  1. Just to say after sending that letter, and a few emails to a few people, I have not heard back from either Wescott or Television X since. I think we can presume this is case won
  2. So. I signed up for television X on British digital free-view. On the screen it said £5 for a night or £9.99 for a month. Rung them and eventually it offered the £9.99 a month option, so as soon as the voice said that I clicked the appropriate telephone number and payed. Little did I know that AFTER she says this she then says something like "there is a compulsory minimum subscription of 12 months", but I did not hear that as I had already pressed the number, so she did not say this at all during my phone call. I hardly used the channel. The quality was frankly as good a channel five late night movie. Only watched a few times in the first week then got bored. Then a month or so later I went on holiday to thailand for 5 weeks. Came back to a little letter from Wescot debt collection agency. I also got a letter from television X warning of further action if I did not pay. "TO AVOID WESCOT TAKING FURTHER ACTION, YOU MUST: PAY THE DEBT IN FULL TO [ADDRESS] OUTSTANDING BALANCE £99" I think that the card I used ran out of money after 2 months or so. I have all my bank statements from any month to hand. Also, I found this online which could apply to me. So, what to do? Do I ring Wescot? Television X? Or dont ring anyone? ???
  3. Okay so this is now ridiculous, they're claiming that theres no record of the cash at all going in at the end of day checks, that I'm not on the CCTV and that they basically think I'm lying. I'm going to ask to downgrade my account and get rid of my overdraft until they find my money. I dont have enough in my account to do this (300 overdrawn and downgrading my account gives me a 100 pound overdraft only) but when they find my money that should be fine. If they say I cant I am really going to loose my temper with them.
  4. They said that they dont have to give reciepts unless they are requested anymore, so I just presumed it was okay. If you go into a bank and give them money directly you expect it to go straight in. It always has in the past, so I saw no reason to ask for a receipt. Wish I had though. And I am sure it was that account and that branch. they are currently looking through the footage on wednesday afetr I convinced them to put the time aside. But if they say that I'm not on the CCTV then, then I really dont know what to do. They must have missed me. And I'm going to have to start getting confrontational.
  5. I went down to my bank and paid £220 in cash into it on either thursday 15th or wednesday the 14th of oct this month. I also have a claim ongoing for them to refund the unfair charges (about £600 in total). Well about six days after depositing the money I checked online and i was surprised that the money was not there. So I went to the branch and they said they would check through the records for any errors. They phonoed back later and said that they could not see any errors in their totals for that day. I explained that I had just requested a new pin number, so the woman behind the till had not swiped my card but had done it on paper with a handwritten slip instead. So a day or so later I went down and told them I thought it was Thurday that I deposited the money. Remembering is very hard for me; I am currently withdrawing from prescription benzodiazepines, which really effect your memory. They requested I tell them a time of day, and I really could not remember, so guessed the end of the day. It took them 20 mintues to search through 1.5 hours of footage on the CCTV, and I was not there. I eventually convinced them to search through the rest of the day (thursday), and they phoned back at the end of the day saying I was not on the CCTV for thursday at all. I've spent the last few days racking my brains and am quite sure that the only day left it could be is wednesday the 14th. Though again I can not be 100% sure due to my bad memory. The withdrawals have been too bad the last few days for me to face social situations, let alone confrontations. I'm going to ask them to check wednesdays footage today (now 14days later). I was just wondering, since they claim to have no record of me depositing in the money, and all their *checks* and totals apparently add up for that day/week, even if they do see me on the CCTV will this be enough to warrant them admitting to the mistake and paying the £220 into my account? Or will it be a bit more complex than that? I am 100% sure I payed in the money, I remember the woman counting it and putting it in the till and swiping the paying in slip. Its just so annoying it didn't work out like normal. Any advice appreciated, Cheers.
  6. Great, I'll check it out tomorrow. Though my attendance is not very good (infact non-existant) due to my diagnosed depression and social/general anxiety. Which my monetary situation isn't exactly helping at the mo. Looks like attendance is the first thing they ask about on the form though, I hope they'll accept a doctors note.
