  1. Thanks fuzzybobble, I'll ring them tomorrow. canbrilla:D
  2. Do any of you lovely CAG'ers have an address for Halifax Visa to which I can send a CCA request? I've already sent to Trinity Road, HX1 2UJ and PO Box 607, HX1 2RG but the CCA's have not been delivered. Any help gratefully received. canbrilla
  3. Thanks to you both for your reply. I actually sent one request to a PO Box No 607, HX1 2UJ, silly me! The other was sent to Trinity Road, Halifax HX1 2RG. I'll do as you suggest creditcardmug and start a new thread. I'll also get that letter off stikky. Thanks again. canbrilla
  4. I CCA'd Halifax Registered post, enclosing £1 PO on 24 July and to date the letter hasn't been delivered, it's not on the Royal Mail website anyway. I only did this because I spoke to one of their 'operatives' on the phone and he started to get a bit too bossy for my liking. Today I've received a letter from Blair, Oliver and Scott 'requesting' payment. What's my next step? Is there a letter to send to BOS informing them of the fact that I've CCA'd Halifax? The debt hasn't been assigned to BOS, are they Halifax's solicitors? They want me to phone them to discuss payment options - don't think so! They also say they can instruct one of their local door-to-door agents to call - don't think so! I want to carry on making payments but certainly can't afford any more than I've been paying. I don't want to speak to them obviously so a nudge in the right direction of a letter to send to them would be appreciated. canbrilla
  5. robinalexander said that if I continued to pay Cahoot they would pass on payments to Robinson Way. Wrong! Payment went to Cahoot as normal and they credited it back to my account, so no-one's been paid, Cahoot could have forwarded the payment on but chose not to. Now waiting for response from Robinson Way, they've got until 5 August to provide CCA. I've had no Notice of Assignment, so until Robinson Way come up with something which shows they are entitled to collect on this debt, they aren't getting a penny! canbrilla
  6. That's true sutherland, I hadn't thought of it in that way.
  7. I am still paying them creditcardmug, and will continue to do so, but judging from the letters I've received lately and the telephone call I had today, I think they're going to sell it on pretty soon. As it's my right to request a CCA at any time, I thought I would and hope this stops the OC selling it on until such time as they do provide me with a CCA. canbrilla
  8. In requesting a CCA I'm not trying to avoid paying a debt, but I need to be sure that the DCA which says it's their right to collect on the debt does, in fact, have the necessary paperwork and are legally entitled to collect. It's my right to do this and I will continue to request CCAs where necessary. I'm willing to pay and have been doing so for a while, albeit reduced payments. I don't condone debt avoidance! canbrilla
  9. Hi I didn't put that at the top of the letter in the end. Hope it doesn't come back to bite me on the nether regions. Anyway I sent 2 CCAs off on 16 June, 1 to Halifax Visa and the other to Robinson Way. The latter's been signed for, but I don't know about the Halifax one yet. The Halifax address was a PO Box number. I'm sure I read on here somewhere that shouldn't make any difference, it should still be signed for. I'll contact Royal Mail and find out if it's been signed for or not. What do I do if it hasn't been? canbrilla
  10. Hi Kenny We had someone out to assess what we needed the other day. Our loft is fully insulated, the outside walls are poured concrete and the radiators are fine, so all we really wanted was a new boiler which the assessor agreed with. Just waiting for the installation firm to contact us. Fingers crossed we'll get the work done before the winter sets in. We've managed to get our old boiler to work, in a fashion, we're getting hot water, but the thermostat is broken, so we can only put the heating on for an hour or so before the radiators start banging because the water gets too hot. Anyway, it's better than the nothing we were getting before! canbrilla
  11. That's what my letter attached to the payment slip said sutherland. I certainly made no offer of payment to them. I'll continue to pay Cahoot, at least this month and see if I do get a CCA. My payment is due by 15th, it'll go out to Cahoot as normal. canbrilla
  12. Hi wobbles, glad to hear that your boiler was working when the assessor came out, mine still isn't at the moment. The pilot light goes out when you either turn on the hot water or put the central heating on! My nephew's contacting Glow Worm to see if they can diagnose the problem but that could be a while. In the meantime it's cold and we have to boil the kettle to wash up, have a wash down and wash our clothes in cold water as my washing machine doesn't heat the water. We've had a letter from Warm Front today acknowledging our application, just waiting for the assessor to get in touch. Anyway, hopefully we'll get it up and running again at some point. Can't be soon enough! canbrilla
  13. Received 2 letters today, both in envelopes which looked the same and with the same return address, Quays Reach, on the back of the envelope. In one was a letter purporting to be from Cahoot which said they'd sold my account to Robinson Way and to make payments to them and to cancel any standing orders to Cahoot. In the other was a payment slip from Robinson Way. Suspicious I thought. The letterhead on the Cahoot letter didn't look like the usual one. Now my dilemma is this, I want to pay this account, but don't want to pay Robinson Way. I'm sending them a CCA. Do I continue to make payments to Cahoot until such time as a CCA doesn't materialise or stop making payments to either? My next payment is to be made by 15 July. Any advice would be much appreciated. canbrilla
  14. Hi lindsay, My son has adhd but not autism. He is now 36 years old and was only diagnosed with adhd about 3 years ago. All his life he had been labelled 'bad'. He got into trouble all the time. He was very bright and did reasonably well at school and could have done a lot better if he hadn't been excluded all the time. He read somewhere about adhd and some of the symptoms were identical to his, so insisted his doctor referred him to one of the hospitals which treat adult adhd. We had to go to Maudsley Hospital in London for the diagnosis as there's only that hospital and one other in Cambridge, I think, that deal with adult adhd. The medication he was put on made him feel suicidal so he came off it and is not taking medication at all. However, just knowing that there's something medically wrong with him has made him feel much better, he knew that he wasn't just 'bad' and that it was an imbalance in his brain. Even though he'll never be cured at least he can now deal with it. People just don't understand the condition and what's worse is that they don't really want to!! Best of luck to you and your son, I hope everything works out okay for you. canbrilla
