  1. Thanks, I thought that may be the case. I'll just have to hope for a sympathetic ear. £69 x 2 makes for a very expensive visit.
  2. Hi all, I travelled down to Bristol from the north west to visit a relative. Since my last visit a year ago, it would appear that they now have a clean air zone. None of the following is intended to excuse, it's just for info. As I said, I wasn't aware of the zone and the road layout in the City has been changed somewhat. My satnav thought I was of road, so I had to navigate my way through the city centre. Now even though I was unaware of the C.A.Z, as I only pay £30 per annum excise duty, I actually thought my car would have been compliant. Maybe naive, but i am in my mid 70's, and have never had the pleasure of a C.A.Z I have received 2 PCN's. The 1st one I received when I returned from a holiday, I have appealed. Date of contravention 01/09/23, date of appeal, 27/09/23, I explained as above, I am yet to hear anything back. I have now received a second PCN, this was for the day I left Bristol the following weekend, I will of course appeal this on the same grounds. The reason for me coming on here is to check if it was served correctly. The contravention was 10/09/23. The PCN was dated 06/10/23 (27days) it then states "Date of service is taken as 2 working days from this date" The 6th being a Friday, that would make the date of service 09/10 My Question is, does the PNC have to be sent within 28 days or served? Thanks for taking the time to read and thanks in anticipation of a response
  3. Thanks everyone, We just got notice that we were successful and the charge does not apply. My partner is delighted and relieved to say the least.
  4. Thanks ericsbrother and others for their input. Just to be clear, do I need to point out which part of the signage is confusing or just that it is? if the former, which part should I point to. Sorry if I am not clear on this but which areas of the signs are not compliant? Also is there a part on the online form where I can make the point first about "the appellant does not believe etc;
  5. I have visited the site and can now correct a few things. Firstly there is a sign on the entrance to the site, approx. 6 ft above ground level. I have posted this. The entrance to the site is directly after a sharp right turn on a busy junction so you could be forgiven for not seeing it. I counted 18 signs around the site situated approx. 9 ft above ground.
  6. I asked a relative to take the photo of the sign and send it to me, he did but with his phone so apologies for the quality. I have just driven up to Lancaster so I will take another photo tomorrow and post it up.
  7. Sorry about the delay posting these but I had to wait for my partner to get back to me. I am attaching the NTK and the one of the signs that were in place. My partner counted approx. 11 signs around the car park but none at the entrance.
  8. Thanks for the responses and info. I don't have the NTK at present as my partner has it and she wont be here until next weekend so I will post it up then. the incident took place in her home town in Lancaster, so she is going to get photo's of the signage.
  9. Hi, the incident allegedly happened on 17th August, parking charge notice was issued on 21st, response was sent 1st Sept with p.o.p. The appeal refusal along with POPLA code was dated 6th Oct. I hope these images are better
  10. free meals and refreshments appropriate to the delay Does anyone know what this means? I was recently delayed coming back from Portugal. After 2 hours we were given a voucher for 5 euros (£3.50). A sandwich cost 5 euros so we had to pay for drinks. Am I expecting too much to want refreshments to include at least a drink with my sandwich, I suppose I could have had a packet of crisps instead.
  11. My partner received a letter from Care Parking saying that her car had been parked at Parliament retail park, Lancaster, and that it had overstayed the permitted 2 hours. She sent the requisite response, acknowledging being the keeper etc, She has received their rejection with a POPLA code. Can you please give us the advice as to what to do next?
  12. :wink:More this I think (winker) I didn't see the OP mention being married.. What a great attitude you have, if your partner makes the slightest mistake, no matter what the reason or state of mind, get rid!!!
  13. Surely by not going to the police and accepting a refund, giving the car back, thereby leaving it in circulation, you would be complicit in a crime
  14. I'm no expert but I would have thought that the first port of call would be the police. This is not just a consumer issue but a criminal matter.
  15. The only advice neccesary was given in post 2:roll:
  16. I've only just been able to check in and I have to say my flabber has never been so gasted. I wish I had the knowledge to offer constructive advice, I can only offer my best wishes for the forthcoming appeal.
  17. Best wishes for Thursday. This thread has kept me enthralled for so long I don't know what I'm going to do during my lunch break from now on! Good luck!!
  18. :)To all you Caggers A very grateful colleague bought me a nice bottle of single malt, as she has received a full refund from the bank totalling £780. thanks to your input, I'll raise a glass in your honour. As she said, she would not have chased this if it had not been for me giving advice, but I would not have known to give the advice if I had not found this site. Thanks again
  19. Thanks for your replies. I have passed on your comments. My colleaque is going to make enquiries, she thinks they payed with American express By the way Wino, it was the manufacturer who charged them for the repair.
  20. Hi guys, I wonder if you can help? A colleaque bought a t.v. from Empire Direct in 2008, it has subsequently developed a fault in the last few weeks. She was given a three year warranty but when she phoned the contact number the pre recorded message said that the company had ceased trading, and the company that had taken over the business could not or would not honour any warranties. She has paid out about £170 to have the fault rectified. My quetion is does she have any claim against anyone for recompence?
  21. 30 seconds, 5 minutes or an hour, what does it matter if it is a ppc? They don't issue tickets, they leave invoices.
  22. They can't "fine" you because they do not have the authority to issue fines. Also family spaces are meaningless on private land (ppc= private parking company= [problematic])
