  1. They emailed me yesterday and there was a PO Box on the bottom. I emailed them back saying I would be writing to them today and could they please not contact me on the phone. They emailled back saying I'm obliged to call them that's why they do not provide an address! 'correspondence is not suitable for setting such an arrangement'
  2. I'm having trouble with these as well! they call me all the time!! They ring my mobile constantly and they have started calling me at work. They must have listened to the voicemail of my office and have started calling my managers direct line. I have letters but no address which of the above addresses shall I write to? Are they all right?
  3. They put my dads address on the invoice which showed missed payments from months ago before he brought it. So he has to pay this then and try to get it back from the seller instead? Poo!
  4. £900 he must have proved he owned the boat. Like I said I wasn't there when he actually brought it so do not know exactly but he knew nothing about these fees when he brought the boat.
  5. Thanks, I'll tell him to try speaking to the boat yard again. I do think it is unreasonable to hold my dad responsable for someone elses debt.
  6. He contacted the guy on ebay then went up to see the boat. He then brought it from him. I don't know what exactly was said as I wasn't there but I assume the sellers address wasn't discussed. although thinking about it I'm sure the boat yard will have it. The seller isn't answering any emails or phone calls though.
  7. I am not sure on details at all and could be completly wrong but wasn't there a test case where mortgages were sold and then they had to be written off because who the money was actually owed to couldn't be traced? I can't rememeber where I read it, probably completly wrong but you never know lol
  8. The seller is just ignoring him he only has a mobile number and email on ebay.
  9. Nothing in this contract at all! Should I write them a letter saying something along those lines!
  10. What does that mean then? Will their debts be sold to someone else? I don't really understand it at all just worried because my mortgage is with them and have spent last hour looking for answers on internet and now my heads spinning!
  11. "all charges are payable in advance unless otherwise arranged and no vessels or other property may be removed from the yard until all outstanding accounts have been paid. The company is entitled to exercise a general lien on customer property including vessels and has the right to dispose of such property"
  12. The boat people are not being very nice about this at all and they are still adding to the bill even though they wont let my dad take the boat! They did send my dad a copy of a standard contract and also a copy of the invoice which is made out to the original owner. Is he going to have to pay this then and chase the original owner? Or is there any way he could get the boat company to see it's not his debt? Seems very unfair
  13. So it is the seller that he has to arguw it with not the boat people?
  14. Update on this! Been paying the council £5 straight to them online, but they wrote to me and told me that they can't accept it and I have to deal with bailiffs. They also told me the amount still owed, it's about £400. Bailiffs wrote to me and included a copy of the letter they wrote back to the council about my complaint. They basically saying that they never told me I was being arrested that they had agreed to my payments and I just hadn't kept them and they said they checked with the DVLA and when found out teh cars weren't mine they left that alone. They telling me I owe them about £800 now! They sent another bailiff to my house last week (I was at work) and put another charge notice through my door again saying they would take the car infront of my house (it's still not my car!) I still paying direct to the council but if they aren't accepting it where is the money going and why are the bailiffs still doing this? Grrr!!
  15. Hi, I am posting on behalf of my dad. He recently retired and with his nice lump sum for his pension he went onto ebay and brought a sailing boat. He went to see it, paid the man all very happy. Then when he went up to move the boat from the place where it is moored to his own boat club, they told him they were not going to let the boat go until the £500 debt was paid on it fee's from the previous owner. Are they allowed to do this? Doesn't seem very fair that the old owner didn't pay the mooring fees so my dad now has to?
