I've recently (last weekend) moved into a shorthold residential property. I intially wanted a lease until december (I have a 1 year contract where I work and want them to coincide with that ending in december, incase I needed to move on), however the letting agency insisted that the landlord would not agree to this (too close to christmas) and suggested October as the end of the lease. I agreed to this, but made it very clear I was interested in staying for the long term and would want to increase my lease once I knew that I had secured a new contract at work. However when picking up the keys on saturday morning I was informed that I would not be allowed have an additional lease after October as the landlord was planning on selling the property. I believe that the letting agency knew of this before I agreed to the let (they read out an email from the landlord stating his intention to sell up, but would not allow me to see it) and have misled me in this matter. If I known about this I would not have taken the property. This has now left me in a very awkward position where I will be looking for a new place to live 6 weeks before I am possibly out of work. Do I have any options on furthering this complaint about the Letting Agents, and if so what are they? Thanks Lee
