  1. (OOO!!) Morning MrTWS ( How's you? ) - You must keep us posted.. I personally still don't mind adding anything/ doing anything I can to expose these wasters. I have not heard anything since I sent the 'prove I owe this debt' letter in Feb. but the 5 letters I had in December and January did just enough to ruin my Christmas and New Year. So I know how other people feel when they are receiving post from the Lows. I'm not bitter - well actually I suppose I am because once you have been bullied in any form you never forget..
  2. Hi That's great news- it's good to hear something in our favour and not The Lows!
  3. Well Hello MrTWS! I've not been around but am still following all the stuff on here (great job what you're doing BTW) Tried to pop onto the other forum a few times but can only think it was too many Barcardi drinks preventing me:smile: I am still more than willing to support and speak out when and however I can. Let me know what else I can do. Already e-mailed watchdog and spoken to TS, overdosed my work colleagues, friends and family on DCA issues - they are sick to the back teeth of me and run when they see me coming but hey at least they'll be in the know if this kind of rubbish lands on their door step:lol:
  4. Well it's all gone quiet on here, but peeps are probably doing their 'get stuffed Lowell' and don't bother me again thing..
  5. Don't know what's going on with these DCA's! I have recieved letters from Lowell and Red Debt. Sent the 'Prove I owe this debt' letter over 5 weeks ago - no response to date. Anyway, got chatting to my elderly neighbour yesterday who lives on the same street and surprise surprise, he recieved a letter from (I think he said) John Lewis group ?Advent back in January saying they had bought a debt, but didn't say what the debt was for. Didn't want to pry and ask if he owes this debt or not, because that's not my business. My question is are the DCA's all part of the same club, and/or are they picking out an area/ street and doing a sweep or what?!
  6. Evening Doug - Who is Seth?!! - I'm obviously missing out on something here (or am I just not getting the point?!! Notice James hasn't come through:roll:
  7. Very Well said! That certainly puts things in perspective to the LOW - ells' underhand and shabby Cr** They give no regard that they are dealing with real people, not losers like themselves. These people have a new venture now.. CHASING THE DEBTS OF THE DECEASED WHILST ENJOYING AWAY DAYS AT CONFERENCES AT HIGH CLASS HOTELS, PLAYING A FEW ROUNDS ON THE GOLF COURSE WHILST TELLING PEOPLE HOW TO RECOVER THESE DEBTS FROM DEAD PEOPLE:x . LOW or what?
  8. Hi Mr TWS It says browser not found! Can't access your link, so can't see your post
  9. Hi everyone Before I go and sign for a recorded letter - (Royal Mail left me a card today whilst I was at work) I sent for my CCA on the 18th Jan 08 and am not expecting anything else through the post, so it's either that, or could this be a cunning plan of theirs to make me sign for and agree to something before I open it? Anyone experienced any similar tactics/ any advice? I might be getting paranoid but I can't put anything past these people thesedays! Thanks
  10. Hi MR TWS The wesite's great! A couple of Q's. When I click on the link to send a comment, outlook express comes up. Might sound silly but I don't use outlook express fo my mails. If I commented using it, would it get sent? Also how do we get to read what others have said too? PS I sent for my CCA on the 18th Jan (I sent one before but realised they "would't have got it" as I forgot to rec. delivery it) Let's hope this gets to Watchdog. Now that would be good!
  11. Fourth letter when I got home this evening. Saying because I have not responded within 7 days, after their reduced and once in an only lifetime offer, action will now be taken against me. Thing is I only recived the reduced payment letter on the 22nd of Jan. We are now 25th Jan. What the b****y h**l is going on with these people? The only letter I want through my door is the copy of my CCA. Nuther ruined weekend.
  12. I've had some fantastic news today. Not! Another letter from Red Debt CollectionServices 'Special Recoveries Unit' Reading-"Our client has asked us to offer you a reduced settlement figure in order to close this outstanding account before we proceed with further action. We would therefore like to offer you the following-Balance outstanding £959.31. Discount amount £479.50. New balance £479.81.This settlement is only available for a limited period only (What?! Sounds like an ad for double glazing) BlahBlah If we don't recieve communication from you within 7 days we will recommend to our client further action be taken against you" I am almost feeling sorry for them..
  13. Hopefully by phone? mmm..Yes I tried to ring them after receiving the 1st letter as I was baffled by it. Luckily for me I phoned on a Sat at 2pm. (they close at 12.00) At the time, I was furious that they were closed as I wanted to know what this was about and needed answers. Even more than lucky for me I managed to discover this site before the Monday, when I would have called again. Phew...!
