  1. Hi, I do not want the PPI, both myself and my wife are in professional jobs where demand outstrips supply so very very unlikely one of us would be out of work for any length of time. Also, one of our salaries could, short term, sustain the houshold. This is not in question, the question is, how will the 100% rebate be handled? Cheers
  2. Hi, I have taken a new loan on the 12 May 08 with payment protection insurance (took PPI because I got the feeling acceptance of the loan depended on it, even though they say it didn't!) The loan was approx £15k (over 4 years) and the PPI portion is £2500 + £750 interest. It clearly states that I can cancel within 30 days and get a 100% rebate. What is likely to happen when I cancel this? (apart from a phone call with a sales pitch!). Will the loan be redone (I already have received and spent the loan funds). Or will they pay me the PPI portion back in cash and leave the loan as-is? Any advice gratefully received. Mr X
  3. Point made, will contact ICO first thing in the morning and not call Halifax:( Thanks again for the sound advice Lucid.
  4. Of course I have not taken it as an attack - I really appreciate the advice:) . I would not say that I was doing it for personal reasons, all I would like them to do is speed up the inevitable - repayment of my bank charges. I think I should call them and let them know I will hand the statements in to my local branch tomorrow (and get a receipt). And as a gesture of goodwill they should speed up my repayment of bak charges. I do agree that whatever happens I should hand in the bank statements as soon as possible, without the bank statements how can I make a substantiated complaint to the information commissioner?
  5. Be carefull of what? Hopefully I can get an opinion from somebody in the legal profession; I would like to call somebody high up in Halifax BoS tomorrow, explain to them I have a bank charges claim outstanding. On a seperate issue, mention to them that they accidentally sent me someone elses bank statements including lots of personal details and that I was not sure what action to take (let customer know, return bank statements to Halifax BoS branch, inform information commisioner, inform media?). Ask if there is anyway they could help me progress my bank charges claim. Can anybody see any harm in doing this?
  6. I am currently about to take legal action to recover my bank charges (£3300) and compound interest (£900). I have also just received my Wife's bank statements today and am compiling a spreadsheet of her charges. I may speak to the Halifax BoS nicely and ask them to settle the bank charges claims promptly and i'll return the statements and let them know that I would hate to have to let the customer and the Information Commissioner know about it. Any thoughts?
  7. Any suggestions on how I could approach the Halifax BoS regarding this in a non-threatening manner?
  8. OH MY GOD! - BoS have sent me someone elses bank statements and personal details. I have received in the post today someone elses bank statements along with my own . There is also an internal email from a Matthew Benn asking the DCM Admin team to supply these statements to this other customer. As well as being supplied a full set of statements for this customer, on the email it also states the customers roll number, account opening date and his full address details:shock: I want to benefit from this as this is absolutely shocking. Can I approach the BoS Halifax and ask them to compensate me and i'll return the original documents, if they do not i'll pass this on to the media. Can I do this or is that blackmail? Or should I go straight to the media?

  10. Have just went to check the Royal Mail recorded reference to make sure it has been delivered and it looks like my Letter Before Action has got lost in the post? I will try and get a contact number for HBOS so I can FAX it through? So annoying. Did I read somewhere that once a letter is posted it can be legally assumed to be delivered? If that is the case, should I leave the letter at its original date and re-send Special Delivery (30 March)? Any thoughts please???
  11. LBA sent today - getting excited now! Craig
  12. Good luck Corsicanpine. Did your letter also start with 'Thank you for your complaint'? Craig
  13. I sent my Prelim on the 16th March to BoS I have just received a standard letter from BoS (Thank you for your recent complaint.... - they start by thanking me for compliaining! - I find this statement by itself mildly amusing:roll:!) They state they are allowed 8 weeks to investigate, Can I just wait till the end of the 14 days (Friday) as per prelim letter then launch the LBA or what should I do? Craig
  14. Wow, were still waiting on getting electricity here in Fife. Oh thats my Haggis ready
  15. I'm in Scotland (haggis, neeps & tatties and wear kilt all day:razz: ) My claim is with BoS, not CB fortunately! However, it will not be long before other banks follow suit I think. My scenario is; SAR sent - BoS only supplied part of statements within 40 days (charges on supplied statements came to just over £1200). Still waiting on remainder of statements. Submitted Prelim. When I manage to crowbar the rest of the statements from BoS and I go to make another claim (which I think will be less than £750), do you think if they stated that I should have claimed in one lot, my defence could be that the claims were based on how they sent the statements? Any thoughts
