  6. Hi - take a bit of time to read up first to make sure that you have the facts before going too far ahead. Read the FAQs and template letters then have a good read around here to see how others are getting on.

Keep any progress on your own claim or questions that arise in a new thread in the forum for your bank to make it easier for others to follow and advise you. There's a set of links in my sig below that will help you find where all this useful information is. Well done for getting started! :)

I would restart the claim for the FULL amount of the charges - £12 doesn't come into it. By charging over the odds the FULL amount is unlawful. You really ought to claim back interest on those charges too. Whilst you can accept their offer, it's a small portion of what they really owe you. Read the FAQs and the RBS forum and see how others have done - they've got the money back in full.

You can claim back interest charged on charges - there's a set of spreadsheets for this.

Charges up to 6 years old are reclaimable without problem (5 years in Scotland).

Have a look at the links below for template letters, but first of all please read the FAQs.

As far as the OFT and £12 is concerned - firstly, the statement was only in connection with Credit Card accounts - and secondly, it was a guideline and not an acceptable limit. By making an unlawful charge the whole amount is in dispute, not just a portion of it.

Inform the bank that the account is in dispute due to charges to stop them taking further action.