  14. Good on you for starting the campaignMr TWS! I will certainly follow with interest. I can't contribute with any advice as this is a first for me on receiving a letter from Lowells and then one from Red Debt collection agency in December 2007. Don't want to repeat what I originally posted (too long!) I am not familiar with legal terminology and have never been in a position like this before, but briefly, the letter came out of the blue. I had a barclaycard 20 years ago, presumed it was paid off and am now being told I owe £900.57p. Not had a full night's sleep since I got the letter. I have had some advice from CAG, thank goodness
  15. Has anyone had a problem with npower? I had a prepayment meter fitted when my lodger moved in. I thought it would make things easier. When my lodger moved out I had a constant battle to get it changed back. This was 2 years ago. They kept saying I was in debt. Cut a long story short, they said I owed £1500 and couldn't change the meter back whilst I was in debt. After I insisted on an investigation, it was found they owed me £55 because they had never updated the meter to account for the rise in price increases. So 2 years of constant battles, asked finally if I could get the meter changed back to mains. Guess what? Told again I owe £1500. sorted that out again- established I am in credit and appointment booked for 16th Feb. Fine. to change back to mains. Sorry to go on, but I charged my key on Thurs pm £15 and realised I had lost it between there and home. Called them at 8.20am Friday. Was advised to let the meter to get to 50p and call again.(took the afternoon off work to do so) and was told an engineer would come out within 4 hours. 4 hrs deadline(now friday evening 7.30pm) and 3p on the meter) no one had been. Called back and was told to ring again after 8pm. Did so and guess what? CLOSED. Unable to shower, get my clothes dried/prepare for a conference in Derby the next day, I managed ill prepared.Phoned them on the way down and spoke to an advisor who began to argue with me. I told her I would be returning at 10pm that evening in darkness. She asked me not to swear at her. Never did and asked for a manager to call me back. In the mean time an engineer rang me at 11.30am Sat. to say he was outside my house.I am in Derby! Luckily I spoke to a friend working for Scottish power assured me these meters are over ridden and won't switch off. He also told me if I swore, they don't even have to speak to me as I am "a swearer!" Also told me npower offices close at 8pm. This has cost me half a days pay, 2 years of stress and not a good performance at my work conference on Saturday. Even better I got home that evening to find there is £21.70 on my(I think faulty meter!) without any one gaining access to my property. No way dare I even phone them, because I may well swear. Manager did call me back and have asked for him to listen to the recorded calls and give me feedback about npower's lack of customer service and trying to goad me into swearing.. Phew! rant over, but I pay over the odds anyway for this meter and expect a decent level of customer service.Anyone else experienced similar with these incompetent people and their shabby service?
  16. Hi Kay78 You have definately come to the right place. I have an issue at the moment that I wouldn't have had a clue how to even approach it, never mind deal with it. I have had some great support over the last month from all posters (one in particular has given me some fantastic advice and support- you know who you are, I hope!) I originally joined another very well known forum and basically got a gob full and lecture that It serves people right for getting into debt in the first place. Thing is I never posted, for one that I was in debt, and two, that person didn't know enough about my situation to comment in such a flippant and unhelpful way. Needless to say I never intend to use that forum again, even though there are some genuinely helpful people on there, it's just not worth getting wound up by a particular individual. That dosen,t happen here. All the best to you!
  17. Hi Curlyben Yes it said same as last letter :original creditor: Barclaycard. Thanks for getting back, really don't know how to make sense of this
  18. Help again! I sent the letter I received on the 28th Dec, on the 2nd Jan saying I don't acknowledge the debt etc - Only thing is I was so stressed out with this and family issues I failed to send the letter by recorded delivery.( please don't say that it serves me right) I have received another letter today telling me as "You have failed to settle your outstanding balance or enter into a payment plan, our client has now instructed us to collect the outstanding monies that you owe. You can either, pay the balance in full or enter into a payment plan. This debt is not going to go away and ignoring this problem could potentially make your situation worse and we therefore strongly recommend you contact us now on the above telephone number." I will send the letter again by recorded delivery tomorrow but this just makes me think they are not going to let it lie. BTW I switched my mortgage lender on Tuesday who have confirmed was successful in writing and also ran a credit check on me, so this makes me even more confused about this situation. Any support again would be really appreciated Thank You so much
  19. Hi Curlyben Thankyou for your response ~I was thinking lots of tunnels and no lights! I will send letter on Monday. Ps what if they decide I owe this debt from 20 years ago (which I don't) Never had any letters/phone calls 'till today to say I owe this debt. Sorry to sound pathetic but a letter like this through my letterbox really freaks me out. Thanks again for your practical advice, it's very welcome
  20. Hi everyone, don't know if anyone out there may have any advice/ experienced similar but here goes; I received a letter today from a debt company saying; "your barclaycard account, ref no.** was sold to us on the 14th Dec 07and have appointed ** services to reclaim the debt". The thing is I don't have a barclaycard! I had a barclaycard 20 years ago and as far as I was aware all the balance was cleared. Can anyone help, I am at my wits end. The balance is for nearly a thousand pounds which I can ill afford. I pride myself in being good with my money, won't even accept an overdraft/credit cards/cheque books etc so I am stunned Thanks so much in anticipation
