Hi to everyone, what a fantastically informative and impowering forum this is ! I have just sent by recorded delivery a "subject access request" under the DPA and so am just at the the start of what would seem an already well trodden path. I dont forsee that the unlawfal charges that have been levied on my account in the previous 6 years will amount to a life changing sum (maybe charges incurred 10 years ago when I was younger and constantly over-overdrawn and penalised would) but in reclaiming atleast 6 years worth of MY money I will feel somewhat happier !!!....and it is MY money. I have read the FAQs and many posts - congrats everyone. There are a couple of questions I would like to ask : Has anyone ever wondered why HSBC ever lets it get to the point where they are issued with a court summons ? They dont want to go to court and only end up having to cough up for an extra 8% interest on the original claim amount (s.69 county courts act interest statement) plus the claimants issueing fee ? Answers please : The only reason I can think of and perhaps most obvious one is that they are saving money this way! The total saved by scaring people off this way must be less than the amount payed in court fees etc....... ? Has anyone ever refussed settlement and Confidentiality ? I can find no threads were anyone has not sighned or threads discussing that they did not accept the clause....which implies no-one has refussed. What are the motivations for the bank to ask for this ? Are there any implications for the claimant other than that you cant take your succsess story to the press? Answers please : ? Will keep you all poasted on my progress.....am expecting return of my data in maybe 39 days ....ish Natfrey