  15. Hi sutherland, yes you could be right, they must have been having a clear out.
  16. Hi there all, I would rather pay my debts than not and would have gone on paying the reduced amount I have been paying. However, as there's been no Notice of Assignment I need to know if Robinson Way do actually have the right to collect on this debt. Cahoot didn't state that they were reassigning the debt let alone who to, so I think I do need to send them a request for a CCA. If they come up with a true agreement, then fine, if they don't then I'll wait and see what happens. canbrilla
  17. wobbles Was your boiler working when someone came to assess your needs? Ours is about 12 years old and keeps breaking down. Luckily my nephew is a Corgi registered plumber so does repair it for us, but we can't keep patching it up forever. I didn't know about Warm Front and was all set to try and try to save up for a new boiler, which would have taken years, when I found out about it, thank goodness I did. I don't know if we need new radiators or not, will have to see how much the work would come to. Anyway, if it does come to more than the grant, I'll try the council. Thanks for that advice wobbles. canbrilla
  18. Hi all I had a letter and Default Notice from Cahoot. Part of the letter says: 'If you are in a position to clear the account balance in full within the next 14 days, please call us on the above number. If you are not, please continue with your existing arrangements'. I couldn't clear the balance obviously, so continued with reduced payments. 'We are currently reviewing our procedures in relation to customers who have enlisted the assistance of debt management companies and will be in contact with you shortly in this respect.' I'm not paying through a debt management company, I'm doing it myself and have not missed a payment since arranging to make reduced payments. I did contact CCCS, but didn't arrange anything with them. Today I've received a letter from Robinson Way to say that the balance of the Cahoot account was sold to them on 23 June 2008. I haven't had a Notice of Assignment so I will send them a CCA and see what happens. They said they will accept the reduced payments. canbrilla
  19. Hi wobbles I didn't know you could get any extra money from the Council. Is this a usual thing? I phoned Warm Front today and they said that the claim would be in my husband's name, as it's he who's disabled, so there should be no problem. Did you already have central heating in when you claimed and if so, was it not working? Ours isn't at the moment, but we'll have to have it fixed, even if it's only temporarily, we can't go 6 months with no heating and hot water. The lady I spoke to said that should be okay as it's bound to breakdown again. Hope everything goes well and we get the grant. Glad to hear you're satisfied with yours. canbrilla
  20. I'm going to apply in the next few days and hopefully will get some heating on before the winter. canbrilla
  21. Thanks Bookworm that puts my mind at rest. I did also read that after someone has assessed your needs, it could take from 6-8 months before any work is done! That's not very good if you're waiting during the winter with no heating. Surely it must be quicker than that!
  22. Hi, this may not be the right place for this, but don't know where else to post it. Anyway, it's a question about the Warm Front Heating Grant. I work full time but my husband claims Disability Living Allowance so my question is 'does anyone know if we would qualify for this grant?' I've just read a thread on another forum, which was people complaining about substandard work being done on their heating, and a lady on there said that she worked and her husband was on disability benefits and they qualified. On warm front websites it states that when it says 'householder' it means both the disabled person and their partner. Does this mean that the partner needs to claim disability benefits or am I reading this wrong? I was going to 'phone the number I have for info on Warm Front tomorrow and ask, but just wondered if anyone could provide an answer for me. Our boiler is on the blink, no heating or hot water, and we can't afford to have the boiler replaced, all my wage goes to paying bills. Can anyone help? Thanks. canbrilla
  23. Hello again, This may seem a bit of a silly question, but... If you send a CCA to a credit card company, after having had a default notice served and before it actually goes to a DCA, do you need to put 'I DO NOT ACKNOWLEDGE ANY DEBT TO YOUR COMPANY' on the letter, as it's obvious you do as you've been dealing with them so seems a bit superfluous? What has anyone else done in these circumstances? Thanks. canbrilla
  24. Hi all, I have a TalkTalk account for my telephone, was going to go with them for Broadband but they kept changing the set up date, so cancelled. Anyway, my account had International Anytime calls on so that I could phone abroad. I now have no need of this so phoned to cancel. To my amazement I was told that I couldn't downgrade but could change to Global, which included International calls. I said that I didn't want to phone abroad but the lady on the other end only repeated 'I'm sorry but you can't downgrade'. Told her not to bother, I'd leave things as they are, but I think I'll go back to BT. It could be I suppose that, if I'd bothered to read the T&Cs properly, I would have already have known about their non-downgrade policy, in which case it's somewhat my own fault. Nevertheless, I don't see what the problem is with wanting to downgrade, it's costing me £9.99 a month for something I don't want to use. Has anyone else fallen foul of TalkTalk's policies? canbrilla
  25. Do I now send a CCA or wait to see what happens next?
