  1. If I remember rightly there was a court case a year or two ago where a guy was found guilty of deception or something like that, anyway he would call certain Inland Revenue offices posing as a worker from another department and would obtain details of certain people who DCA's were looking for. I think they called it "blagging", he was charging £25 per address and I am sure a certain DCA was named as one of his customers.
  2. 42man, Now that the 12 days is up I'll send a copy off to them as soon as the next threat-o-gram arrives, which will probably be very soon. Thanks.
  3. Received a letter from Thames a couple of days ago stating that they have not yet received a response from me. In the second paragraph they go on to say they need me to contact them regarding the issue I have raised (I take it they mean the CCA request). Obviously they have received a response and this is the issue they are refering to, so why say I have not responded to them? I would copy and post the letter but it is so full of cr@p it might break my scanner. The signature for the special delivery has now appeared on the Royal Mail website and the 12 working days from receipt is up tomorrow.
  4. From what I understand the debts are bought in bulk, so no, a S.A.R would not give you this information.
  5. silverfox1961, have a read of my thread regarding Lowell, its a long read but it does have a happy ending! Alex Delarge V's Lowell **WON**
  6. Sorry to hear that these lowlifes have made your life a misery, you have found the CAG now so things will get a lot better from here on in.
  7. Can you CCA'em for a Mobile account or do you have to SAR?
  8. Today I received a letter from Lowell, thought it was a cheque as they owe me money for costs from last weeks victory in court. It was not a cheque but 2 letters, 1 from Lowell and 1 from 3, regarding an old mobile account from about 4 years ago. The amount owed is less than £150. My credit file is already ruined so I have nothing to lose + I hate the idea of this **** getting a penny from me. I have read a similar thread today and the end result was they paid £100 to Lowell as their credit file was unblemished and was not worth damaging for the sake of £100. I was going to offer 25% as full and final settlement and take it from there. Your thoughts please.
  9. I would never pay the £1 for a CCA by cheque, that is bad advice.
  10. If you are not in default and are not behind with payments and can afford the re-payments then my advice is to continue paying.
  11. I would send nothing for the time being, if they continue to send begging/threatening letters, just let them build up and use them as evidence later, the more they send the worse it will look for them at a later date if it goes to court. Once the 12 days is up start scanning all the letters you receive, make copies and after a couple of months when you have a few letters send the lot to your local trading standards office, around this time send Thames a reminder letter regarding your CCA request and their none compliance. Send TS a copy of this letter and a copy of your original letter requesting a copy of your CCA request, put copies of these in with the other letters you send. This is what I did with Lowell, by the time it went to court I had over 30 threat-o-grames from them plus a letter back from TS confirming they were looking into it, and that they had copied all letters and had sent them off to the TS office in Leeds where Lowell are based. I put all of the events into a time line which I read out in court, I only wrote to Lowell twice, once to request my CCA and the second time to remind them that the account was in default. They know the law better than you and are fully aware of what they are doing.
  12. You have done your bit, just wait and see what arrives next. I CCA'd them last week so I wonder if I will get the same letter.
  13. I have experience of these losers, after I received the letter from them confirming they were in receipt of my CCA request, they went on the pester me for another 9 months, included sending a Statutory Demand, which I had set aside this week with Lowell paying my costs, they didn't even turn up to court.
  14. Ha, when it does show it will probably just be an X, I will do as you advise ODC, thanks. BB, yes at least it is showing as delivered, could be worse.
  15. Well, they have been in receipt of my CCA request for 6 working days now, there is still no receipt signature on the Royal Mail website, although it does say it has been delivered. Has anybody had problems with Thames Credit signing for letters sent via Special Delivery? If there is no signature by Monday I will have to call Royal Mail and chase it up.
  16. I was going to send a cheque but have just sent £20 via Paypal, I will try and donate every month from now on.
  17. Thanks, could not have done it without the CAG.
  18. Do not call them, I have just dealt with a Statutory demand this week and won, although your circumstances are different to mine, as the SD was not served correctly that is grounds alone to have the SD set aside, thats if you admit to receiving it, someone will be along soon with a better understanding than me.
  19. I can't believe this! I was going to wait until my cheque for costs arrived before I made a donation (after my victory this week thanks to the CAG). I will now be posting a cheque this week, good luck and you have my support all the way.
  20. Firstly a big thank you to all on the forum who have helped me over the last 9 months, I could not have got through this without you all. I had my set a side hearing this week, the set a side was granted, with costs being awarded in full (over £200). The Judge was very understanding and said my paperwork was excellent. Lowell did not even turn up. If a mod could change the thread title to Alex_Delarge V's Lowell **WON** that would be great. Soon as the cheque arrives I will be making a well deserved donation to the forum. I'm off to celebrate with a cup of Tea. Thames Credit, I'm ready for you now!
  21. CCA request received and signed for by Thames Credit on the 3rd, so I guess they have until the 20th of October to comply.
