  1. Thank you Scott, sorry i posted in the wrong place. And thank you to you all for your help. It doesn't state it in my contract but what it does say is that if they send any correspondence then it's part of the contract and they sent a letter stating it should be the 13th etc. So there we go. I'm still going to move out on the 19th Sept but my partner is going to stay until October so reducing the amount we're both paying. I just wish it was in the contract, after all, isn't that where you would look for things like this? Plus i thought the Ombudsmen states that agents aren't allowed to use a tenants ignorance of the law against them so if it's an industry "standard" but it's not in the contract then it's ignorance! Anyway there we go. Thank you all again.
  2. Hi All, I really would like help from someone. We started out AST on 14th November 2008, when the AST came up for renewal we asked not to sign another and it went on to a rolling monthly / periodic tenancy. We then decided we wanted to move and both of us read our original AST contract front to back and it doesn't state *anywhere* what notice period we have to give. So we wrote out our letter giving a month's notice as of 22nd August 2009 to move out on the 21st September. We've now been told by the managing agents that we have to give notice as of the 14h of the month to move out on the 13th, in other words we can't now give notice until the 14th September to move out on the 13th October!!! This would be fine if i'd have spotted it in the contract but it doesn't say anything anywhere!!! Surely if it's contractual it should state it in our contract? Can anyone help me? Thank you
  3. I hate bullies and have been bullied in many different offices by people at different levels of authority. But, I would rather leave than put in a complaint because you may be the one that ends up looking like a trouble maker and the company may keep their eye on you and you may end up losing your job for some other reason if you don't keep you nose extremely clean. I hate to give you this advice but in my experience companies are beasts and they are the bad guys and you have to look after yourself. It could go on for months and is hard to remember times and dates and also is hard to prove and you may end up poorly because of it. Much luck for whatever your decision is.
  4. Thank you for responding, I'm seeing the agent tonight so I'm pleased someone responded so quickly and sorry about the weird face, typed a smiley but it went wrong. Hey, does anybody else find it hard keeping 100% professional in the office? Unlike a lot of people I find it hard being a different person at work than I am at home. I'm just me and now and then it gets me into trouble. My best friend, who I worked with a few years ago, is a completely different person at work, all out for herself and I honestly didn't like her at work but she's the best friend anyone could ask for outside of work. Me, I'm just myself and if someone is rude to me I'll be civil but not kind or polite and I'm quite outspoken and seem confidant too and i've been told that intimidates people but I don't know how to change myself to always watch my back and keep my distance from colleagues and just go to work, keep my mouth shut and my head down i'm so damned opinionated!! Does anyone else have this problem or does anyone have any advice as to how I can change?
  5. Hi, Does anyone know if I can look for work while off work for stress? I can't stay in my current job, the atmosphere is too hostile and it's making me poorly. I've signed onto some employment sites but one has called me and wants to see me outside of my normal work hours (not sure if that makes a difference). This is my first week off sick and my doctors say that I can't get a doctors note before first signing myself off so I'll be sending in my form today and will probably hand in my notice on Monday with immediate effect and will get temp work but I'd like to kow there's something in the pipeline before handing in my notice. Any advice would be grately welcomed :o)
