  1. This may well have been answere somewhere else if so apologies and could you point me to the correct thread. Changed tariffs with bg to their supposed cheapest tariff, have just had 1st bill (statement) couldn't believe my eyes the standing charge has gone up by 50% and now they want me to increase my d/d for gas alone to £113 per month although their projection for my gas useage over the year is only £758 pa am I loosing my marbles or is their a big discrepancy somewhere and when were bg allowed to up standing charges by 50%. no debt history with either electricity or gas and have "supposed" cheapest duel fuel tariff £1900 per year for a 3 bed semi isn't very cheap, or is all the "blurb" just that
  2. this company wont be getting any more business from me despite their protestations of despatch with 24hrs of payment the parts were lieing in their depot for 3 days no reason given then they tried to blame dhl and royal mail simple answer wont use them again
  3. needed some parts for my car saw on line add reviewed prices of the above company were very reasonable so ordered them using debit card, they stated after money paid/approved 24hr despatch , not likely they are despite their name and contact number they are german and delivery is up in the air at moment ..... beware
  4. sent appeal letters to both tco and recovery dept turns out that one of post codes ie, recoveries is a geographical code so could be anywhere in country currently its in bradford
  5. thanks for replies the forms you pointed out clearly state that you must report various changes within 1 month one of them being marriage or civil partnership we difd claimed as couple what are hmrc up to
  6. Maybe we were at fault for not reporting our marriage soon enough but the tax credit people( obviously you work for them or another government department) should have adjusted the award once we had informed them not taken eighteen months to decide we had been overpaid. And NO for your information we did not live together before we were married and I resent the implication that we were dishonest as we told the tax credits about every single change that happened. They admitted they were at fault for stopping my child tax credits when I was still getting child benefit and have now decided that because we didn't tell them in enough time about the marriage we are to be penalised and have to pay it back. We have filled in two tax credits form since the marriage and they have had ample time to put this right before now. Also when they send you a letter demanding repayment there is no reason given on the letter you have to ring and then get passed from pillar to post before you are actually given the reason . Surely it would be a lot easier to state the reason on the letter asking for repayment and save me sitting on the phone for hours waiting for answers and it would free up people on the other end too making the department more efficient. As regard to the child benefit. Because my daughter's 18th birthday was the 31st August the child benefit office agreed I was entitled to child benefit for her from when she left school in may until her birthday and duly back dated it for me.
  7. we weren't living together before we got married and reported the change in circs as soon as was possible and claimed as acouple from the date reported were reawarded ctc and chb thereafter they did make an error however as they did not allow the 20 week rule regarding leaving school and going on to university. that got sorted out oct 2013. we were not aware that hmrc worked bank holidays and I wonder how many other people on this site do. as far as the mandatory reconsideration we were advised to do this by hmrc yesterday, never told about this other method of dispute by hmrc, it appears that this is a technical exercise as we clearly qualify for the benefit so it appears they are going to take it away then give it back. Further why has it taken 18 months for them to realise that an overpayment had taken place
  8. got letter from hmrc stating wed been o/p ctc got married good Friday last year and reported change in circs on april 26th after returning from honey moon explained this to hmrc this am not good enough. good Friday was 30/03 and was told we should have reported it then. how many hmrc work good Friday or easter Monday. am I being daft or unreasonable in thinking I may have been a couple of days late and that the tax man is just being silly. to be perfectly honest @58 widowed and remarried I wasn't thinking about ctc reporting for a fortnight .I am of course asking for a mandatory reconsideration. I would be very gratefull for some advice as to how to proceed when the mandatory recon is declined; I suppose if I owed them millions a couple of lunches would have cleared the matter up ok but it appears being honest must be done on a bank holiday, oh yes got a call from some dca about this but they don't count.
  9. my step-son returned from Oz about a year ago and went to live with his sister claimed JSA which he received after a family fall out he moved to his other sisters now dwp have stopped his jsa because they say he has no proof of residence and further he must wait for 3 months before he can claim. He 29 a uk citizen what help is available re funding ie. no income as dwp insistent that he must have 3 months residence at sisters. Are dwp correct and now social fund is defunct who does he apply to regarding finance. Advice would be welcome. .