  7. I've just got some paperwork back after I sent off my HC1 form to get free prescriptions (need to add a couple of extra details then re-post) and I asked at the pharmacy if I could have a print out of all my previous prescriptions this year. Every prescription is at the standard govenment rate of £7.10-£7.20 I think. They looked a bit confused and said that they were not sure if I would be allowed to claim back previous prescriptions I had already paid for. They were very helpful however, and said that they should be able to go back on their NHS system and print off evidence of all my transactions, and they said that there is a very small chance they may even be able to find and reprint the receipts. They said they would ask a few people and to come back tomorrow. So, since I've paid about £150 for my medicines this year and every student has the right for free prescriptions, I'm guessing I also have a right to request back payments for previous transactions, even if I was late in filling in my HC1 form. You think? I didn't even realize students got free prescriptions until about a month ago. Thanks.
  8. Yeah, appreciated, I'm trying really hard to get one at the moment, but the one that I was elligable for was monthly payments, which really doesn't help me. And all the other students have beat me to it now its already Easter, so its very unlikely I'm going to get a job anywhere. Let alone one that pays weekly. I'm gonna go and chat to a few banks. I'll say I'm really angry with Lloyds for charging me and want to change banks, and tell them I've got finances coming in within a month. Might sway the deal a bit if they think they're getting a customer from their rivals. Nothing else? QuickQuids looking more and more appealing, because I know for sure that I WILL have the money to pay the loan back. Are there any other ways to get sort term loans that dont involve these online payday groups?
  9. Hi peeps. I've been, well, slightly overexuberant with my money the last few months, and have managed to max out the overdrafts on both my Natwest Student Account (£-1250 limit) and my Lloyds TSB Silver account (£-350 limit). Got about £10 left in each. My student loan of about £1500 comes in on the 5th of May. And I have to pay my rent of £95 by the 1st of May. I'm currently selling stuff on ebay, but thats only gonna make me about £30-50. I've asked for a temporary extended overdraft at lloyds, but since I went overdrawn a couple of months ago (which they made a nice bit of money off, the theifs ) they said I'm not allowed to do this for another two months. And Natwest said its not possible on a student account. ....so. I've thought about many options I could take, heres my list, could people cross some off for me or just give me some general advice. I dont think some of them are very likely, but I'm really stuck in a corner here so cant think of anything else. 1) Get a Month Loan from a payday web-site that allows students to do so. 2) Open up a new bank account with various banks with an overdraft facility to get me through the month, then close the account when its paid in. 3) Get a credit card. 4) Beg and cry to mommy.* 5) Become a drug dealer.* 6) ??????????????????? The good thing is that I'm starting to work on the 4th of May, so wont have any issues in the future. But getting a job right now (that would pay weekly too) is nearly impossible. Thanks in advance. * They were sarcastic
  10. ( I accidentally deleted my actual questions in a previous edit, so sorry if that confused anyone, i've put them back in now )
  11. Hi people, Having slight problems with TSB, I have been put on an unplanned overdraft, and this month I got a shock when i found out that i was charged £215! in one go. Originally I went just 10 pounds into the red in about october, just as I lost my job, and so i couldn't quite pay it off. Now, entirely from that ten pounds, i have had my original overdraft of £250 removed, and am now £600 in the red purely from the charges. It just really annoys me because i have not used my account at all since that ten pounds four months ago, and so I feel that charging me £600 in total for originally being just £10 over is highly unfair. I want the money back, and it looks like this is the place to start. I have today, rather reluctantly, setup a planned overdraft, and (apparently) will not be charged any further as long as i pay back £100 a month, which i should just about be able to manage for now. just two quick questions to start with; 1) Will asking just for the recent charges (the £600) and telling the bank i am willing to overlook old charges benefit me in any way? will it make it quicker? make them accept my request earlier? I say that becasue it is a relatively new account and i haven't had many charges before so wouldn't be gaining that much extra. I'm just thinking along the lines that my claim may get put into a different system and not with all the other claims that are requesting all charges be returned. 2) Does it make my claim any harder as i am actually overdrawn, as opposed to just claiming back old fee's with my account in balance?

    Hi every1

Greetings. Having slight problems with Lloyds TSB and i'm in a bit of a muddle about where to start. I have been put on an unplanned overdraft, and this month I got a shock when i found out that i was charged £215! in one go. Originally I went just 10 pounds into the red in about november, just as I lost my job, and so i couldn't quite pay it off, even though it was just £10. Now, entirely from that ten pounds, i have had my overdraft removed, and am now £600 in the red purely from the charges, and very ****ed off. It just really annoys me because i have not used my account at all since that ten pounds, and so I feel that charging me £600 in total for originally being just £10 over is highly unfair. I want my money back, and it looks like this is the place to start. From a quick look at my situation, approximately what do you think the chances are of getting it back? Any help appreciated, Thanx.
