medication are known for causing oral health problems, and I am in receipt of disability benefits. Would this qualify me for NHS restorative treatment or implants? I have tried asking my dentist but she doesn't seem to care. Would a dental school be able to help me at all?
  8. Hi, I've got a council tax debt of £600 from a previous house. I'm currently on ESA (with DLA applied for) as I have Lupus, Arthritis & Retinal Vasculitis. Excel enforcement have made me sign a payment scheme for £70 a month or they will take my car, which is essential with my arthritis. I cannot possibly afford £70 a month but they are refusing to reduce the payments. They have also added £100 charges on for administering a payment scheme. Is this right? Is there any way I can reduce these payments as I am a single mum & cannot keep them up? Thanks
  9. I am going through a Maternity dispute with HMRC. My previous employer kept my SMP & even though I won an employment Tribunal against his limited company they are refusing to pay me. The HMRC say that as the tribunal took so long complete I have now missed the 6 month deadline in claiming the money direct from them & are also refusing to pay. However I know I reported it to them within the first month of non payment & they have confirmed they have my complaint on their old computer system. If I can get a copy of that I have a valid claim. So, does anybody know which letter I should send them to request ALL copies of contact & notes they have regarding me over the relevant years? Thanks.
  10. I have Lupus, also triggered by stress & am now a mum on long term incapacity & DLA. I have been having problems with Student Loans for years due to their incompetence. I hope you get some advice. BUMP!
  11. I am in a similar situation. I have a 1997 loan & have never earned the threshold but due to SLC apparently 'not receiving' my deferment forms once they have been imposing charges on me for about 6 years now despite the fact I am on long term incapacity benefit & DLA due to a chronic illness & mobility problems. First I got letters from Smith Lawson & Co, then capquest, then llowel & now Buchanan Clark. I ignore them all. I have done nothing wrong & can prove I do not owe them any money so I am willing to go to court over it. But they never take it any further than a letter. I've been ignoring their letters since 2005 & I have never had any trouble or any visits. Soon I will use the statute barred argument & then they can jump of a cliff. They have also breached the contract by making me provide all my partners work details stamped by his boss, they called my parents and disclosed confidential details, they even phoned my dad's work & discussed my loan debts with people at his office. Then to top it all off they accessed my new bank account without permission or a court order & took £400 out of my incapacity & child benefit leaving me massively overdrawn at my bank who then imposed another £300 of charges on me. They are corrupt & use bullying & dubious tactics to get what they want. Good luck.
  12. Hi, I'm on long term ESA due to Lupus & mobility problems.I have a 4 year old son. This week a council tax bailiff came & took £100 towards my debt. As I only get £91 a week to support my son & I this has left me with no money for this week. I have been trying to call the Crisis Loan number since 9 this morning but there is a message saying they are unable to answer the call & it disconnects. I have tried ringing the budgeting loan number, the jobcentre plus number, the benefits enquiry line number, my CAB & every other number I can find. I have been told that I cannot get a crisis loan unless I ring them, but there is still no answer. I am getting very worried now as it's the weekend & I literally have no money to feed my son or to buy a calor gas bottle for our fire. There seems to be nobody that can help. Does anybody know what I can do to get in touch with somebody who could help in some way. I'm starting to panic now.
  13. It was the last payment of the year, so it would have been the september - October 2010 payment Thanks, I thought this may have ben the case but wanted reassurance before I confronted them about it.
