  1. Right. They are now telling me that they had the right to withdraw that money they put in because my original instructions were for them to pay the money to the agent...but I had already withdrawn it. In short, my account was at zero when they withdrew that money.
  2. No. at the time, I had no overdraft, arrangement or otherwise. When the money was credited into my account, there was probably a few pennies in there. The account was only left open purely for the purpose of dealing my claim, once that was sorted, I went to close the account down and thats pretty much how it started.
  3. Hello all, No, the account was not overdrawn nor were there any direct debits. Pete - the evidence is there. Bank staff were completely baffled by this but the general excuse which they are all using now is that I instructed the agent to receive the money. I still have the paperwork from the agent which states that it is quite likely that HSBC will pay the money into my account anyway - which they did. The agent hasn't got a case to answer for. They acted as they would etc. What I cant get over is that I withdrew the money from my account over 7 days and spent it then HSBC debited nothing to make my account look hugely overdrawn even though I had no overdraft facility.
  4. Dear all, I managed to reclaim my charges but the downside was that I went through an agent. When settlement was reached, I was informed that HSBC would probably put the money in my account anyway which they did. I withdrew this money over the course of 7 days and then I got a routine call saying that my account was overdrawn - the figure represented the amount that was initially credited to my account. Obviously, I was not happy about this and raised a dispute. HSBC said they would investigate but it now appears that they did no such thing, rather, slapped loads of interest on top. The matter is now with the FSA. I'm quite prepared to take this to court. Has anyone been in a similar position?
  5. I have had a managed loan. I was a student (HSBC refused to grant a student account) with an overdraft of £500. In the summer, I got a decent job which would have cleared everyting but a week or two before I was due to be paid, I got the dreaded phone call. I pleaded with them to give me that time to pay or increase my overdraft temporarily and I would pay it but they would not, insisting that the managed loan was the best option for me and in any case, once I start earning money, I could restore my account to a current one etc. Thinking back, I was robbed as I didn't know my options. I thought I was smart by paying as little as I could, if only they informed me otherwise. I only had to pay back aboyt £400 through this managed loan and it took about three or four years. The majority of these banks are crooks - simple and I would like to join in on an action.