  10. well I eventually got through to the tax authority, they claim to have no record of my claim, yet recorded delivery says differentently and further they say that ive never rang them the last time they have on record of a t/phone conversation was in march when I requested a r40 (it never arrived): they have now suggested that I send them another r40 along with a p45 as they say that as I do not receive benefit as explained before it may be problematic in refunding my tax. they weren't very amused when I offered to take them to lunch to speed up the process just goes to show it does not help being "straight" with hmrc
  11. as thread states got my ppi refund not much bother really only to find hmrc have taken a chunk out of the interest. I don't pay tax but don't get benefit as my wife works. sent r40 to tax office but they keep passing it from one office to another , its currently in Leicester, im fed up with ringing them 4 times today allways engaged. advice would be greatfully accepted
  12. hello conniff i posed a simple question and would normally expect at least a civil reply we all make mistakes (obviously not you)
  13. my beloved has unfortunately had the same trouble nat west said they would stop all payments due to none receipt of goods and to their due they returned 2 amounts of £1.95 however they havent managed to get £168 that they took. lo and behold another £170 has been debited against my account over the weekend, they say it slipped through because the company changed their name slightly queeried this with the bank they say they havent paid it out yet but cant refund the amount until it hits my statement it could take 2 days it could be hanging in limbo for ages. surely the merchant bank acting for slimtone must have a clue as to whats going on or is it another case of its your fault
  14. simply informed "chap" from council that a complaint laid before me must be accompanied by evidence he said it had i new it hadnt and asked him to produce the papers, he couldnt further i had the name of the member pf the clerks staff who told me everything was done by t/phone. he didnt object then
  15. i dont care if they mark my card as i can and am more than willing to give the local authority a run for my money i only hope that they will try to be a bit more equitable and lawfull with other people but i doubt it. i feel a bit of a campign coming on.
  16. loads went through "on the nod" i objected little chap from council said on this occasion we wont ask for summons costs or liability order id had a word with him before 14.00 and told him i was going to object and on what grounds
  17. im paying the outstanding debt am monday before court hearing, bearing in mind that the summons is unlawfull and there is no outstanding debt what is the possible outcome
  18. yes the court costs for issue of the"summons" have allready been added to the bill ie.£50 i have this in b/w the summons was issued by the l/a between 03/10 jan on their own letterhead, it had never been to the court as i ranf the court to ask for an adjourment to be told that they didnt deal with the issue it was done by l/a over the phone, however it was signed by the clerk to justices,i should clarify that by saying it was clearly a pre signed squiggle (photo copied) the case is not till 28th inst. the clerks office told me how they did it and was told if i wanted an adjourment to contact l/a i offer this up for thought the ctj nowadays is normally a solicitor ie. an "officer of the court" not allowed to committ or allow to be committed, is it not the case if as the summons states information has been laid before me today if this is untrue is it not an offence ie. attempt to gain a pecuniary advantage by deception i think off the top of my head is sec 15 of theft act even though it is accepted practise is it equitable
  19. thanks for the reply but how can the council send out a letter before the hearing dtailing the original debt + court fees+ the cost of the liability order and a repayment plan and notice that if i do not adhere to the plan recovery action will be taken without further recourse
  20. had a quick word with courts and tribs service they say this practise is ok, yesterday lo and behold bill from local authority it had a payment plan attached however court charges and cost of liability order was included, now that tells me that irrespective of my going to court or not liability order would be made, that cant be right, i winder how much l/a and mag courts are making out of this method 80 cases are going through the "system" on the same date as mine thats a great profit off one phone call letter to clerk of the justices is due, and also a foi request to local authority are in order
  21. have had problems with la over wrong ct bills received mag court summons they have charged £50 court fee plus they are going to ask for liability order my problem is outstanding ct is £110 which is still going through an official complaint i know that the papers have not been to court yet the la are still going to charge £50 is this lawfull or are l/a allowed to just rubber stamp applications
  22. well its now jan still waiting for an answer from complaints, have had 3 bills in last 6 weeks all factually wrong ie.contain somes of money we do not receive for instance they claim my wife receives carers allowance, not had that for 4 years also they say we receive child maintenance we don't durham are a shambles got court summons or as the court said a rubber stamp summons indeed they said that the council told them how many liability orders they were going to apply for and they were rubber stamped, im going to court with all the paperwork to object.
  23. are they part of lowell group as their address is same or are lowells hiring space
  24. well surprise surprise, my appeal was turned down, didnt have a chance really, even though i produced relevant evidence, it was just brushed aside by the chair, as far as the contempt is concerned the "chair" said hed read my appeall papers and wasnt very happy that id made a recording of the examination by atos, wasnt suited when i told him it was perfectly lawfull provided it was for my own record, he then asked me was i recording the tribunal proceedings i said no and offered to let him search me. things went down hill rapidly after that. didnt get a fair crack of the whip new before i got the result he would rule in favour of atos
  25. well ive had 24hrs now to consider my tribunal, it was a bit of a "farce" really im pleased it happened to me and not somebody who will no doubt have been upset about the proceedings. being threatened with "contempt" by the chair before the hearing started to wanting to know how i met my wife and weather we were intimate or not, (that took the biscuit) and the chair was politely told it had nothing to do with him, to the reason for not giving me an answer other than i hope you think weve been fair with you even if you dont like the outcome sums the tribunal up. cant wait to get a transcript of the hearing and a statement of reasons.
